I love his honesty. Other people complain about it, but I appreciate it because he gives you a realistic view and doesn't get your hopes up just for them to be crushed.
So for every paintball player who inspires 3 or 5 people and then imagine if there are 3 million people doing that every two or three months that can make the paintball community grow in size rapidly and it benefits everyone because paintball is more known it becomes easy to get sponsored and the more who realize the potential the more money is made if you encourage more people to be in paintball and get sponsored by someone more often friends may here about that company and boom their business go's on blast everyone sees the business it known everywhere paintball is and that's how to get sponsored and stay sponsored
This is so true! Getting sponsors was hard as shit to do, and it's ever worse nowadays! I was grateful to get the few local sponsors I had for a short time!
Mr S. Paintball does not have a bad name recognition nor bad reputation. More and more people are hearing about paintball and it is a slowly growing sport and slowly growing recreational activity. Like most things out there when economy dips then business dips since it needs disposable income. No paintball player should miss an opportunity to promote the sport & game.
my family owns a restaurant company. multiple times throughout the year we play paintball through a local paintball shop. we bring over a thousand dollars worth of business to the paintball shop, as well as getting the name of our restaurant (Marzonis/Hoss's) out to the public. we give discounts and coupons to the store owners creating repeat business. Though technically we're not "sponsored" it is a known fact that we run hand in hand. this type of relationship helps immensely.
If you spent $1000 going to a paintball tournament, and actually win it, you'll be lucky to get back $300 And that includes the PSP Once you factor in the price of practice, travel, entry, and paint, you're lucky to get back a fraction of what you spent preparing and entering
Today i watched about 15 videos from you, and i love one more than the other. Every word you tell ill agree. Thanks for your work to do this wonderfull viedeos, hope we can get a lot more. Greetings from Germany
A nice and generally easy way to get a sponsorship is through your local paintball shop or field. My friend is sponsored by our local shop and he pays about $35 for a $50 case of paint.
He wasn't calling you a noob, he said "Maybe I am too noob" as in, he was surprised you had that many sponsors, but was afraid to say that in fear of being called a noob. Nice btw, you guys must be really good.
He isn't belittling paintball as a sport. He giving everyone the truth. The reality is there is not al ot of money in paintball and if our players of the future, kids, see this they will understand it isn't easy, they are going to have to play hard and care about it. Paintball is incredible, it will never become not popular because most average joes want to shoot their buddies, and those guys let the other players who pride them selves on the sport, play.
Usually your local field or store (if they aren't attached already) already have their own team which they spend a lot of money to sponsor already. Your best bet, ask a team that's around your skill level if you can jump in on their practices (maybe even flip them a few bucks) and learn all you can from them. Then come next season, tryout for their team and benefit from their sponsors. That's how it's usually done.
Finally someone who understands i have a Tippmann 98 cus. I got for 20$ and I love it. Do I wish I had a few hundred bucks to spend on paintball yes I do but the truth is I dont so I just make do with my 98 cus. which is a great, strait shooting, durable gun that I am thankful that I have
which most of them don't have any money to give people, and when they give teams stuff at cost, those teams immediately tell the whole world "We got Droids for $800, and Premium for $28!!", which causes other customers to come in and complain complain, which causes the business to lose customers, and ultimately shut down One of the easiest ways to have your paintball store shut down is to sponsor a local team, seen it TONS of times
hey mike i have to disagree on something..people dont shun paintball as much as u say they do..now dont get me wrong not every1 likes watching paintball. but youd be suprised at how open people can be. now if yall think ima hater...dont even bother writing a comment..i love mike's shows and how well he gives advice..if i was a hater...i wouldnt have clicked the subscribe button.
wow, i must say mike, your video's really amaze me,in the time its taken me to watch this 10 minute vid, you've had an further 60 views than when i started :O Keep it up fella ;)
As a sponsored team let me add a few things. I am the captain of my team and as the captain I am the main person who tries to get a hold of sponsors. I'd say first off, when you message a company, check your spelling, make sure you talk intelligently. If you sound like a 13 year old with the IQ of a squirrel they wont listen to you. Also don't go straight for the sponsorship, befriend them and help them out to help get you in the door. Listen to this guy though, Mikes a badass..
But he is talking the truth. Only a very small percentage of people watch or take part in paintball. Some one needs to push it more and promote the "non lethal" gun fire activity. If people were playing this to settle things two things would happen. A) people would use their skill to get things done and create bonds. B) We all get to go home to our wives/girlfriends and talk about our day.
if you get sponsoured by a local paintball store its alot better than some chian busness.u can get gear or dough, when you play people who r startin or have started paintball will b there at ur match they will look at how good u r and go 2 the place that gav u ur gear of wat brand.u just got 2 b smart wit wut ur doin
@mar0069 I am getting it out there, I'm getting it out there more than 1,000 paintball players combined. No one "gets it out there" more than I do, and I've been "getting it out there" for over 20 years. But reality is reality. Even professional teams, players who are actually PRO PAINTBALL PLAYERS can barely get sponsors. And when they do, it barely covers the cost of playing at the pro level. This is a reality check, we're not nascar or indycar drivers, no one cares bro
hahhaah I am getting TONS of baby shower presents in, and I was using the knife to open the box. Got some cribs, diaper bag, tons of baby goodies LOL hey you asked LOL
Basicly yes. The team will approach a company , and in return for advertiseing theat company and promoting it that company will give u X amount of dollars. Sponserships are hard to come by and extremly hard to keep, because they have to see the improvement in their income.
They do... but try... I mean try... to ask someone anywhere you want... people will ask you what it is or that they don't know much. People who started somewhere and play paintball are actually playing... What Mike is trying to show is that a lot of people, after their day at the paintball field, it's like they never went there. Mostly because it's not a subject you can discuss with everybody you know...
Paintball is not mass marketing. The only way to get sponsors like that is to market products to other paintball players, which is what paintball manufacturers do, but it also happens with mainstream brands, like Rockstar and Relentless energy drinks. Another problem is the association with a sport which is essentially shooting people. NatWest bank sponsor a league in the UK. I don't know the deal, but banks won't tell everyone about their league, and this impacts other brands that might invest.
to play paintball? of course not ... but if you wanna run a team you also dont need sponsors .. you can try to do it all yourself or you can ask a local or big business to sponsor your paintball team and they might have connections and can provide you with goods that will help you... you dont NEED sponsors just go have fun!
Pinokio hoppers is a real good company to get sponsored by, they give u discounts on hoppers and u can get a custom made jersey, but thats it. no requirements like planet eclipse or something
most people just think that if they play paintball, they will get good, get sponsored and then get money, its mostly using money to play, and no one besides me (that i know of) has really thought of that, i just play for fun, but if their is money involved it just makes it more of a challenge, to the players on a team. thats my opinion
playing paintball as a hobby, or for recreation is not as expensive as you think. Being in high school, you can't get a span of what money is worth. and unless you pick the right career and really excel in school, "six figures" isn't likely. if you like the sport enough, just play it, and you'll find plenty of ways to fund it. have a gun? have gear? the only recurring expense is paint and field time.
From a business perspective, it's sadly the opposite. That's why you need to be convincing like your mother's life depended on it, because the mentality that you'll face with sponsors is simply that, "every dollar counts", and they don't want to waste it with promoters that don't get a huge fan base as opposed to other major league sports. -UNLV Paintball, Treasurer
find stuff around the house that u never use to sell, if u want to play paintball and get better dont go to the field every other week, go to the field one week the the week after play in ur backyard and run drills and practice with each other, paintball is nothing without a well communicating team on the field
exactly people are like paintball is dangerous and I'm like have you ever even played.......my dad kept telling me I shouldn't play cause I'll get welts .......fuck that I love paintball
@TheGreenday1227 kid why are you complaining?!?! people would die to have that. I have to work for every single piece of gear that i have and lemme tell u i am no where near you and i am damn grateful. I have an all stock invert mini, a Vlocity Viewloader, some Redz pods and pack, and a old crossfire tank. All of this was used and i play tourney ball and do great. Stop complaining and just be happy, your parents prolly bought all that for you anyways!
That was great material. I had been so confused watching my buddy move from being lame to a ladies man. He went from zero to hero. He pretended he didn't notice. He ultimately admitted it on Friday. Turns out he uses the Jake Ayres Master Attraction Formula. Google it if you want to know about it... He is on a date right now with a sexy girl...
@TheJuggernauter its called a lineman.... and that average is for offensive linemen... i play the whole game offence and defence... so mines more like 25 minutes of hard core hitting and conditioning.
@Tfrizzell999 I'm a middle schooler as well, and I can tell you he never said all middle schoolers are ungrateful. He only said they were a bunch of ungrateful middle schoolers, which there are a lot of them out there.
I think he meant that not because he is ashamed but it is a simpler answer than paintball because paintball has a bad image with many people these days
Hey hey hey. Listen im in middle school and you know what me and my are very grateful. Every Christmas my dad will give me about $20. And you know what i thank him and some of my friends get $100 and don't even say anything back to their parents. Ok so not all middle schoolers are ungrateful
Amen brother, nobody gives a shit about paintball except for the players and the people selling equipment which is sad. I wish it got more recognition. :(
i went home from paintball on the subway in toronto and people who were like 50 said oh u must have been paintballing so i think getting a sponcer is hard but people do know
Now, I have invested money for getting my team on the Valken sponsorship; however they have no requirements nor FAQ list. Any help you could provide on this choice please, I'd really appreciate it.
@Mason8it: Not sure about the USA, but McDonalds do it in the UK, and it's called the 99p menu... They're small ones though. The only thing that I can compare them to is the mini-burgers in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
the paintball team im on, it took us years just to get sponsored by the field we go to, i mean its cool because we get free addmission now and discounted stuff, but it still took us 2 years just to get ONE sponsor, and its only a field, not even a company

I love how you come out with it haha
Holy balls my grandfather lives by you
Mike, i love ur videos and you helped me a lot but i dont think you shouldnt be bashing the sport, instead, trying to promote it so it grows.
Hay I'm in a paintball group named hex our first game is dec15, 2012 wish us luck and thanks for the tips mike
How old do you have to be to start/join a paintball team?
i like this guy hes keepin it 100% i subbed and i learned alot from ur vids thx
there is gear related around it. I think it came from a movie but paintball grips and some apparel has used that slogan.
Pinokio hoppers is a real good company to get sponsored by, they give u discounts on hoppers and u can get a custom made jersey, but thats it. no requirements like planet eclipse or something

allergies. I'm extremely allergic to pet hair and pollen
Sorry if my medical conditions bother you
what state do you live in?
I love how he's making this video about sponsors with a shirt that says "'Contract' Killers"
