This looks like a really fun movie. If this was live action, it would be a boring romantic comedy, but because it's animation it can be as visually insane, beautiful and bizarre as possible.

BOTH adaptations, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Not Crash, and finally saving the worst for last Mob Psycho 100.) Oh but this looks amazing so long as it could just please stay animated.

There’s a lot of stuf by him l, go take a look! And he was also responsible for the character designs for Tatami Galaxy (AKA Youjouhan Shinwa Taikei iirc)

Everything made by Masaaki Yuasa looks gorgeous, but his animation studio Studio SARU does incredible work combining traditional animation with flash animation. Look up their animation processes if you can - absolutely fascinating stuff.

Watched it at Crunchyroll Expo tonight and the audience, including myself, was all over our seats with laughter. It is a fantastically animated movie with easy to interpret but hardly concrete messages as well as strong but lucid symbolism. The casts are wonderful and very enjoyable. A movie that seems much longer than it is. Dense and light. It hold tremendous weight in looks but feels like clouds when touched.

I've seen this movie; it's a real adventure, feels way longer than it is (in a good way) - ultimate form of entertainment, it always feels interesting but never overwhelming, great movie to watch while having a few drinks yourself. If you're a fan of The Tatami Galaxy there's a ton of references and characters that appear from it, but it is not necessary to have watched it to enjoy this movie (Though I highly recommend seeing it just because it's a truly unique and fascinating anime, the ending is oscar worthy, and it's only 11 episodes.) If you're already really familiar with Masaaki Yuasa's directing works, I personally wouldn't say it's as profound in message as "Mind Game" (opinion) but the animation is still absolutely gorgeous and hanging around for the entire adventure will truly be an unforgettable experience in your life. In general, if you're sick to death of anime tropes, Yuasa's works are a godscend. He makes media your non-otaku family and friends will enjoy too, you know? As long as they can tolerate subtitles of course. (Tatami Galaxy's subs are fast btw!) Devilman Crybaby is definitely only for 18+ though. Lu Over The Wall is an amazing kid's movie my Totoro obsessed mom said she actually liked more than Totoro somehow (opinion). Anyone who tells you his best work is Ping Pong is a jackass - It's his least visually interesting work and unless you care about ping pong as a sport you'll be too bored to enjoy the psychological aspects of it. OPINION.

I actually loved the paneling and dynamic nature of Ping Pong and the fact that despite being a story about table tennis it is applicable to anyone. I don't care about the sport at all but several of the character's stories resonated deeply with me.

I think it is probably more popular in the west because it is seen more as a novelty. Art movements like Surrealism didn't really take off in the same way in the US as they did in Japan. It's hard to come by flashy weird stuff here..so if people find something like that they really like, they'll probably come back for more, especially if it's made easily accessible. I wish arcades were still popular here, I miss claw machines (ufo catchers). :*)

I love anime with refreshing art styles. Like, don't get me wrong here, generic anime visually looks great but it can get really boring quickly because they all look the same. So even if the storyline seems fairly plain, I like the art style~

Yuasa already directed dark anime before devilman. Such as kemonozume and kaiba (doesnt get fooled by it cute art style)

The go and watch "Ping Pong the animation", "Keep your hands off Eizouken" and "Tatami Galaxy", especially the latter.

guyyyyyys i didnt watch the movie and i am really going to delay it. do you know the yt channel named puuung? or the stop motion series named rilakkuma and kaoru? so i watched beginning of the movie and i thought it'd be just like them i mean positive, and just giving THAT vibe yknow like the animation and the way story is told its so good>< but its such an adults's stuff and conflicts with the vibe but its still so good so i wonder if you recommend anything with "dat" vibe.:>
