Theres plenty more where that came from, nearly all of yuasas works embody this sort of wacky cartoonish vibe yet ghibli level talent. This is one of his more family friendly works it seems.

If you like this kind of animation you should check out Masaaki Yuasa's other works, Tatami Galaxy, Kaiba, Ping Pong the animation, as well as the two others mentioned in this trailer.
It feels absolutely CRIMINAL that it even got an English dub and yet there is no sign or word of a blu-ray release. I LOVED the film and so did my little sister who's not a fan of anime. Really want to show this to more people. Really wish they'd release one soon

To those who haven't seen this film - my mom said she might like it as much if not more than My Neighbor Totoro (the pre-Disney dub) She saw Lu with me with subtitles. I hope they cover the songs well at least.

The Fox dub of Totoro is good through nostalgia goggles. The production quality is actually abysmal. The whole film sounds like it was recorded through a tin can around the corner from the microphones. The BV dub contextually fortifies the plot of the film and levels all of the original music so you can actually hear it.

Watched the movie in Japanese. It's fucking beautiful and I'm going to watch it again in English Although.. the english trailer is too high energy. The japanese trailer had a Studio Ghibli vibe. Natural yet magical.

NYAV is dubbing it. Based on their other dubs, it should be reasonably faithful and we can probably expect them to dub the songs as well.
