The movie looks absolutely wonderful and mesmerizing! Has been on my list for quite a while now (it's originally from 2015 after all). Sadly, I think I have to rule out a theatrical release in Germany as usual, but I hope it will get a proper blu-ray release over here at some point. Anyway, thanks GKIDS for what you're doing. The name of your company stands for the distribution of quality animation. Wish we had an equivalent in Europe.
Living in East Africa means honestly a lot of these movies would otherwise never reach me. This is one of my favourite movies (let alone animated) in quite sometime. Honestly made me realize there is a sort of genre that I didn't even know I loved. Can't sit here and blatantly say there are other movies out there like it. I can't think of many movies that managed to grab my attention as much as this one and I love GKIDS for doing what at times feels like God's work lol. I got to watch the one in Spanish and even the English dub sounded fantastic. I honestly stumbled onto this movie because I had seen another foreign film that was distributed by you guys "Boy and the World" and I absolutely loved it so after a while I went to see if there were any other movies released like it by you guys. This was a very different vibe but after letting it sit I can definitely say I enjoyed Birdboy even more. I only got to Boy and the World because of you distributing movies like Song of the Sea, Ernest and Celestine, The Secret of Kells etc, some of the best films I've seen in the past decade and movies that redefined what I thought was outside of mainstream access in terms of quality animation films. Still can't think of any film that I've been completely stunned by as much as Song of the Sea and I will always be grateful for the work you guys did and continue to do to get more people to notice it and other films like it (the list is long) Honestly don't know why I hadn't thought to follow GKIDS on youtube to keep up with any new releases. It's such a no brainer lol so I'm definitely subscribing, something I usually am hesitant on for reasons not quite known to even me. Dunno how you only have 20k subscribers though...
this movie looks beautiful! and honestly this may be one of the best dubs I've ever seen! I ask that when its released to PLEASE put it on the internet or itunes for purchase so it can be enjoyed worldwide! because honestly this is wonderful!
GKIDS always has great dubs. Certainly helps that they got actual kids/teens to voice the teen characters (the girl playing Dinky was just 16-17 years old when she recorded her lines, all of the other voice actors are around that age range).

Why change things though. As an example "You haven't been taking drugs, have you Dinky?" to "What are you on, cocaine?" The very well done subtitles for the Spanish track don't match with the English dub. For me the dub is a disappointment with tons of liberties taken in the translation. Missing words/phrases, added words/phrases, changed words/phrases. Why was the superior translation not used for the dub?

I love that they got actual teenagers to voice the kids; makes it seem like what they are experiencing is more realistic.

The saddest part about this movie was the inflatable ducks backstory. I still think about it sometimes.
