I went down the IEM rabbit hole around 6 months ago. I've tried the 7hz Zero (originals), KZ ZX10, Truthear Zero (blues) and Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite. While the Kiwi's were further ahead in clarity, the lack of bass made them a pass for me. They were absolutely gorgeous and had a lot going for them, returning them was a difficult decision.
I've since stuck with the Truthear Zero Blue's. They have excellent bass and the clarity is also quite good. I also have them plugged into an Elgato Wave 3 mic that offers excellent mic monitoring.
    Great review!

I purchased 3 budget IEMs this black friday and have been trying them out for gaming and music, the Truthear Zero Red being one of them. I hadn't explored the IEM space before these since i've been quite happy with my daily driver over-ears: Audeze LCD-GX and Hifiman HE1000v2. All three IEMs have blown me away in terms of sound quality, they have NO business sounding this good for their respective prices. The Red Zero beat out my Meze Classic 99s at a much lower cost, both have very similar sound signature. My only issue with them is that the nozzle diameter comes in at 7mm+ and hurt my ears a lot.
The other two IEMs are Tangzu Wan'er ($20) and Salnotes Dioko crinacle collab ($100). The Wan'er have the widest soundstage out of the three but lack the punch, they're still amazing value at $20 imo. The Dioko are planars and very much tuned to how I enjoy music, they're also the most comfortable for me. Out of the three however I would still recommend the Zeros as the overall best sound for all kinds of media.
I agree with sound being subjective and it's what makes it so hard to recommend any one headphones, at least with some of these IEMs the wallet doesn't hurt as much if you regret the purchase.
P.s. bro needs more views, the production quality is top notch. You have my upvote!

Appreciate the detailed response! I’ll definitely be checking out the Dioko, big fan of planar headphones and really interested to see how they fair in IEM’s. I never really saw myself going down the IEM rabbit hole but for the sound quality to price ratio I had the same reaction, just couldn’t believe what I was getting for the price. Appreciate it!

I own a lot of headphones and iems. I have the LCD X 2021 for creating music and mixing and many other headphones. But iems are a no brainer for gaming (especially VR gaming) and I find myself using iems a lot more than cans. I have iems that are $600 (Symphonium Meteors, incredible) $800 (Bravado mkII) etc but the $25 QKZ X HBB are amazing for gaming. They have great bass and nice treble that is bright but not fatiguing. On the PS5 there is no EQ per se and you want something that’s easy to drive (volume) and sound full with good imaging. These are louder than most iems. They do the best job out of all my iems and headphones. Since they’re so cheap, get premium tips. I gift these to friends once in a while and they’re blown away.

I have little kids and they’ve basically stolen or broken all my headphones. I switched to IEMs so I could tuck them away places. I’ve tried probably 50 different IEMs (don’t judge me) and my top favorites are the Truthear Nova, Letshuoer S12 Pro, and Tangzu Fudu. I use the Nova with an EQ tuned like the Yanyin Cannon 2 because I can’t afford them, but the others I keep at stock tuning.
For games, the S12 Pro are nuts. I can pinpoint people through walls, but there’s very little thump of the bass notes with planar drivers. The Nova are my usual all rounders and the Fudu are great for music. I pair them all with the Qudelix-5k both wired and Bluetooth.
Anyway, try out some others. It’s a fun hobby 🙂

    • @chettystudios

Helps that they're all so cheap (in relation to headphones at least) so it's easier to try multiple rather than having to save for months for one pair.

I used to own headphones from well-known brands like Sennheiser (HD560S, HD660S) and Beyerdynamic (DT990). However, while these are great for audiophile listening, they weren't ideal for competitive gaming.
In PUBG, I struggled to hear enemy footsteps with any of them, including the Epos GSP 500 headset. This significantly impacted my performance.
Everything changed when I switched to in-ear monitors (IEMs). My first pair, the KZ EDX Pro, was incredibly affordable and offered a much better competitive gaming experience. The soundstage (imaging) was far more precise, allowing me to pinpoint enemy locations and footsteps with ease.
Since then, I've also tried the Red Zero IEMs. Now, I'm using the Simgot EM6L, which I consider one of the best options under $100. It delivers clear and accurate sound, making it perfect for competitive gaming.
With IEMs, I can finally hear footsteps clearly and distinguish their direction and distance. This has significantly improved my gaming performance. If you're looking for a great IEM for competitive gaming, I highly recommend the Simgot EM6L.

I typically rock the HD58x while gaming and the Zenns Mangird Tea2 at work and the gym. I use the Tea2s with the Fiio utws3 so Im not fighting with a wire all day, and I think they're considered a hybrid iem but I don't really know why? I never considered using the Tea2s for gaming, but I do feel like they're better for music.

    • @woyttas
      @woyttas 6 месяцев назад +1

Hybrid in IEM world means a combination of different drivers inside the shell. Tea2s have 6 Balanced Armature drivers and 1 Dynamic Driver in each side. This enables the manufacturer to precisely tune the sound signature to their target graph.

I want to try IEM's because of comfort, headphones can make me sweat and are heavy and can hurt if you use glasses, finally removing them at the end of the day is alleviating. The problem with IEM's is moving around like you said, so I'd like Wireless with 12+ hours battery and dedicated 2.4hz dongle for low delay for gaming, but they simply don't exist, except the Sony Inzone but it seems the batteries can start dying a few months after use. so it is what it is, I'll try a cheap IEM's like the one you have. good vid

as someone with hair and glasses, ill never buy another pair of over-ears ever again after ordering my truthears a few months ago, especially with how hot you get over long sitting periods & the price to performance aspect of it you can get a pair of 50 dollar iems that sound similar or even better than 1-300 dollar overears especially if you listen to music while playing which most "gaming" advertised headsets sound like trash when it comes to music if you play and listen, so for anybody looking get either iems or look for a decent pair of over ears that arent strictly for gaming unless you dont mind switching/arent a music person but for anybody with hair/glasses theres zero reason to not get iems, also you may need an amp/dac or i just picked up a 10 dollar apple 3.5 to usb dongle and my iems are 10x louder
