I've been looking for a tutorial on how to make a denim jacket from scratch, for the longest time, and now I finally have one to go off of, that's easy for me to do! Thank you so much for this!!
I have been sewing for decades but am self taught so there is a lot I did not learn. I learned several things from this video and look forward to sewing the pattern I just purchased. Thank you for the EXCELLENT video Great job. Can't wait to learn more from you.

I'm a bit bummed that the first step of sewing a denim jacket is: own a denim jacket xD I eventually made the pattern from pictures, and used recycled jeans as fabric.
There's no need for it. Just find a reference online, take your measurements, and draw the outlines of the pieces on your own. It's just a matter of connecting the dots with lines and curves. With using a pre-owned denim jacket, all you're getting is a template. You'd just be remaking a mass manufactured product with your own hands. Instead of putting so much effort into that, why not create a custom jacket that's made to your exact measurements and fits you like a glove?
i love these videos, this is how I learned to sew by making patterns off of clothes. My mom used to purchase a garment back in the day when we had layaway trace the garment and return it!! lol she could make it for cheaper. Anyway great job!!!
Looks like it! I just finished up a color block crewneck made from two sweatshirts, but now I want to do more from scratch. I'm gonna post it on my insta soon! 😊
That was awesome! I love the super careful and professional way you finished all the seams. My jean jacket is starting to wear out and I'm thinking about trying to make a new one out of old jeans. First I think I'll make a mock-up and adjust the pattern to make it a bit more flattering - the best part of making my own clothes!
How I got here: Couple weeks ago I searched for a video of "How-to hand stitch" because I didn't know how to sew anything. Now RUclips recommends this video. Me: Watches some of the video just for fun, sees the professionalism and how much work and skill is involved. .. . Uhhh I just wanted to sew a hole up lolol. Good job though... ? :)
I love this video, you make the seams much easier! I have question as I am a beginner. I am using this video as a guide to make a fleece lined jean jacket. First attempt was pretty sloppy, especially at the cuffs and waist where I had to integrate the lining and denim neatly. Do you have any video recommendations to help me on the lining? Thanks again for such a helpful video
Loved this video, Im making a denim vest and it really helped me ♡ My only question is, do you have a video about how to make the collar pattern of this jacket?
My first time watching a tutorial by you! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 You show everything in exact details! This makes it so easy to follow. Definitely on my to do list. Work area and pieces nice and clean..... pressing is the key. And...... Your nails are so nicely manicured.....very important when doing tutorials that constantly show the hands!!!! Will be watching more of your tutorials!!! 💜
Hi there, if I am tracing the pattern from my jacket, what extra do I need to add to each piece for seams/hems. I am a bit confused as it seems to be different for each piece

Strangely enough, I’ve been looking for someone that did it from scratch with thin jean fabric and a pre-owned denim jacket....like seriously.

Mi duda es, ¿cómo adapto ese patrón a las medidas de mi cuerpo? -_-. No encuentro tutorial de eso....
Which footer did you use and what method did you use to determine your seam? [Cover stitch, overclock, single needle?]
single needle
What size needles do you need for thicker fabrics such as denim? [DDL Juki 8700]
