I imagine the nameplate macro was nerfed because you can target bosses that are halfway through a dungeon and when you have a macro to target a boss that only has a certain chance of even spawning. Pretty op for gold farmers
How about this classic blizzard move: Gotta remove +healing scaling on a the baron sword instead of just having it recalculate every few seconds. But Diamond flask is just fucking fine. Ret paladins aren't allowed nice things.
Get yourself the polearm trident from BRD, Flame Wreath. 5% proc per swing + 5% per Seal of Righteous/Seal of Command damage, so 10% per swing. Proc of the polearm does around 120 fire damage (AoE) which doesn't scale, plus a fire thorns buff for 15 seconds which does 10 damage + 100% of spelldamage as damage every time you're hit in melee. The fire thorns scales dynamically so after it procs you can equipp a one handed spelldamage weapon and activate a spelldamage trinket and it will destroy packs when you're AoE grinding, I currently use it with Zandalari Hero Charm and Lok'amir when swapped alongside full T2 and spelldamage rings, cloak, neck. Result? When polearm procs the thorns does over 620 damage, which is extremely strong!

On launch in a raid you actually got increased XP the more people you ran with for dungeons. The torch room mobs in BRD gave full XP with ridiculously easy to kill and quickly respawning mobs. People abused stuff like this to hit 60 in a week and if you didn't take the first week to play, it took you an extra 10+ hours of leveling depending on your class and server.
I dont understand why people play on PvP servers anyway. I cant imagine a way that open world pvp does make fun. Stealing ur herbs / ores, unbalanced af, removing ur world buffs (aka u wasted 2-3h for nothing). Killing you in a 5v1. Alts get killed from 60's while beeing lvl 10 or so. etc etc... BG's does make alot of fun, but for them i dont need to be on an pvp server that destroys my whole game experience.

Like beating a game on normal then going to play it on hard mode because you thought it was too easy. But WoW classic PvP players? Those guys are sadists.

And I played Horde PvP at classic's release, it just became super obvious what was 'fun' about world pvp to people was essentially just sanctioned griefing beyond Phase 1.
My favorite part of the whole Spy thing is the argument that "everybody has access to it, so it's not cheating." Yeah, boxers all have access to kicking each other in the balls...but I believe it's still discouraged.
as much as I despise rogues, Spy sounds like a game ruining add-on. It's much more fun/realistic to be looking over my shoulder, popping cats-eye elixirs, and throwing down an earthbind totem behind me to feel safe while I drink.
My god I played AV in original WoW until Lt. commander on alliance by basically losing. That took months and months. I bet I could count AV wins on one hand.
I did AV exalted in 2 days with a 100% winrate. we used some addon that managed the queue for us. we managed to get into the bg with ~36 premades everytime.
What's the deal with horde PvP lol I remember even in vanilla warsong gulch coming up against only 19, 29, etc geared twinks on my warrior. Just did a BG in classic this week where I was the only alliance player with any HKs and I saw the EFC druid cat form glitch through the vine wall at our base by the graveyard where his entire team was waiting below
ClassicLFG was never intended to automate anything. It was always intended to work like the group finder listings on retail: player lists their group, other players see the listing and can apply to it or pst the leader. Would never have hurt any social aspect of Classic, and would be a MASSIVE help now due to the sheer amount of boost advertising spam clogging damn near every chat channel.
@6:10 - In vanilla I raided with a moonkin who made extensive use of the mage enchant, as did one of our warlocks. This is actually the move away from #nochanges that annoyed me the most as I main a prot pally and was very much planning on using the warrior enchant. On the bright side, changes towards their original vision does open the door to [Righteous Defense] being added into WoWClassic as "the 'original vision' included paladins having a taunt that wasn't just a copy but blizz didn't devote the resources to fix pallies & shamans", to paraphrase Kevin Jordan.
you forgot the best/worst nerf - diamobs flask works with addheal bonuses and warriors use this to solo pretty much everything. Baron Rivendares sword has the same life regen effect - but passively. If you farm addheal gear, snapshot the hot and switch to your normal gear, you could permanently run arround with 500-800 heal ticks every 5 seconds and all you had to sacrifice was your weapon slot. Best thing is, even tho it is the EXACT SAME EFFECT AS DIAMONDFLASK in the game data. they went out of their way to nerf this while preserving diamond flask wich only one class can use. Blizzard, how did you fuck that one up?!

You could queue as a group in to AV for several months after it was released. It was only changed later. We used to Queue in to AV after we finished MC and BWL raids as a 40man group. That is the reason it was removed. Guilds were steam rolling pugs and it was hilarious.
I was doing lasher farm on my mage back in 2005 in vanilla. Farming those lashers helped me get my first epic mount. It wasn't amazing gold but it was something.
Regarding the max camera distance in retail. You also had an interface option to adjust it, not to the same settings you could from the console command but if they wanted everyone to have access to it they could have improved the interface one. The reason they nerfed it was to better balance encounters, having a wider field of view means you see mechanics earlier and have more time to avoid them (the lava waves at Sartharion was given as examples). So when deciding on how fast those waves should move, they needed a fixed reference point that wasn't based on your interface settings.
Blizzard nerfed the Shatterspear Village (Dancing Troll Village) farm spot to level characters as alliance, as the mobs no longer give experience. To be fair, it was an uncontested zone and the mobs were PvP tagged and didn't attack anyone unless attacked, so you could potentially sit there from level 1 to 60, and get Runecloth and other useful things without being disrupted. Alliance can still farm them for items, even easier now, as they're not PvP tagged anymore but still friendly to Horde.
The DME lasher farm was nerfed at the end of Vanilla wow and since we play on the 1.12 version of the game is why they're in their nerfed state Private servers also nerfed lasher farm cuz it was too good
I've liked them more when they listened to nobody. But at that time they were just a bunch of young geeks and they had better taste as well. But I have to admit it, WoW is a tricky question. Even if I think that a really good game should be original and should come from the developers/artists, MMOs are different because we are so much invested in. In other games if you do not like it you can choose to not buy it. But here it's our game as well, part of our live basically.
If you want someone to listen to what you want in a game, make your own. No one owes you listening to, considering, or implementing your wishlist. The community isn’t one voice and don’t all want the same things, and you’re only speaking for you and then applying it to “the community” to make it seem like it’s not what YOU want.
I had the mage enchant on the bloodvine leggings pretty early on as a warlock, got to do a couple of BWLs with 1% extra hit. It was done by having a mage with the enchant put the legs in the trade window and while the enchant was being applied you pressed accept at the proper time. Before it binds the item to the mage, but after the enchant is cast is complete. Too early and nothing happens, too late and you lose your item :)
My premade Group did actually use the WS exit to troll a Horde premade one time. they have placed the flagcarrier in an unreachable spot and we thought this would be the most appropiate way to return the favor. We will loose the battle, but they gotta have to wait forever to go for a next one
The enchant trading was very easy to do. When it was revealed as possible in classic, we tested it (for science) using Common shoulders and the Librams from argent dawn, and I was able to do it consistently. essentially you just clicked the libram, and clicked the shoulders. After starting the enchant cast (3 seconds?) You put it in the trade window, and then trade the item during the same batch it became soulbound. The timing seemed pretty lenient - I had no issue doing it on my first try (my ally in this case got some shoulders with the fire resist enchant despite being only friendly with argent dawn). It was nerfed overnight, so I never followed up on it
Lasher Farm is a 7.5-10 minute run, depending on just trash drops, you can make 25-50g and hour as a mage, and then you have greens, blues, herbs, and epics to potentially sell. It's a little more time consuming and difficult for Priest, Locks, Pallies, and druids, but it is possible.
People were doing Gorshak as early as like, September on my server actually. I remember seeing people in my guild at the time talk about it before I hit 60. Which, was around like 3-4 weeks after release for me.
This is why I dont like or trust neo-blizz. Every time someone figures something out thats clever they dont like they look at it and nerf it to the ground or remove it. The problem is that its decision is left up to the subjective judgement of a bunch of paid morons when the judgement should be left to the community. Ie every time blizzard wants to make a change to their classic game they should let the community vote on implimentation of said change or if a change needs to be made. I dont think awareness of such a thing is a valid excuse because players tend to communicate and use addons so its likely everyone will find out by word of mouth in some form or another.
One thing I miss from vanilla that isnt in classic due to the newer client was infinite eagle eye/farsight. Via macro you could cast eagle eye/farsight while already casting eagle eye/farsight to just go as far away from your character as possible, could look in on a zone from 2 zones away, it was fun.
I recently discovered that you can jump over some fences in Classic WoW to make some mobs stop hitting you and run around. Meanwhile, you can still cast a spell or charge up your next weapon swing while they are running.
The enchant exploit was to do with batching. What you would do is have a boe item like Bloodvine in the trade window and cast enchant on it. The receiving player would have it already accepted, and the casting play would hit accept at same time as the enchant cast finished. There was about a .5 second window so it was easy to do without a macro/addon.
14:00 I didn't play the re-release of classic, but I understood exactly where you were going when you said "defined a whole phase". I heard the Spy sound in my head before you even mentioned it haha! Best addon ever! Been using it to hunt down gankers to punish.

Yeah, if only the community that they were designing around was actually reasonable. I remember that whole scenario and it was so frustrating because pretty much no one fighting against its existence was willing to consider that they were basing their outrage on incorrect information. The functionality that the addon actually had was quite limited, and the original version of Meeting Stones were actually much more powerful than the addon was. All it really did (and still does, as far as I know) was parse the chat window to find and display LFG/LFM advertisements and make it a bit easier to keep track of things. It never automatically formed groups like LFD does in retail. At one point it did have an auto-accept request function that could be toggled but the author listened to us when we said that was a bad idea and removed it well before Blizzard got involved. Sorry, this topic still makes me a little angry. The way Blizzard phrased their post made it seem like everyone was right to call it a random dungeon finder when it never actually did that. A streamer just used an old version that still had the auto-accept function and planned it with friends to make it look a lot worse than it was and the entire community denounced a tool they misunderstood and could have potentially been useful. I love Classic but finding groups is really not that user-friendly. The addon prevented ads from getting immediately spammed out of the chat window while still requiring communication and manually putting a group together to succeed but nope.
@@WoWhistorian it got so bad before release that people actually thought ClassicLFG would teleport people to the dungeon because of one troll making gullible believe it could do more then what an AddOn is capable of.
Funny story about Spy actually it was added for the purpose of the Private server Ascension wow :) Where it was a Free for all classless (where u could even kill your own faction and get some of your enemies loot if u managed to kill them) Since the meta on the first server was that everyone would take stealth. It just meant that the addon would add more features to make pvp easier on this server.
You forgot about the westernplague lands exploit. Where multi boxers were leveling toons from 48 to 60 in 2 hours. Players would receive around 2-3 mill exp an hour.
If you are curious about it, was doing with a set of 10 or so toons all with the quest " A Matter Of Time" use the item to spawn the worms and then kill the worms once the booster tagged the mobs
the slam macro was pretty damn good, with a good setup 2h did as much damage as dw, although the spikiness makes you unable to ride threat as well. totally used it in pvp though, as you can instagib classes u lost to otherwise, just aa>grenade>slam/aa/ms all at once and clothies are dead besides warlock, so sunder em up if you need to, no heals can save you if it crits enough.
I freaked out for a moment when I heard the spy addon sounds on your video. Its like PTSD. I swear sometimes I hear that sound when I'm not even playing
Alliance bias. No mention of the removal of the macro that would allow shamans to dismiss their totems. It would have been extremely useful in the BWL suppression room and for situations like dropping into the arena in UBRS.
I can totally understand the first 2 btw. Infinite mob spawning in 1 single instance is definetly problematic. Honestly though, all these changes just prove how different the community is and how many information we have about a game as old as this.
it's kinda the meme with classic, the players expect blizzard to treat the game as it was back then, but none of the players seem to want to do the same. all these new tools and stuff make the game so easy, everything is open for everyone to see, and everyone is more than happy to use all the modern tools that change the game so much.
13:33 that information is wrong. Classic LFG was never intended to do what LFG does on retail. People just freaked out over the name of the addon before looking into what it does so Blizzard had to do something about it.
@@yooowhatupribs wrong. It scanned your text channels for people who look for a certain dungeon. You still had to communicate with ppl in order to form a group it just made it easier for ppl using the same addon to find ppl who look for said dungeon so people spam world chat a little less. No automatic group matchmaking, no ILvl restriction, no porting to dungeon. Just an easy way of using text channels that are given byx the game.
the spy addon still works, in fact it gives you a larger warning on screen if someone enters stealth near by. the range might be nerfed but its still pretty effective and a must have if you play on a PvP server.
The WSG hotfix was also another funny hotfix, happened 2-3 weeks after the AV premade fix, we used to have an alt to our 10 man premade, so once the queue would pop, we would send the scout, and if it was a full premade, we would leave the queue and keep tossing alts/scouts. Blizzard hotfixed it by having you to only being able to see the enemy team once all 10 players from your side are in! :D
The slam macro nerf always confounded me. Especially in hindsight considering it's EXACTLY HOW SLAM SPEC WORKED later on throughout the middle of WoW's life.
Not how slam spec worked in TBC, which was pretty much the only slam spec that existed until they made slam instant. In TBC Slam resets your swing timer no matter what, macro or no.
The stop attack macro (slam) wasn't just working with slam. It was causing double tap interaction with windfury, hand of justice, and sword spec extra hit procs.
Fun fact with HonorSpy and Hunt Macro, Honor Spy will be able to search for Ennemy players in the Range of the Eagle eye, even if you are targeting 1Km away .. ..
Also how they nerf paladin: 1. /startattack /stopattack macro for reck pala, when you can just do 2 hits instantly after being a crit(nerfed) 2 When you change target with auto on you lose stacks(its not work like that on start) 3 BoSac give you reck charges if target take crit (nerfed) 4 Reckoning charges saved after dies (nerfed)
Any change to ret is irrelevant as it is a trash spec only used by idiots who try to reinvent the wheel. 15 year old game, it's already known they are garbage. It's the reason I play horde, just to not have rets in my bg or raid
Your point 3 AND 4 seem like very unintended interactions tbh. The talent says nothing about dealing crits, and having buffs through death is not how the game works!
I'm pretty sure there was a sword in strathholme that gave you health back with a proc that was effected by spellpower, if I remember correctly warriors with enough spellpower could solo bosses in MC for around a week.
The thing with land slide is you didn’t even have to kill the mobs you could just run around and they would “die/de spawn” but they were still loot able
I think they should have kept sitting reckoning, but limit the stacks you can get from just sitting to one. But I guess that's more complicated than just getting rid of sit reckoning

the spy addon has gotten me killed sooooo many times, even when stealthed they would find my exact location and aoe me out to then kill me. This is not a addon, this should count as cheating and should be ban. It even showed the exact chords on the map where the enemies were, and you could report in world channels the location of players. So stupid, literally removes the whole point of interactions with other factions
Spy was way more broken than that. You could target people by clicking their name entry on the list. As a hunter i targeted a guy in EPL who was at the bottom of a crypt down 3 flights of stairs, completely out of sight. I simply clicked his name on the Spy list and set my pet to attack - watched my pet run into the crypt and ten seconds later he got ganked by broken tooth while fighting mobs. Spy is/was a BS addon that completely ruined wPvP.
You can infinitely summon Arikara (an elite mob) in thousand needles as horde as long as you dont turn in the quest and keep the incendia powder! i did it 5 days ago!
The Mage and Hunter ZG buffs were simple - no elaborate exploit or anything required; they'd just enchant BOE gear with their enchants and then give the item to other classes. Bloodvine set in particular is BiS for many warlocks, and all 3 are BoE.

As a mage i once used a spyglass to gather information about ennemy players in the other side of a lake in felwood. Now this addon just tells "hey dude, there is an enemy neardby " .. ). it's just trash. 50 yard is not enough this addon should be completly blocked.
Why the hell would you use a dungeon finder addon in classic? For my part I really enjoy looking for groups in World lfg Chat, it feels like the World is more active and players are really "there" :)
On my server the social aspect of classic is dead now that everyone is 60 and alts get boosted. Leveling areas are dead and instance groups non-existent. It's basically everyone raid logging and getting alts boosted to then GDKP run to then raid log..bizarre.
Prob cause alot of servers are trash and let boosters advertise in LFG instead of telling them to make their own channel, boosters have pretty much single handily killed content, the desire to go quest and grind dungeons with a group isnt there cause they rather go boost. Therefore an addon that functioned like the Burning crusader finder would be ideal for people not wanting to spam lfg to fight against booster spam.. or constantly keep lfg open to see all the spam thats not even about finding a group. I always harass boosters... ill kick em out of chat by telling people to spam them for free runs then I'll offer free runs and call them trash till they leave LFG for a few hours wish more people took this stand they prob would have made a booster channel by now.. or atleast a discord for it... I even report boosters for spam. Only good booster is a broke one... I even do free stealth runs for black stone ring... IN vanilla people constantly would help people for free.. in classic... " gimme 10 gold and ill help" SO people wanting a LFG system free of trash booster spam I can easily see why they would want the addon.

Funny thing: 9 times telling about things, that were present in classic vanilla WoW, and Blizz removed those things only to conclude on place 10 with removing functionality, that were present in original classic WoW (yes, vanilla had even dungeon finder as innkeeper gossip, which worked silly back then and is also not ingame now), decreasing combat log range, even AddOn parsing chat spam is disabled because it s not "spirit of Classic". That just pathetic!
The noise from Spy is used in Star Trek i found out when i was watching it on my 2nd monitor while farming. Took me about 10 minutes of frantically looking around and being paranoid until the sound played once more in Star Trek before i figured it out.
They are not premades. I know it seems like it but they have only 3 Russian realms. So there is a chance that you encounter like 30 ppl from the same realm and that leads to the confusion that it's a premade. Also the Russian meta is different and it helps deceive that you are facing a premade
On pagle there was a guy who had 10 accounts and camped all the spawns in silithus. After he got the one in silithus he would send all of his characters to winterspring and get it there, then hearth back to silithus. He would do this from 1 or 2 am to noon every morning. This was something I'm very happy got fixed seeing as they were going for 200+ gold per lotus on horde side of pagle.
Wasn't really a surprise or something they changed though. They told us months before classic released that would be the case. I know some people don't like it. But it is one point that you can't really call blizzard out on with classic. Especially with the many other little things that they have done over the past year.

Mages actually could do Landslide farm, with ease, use the ZG buff for +10% movespeed coupled with ice barrier and 40 bandages, mages could do the farm for 2 hours until the elixir ran out.
Paladin in my guild was soooo chafed when Blizz nerfed the Landslide farm. Fair enough I guess but what made it funny was that literally a day or two earlier he'd gotten an edgemaster's handguards off those mobs. So he'd already made thousands of gold, not even including the elemental earths, and was seriously considering quitting over not being able to get anything more from infinitely respawning mobs you could afk farm lol

Just did a BG in classic this week where I was the only alliance player with any HKs and I saw the EFC druid cat form glitch through the vine wall at our base by the graveyard where his entire team was waiting below
which is funny cos alliance have the most op race out of them all, HUMANS. triple pvp trinket setup
ClassicLFG was never intended to automate anything. It was always intended to work like the group finder listings on retail: player lists their group, other players see the listing and can apply to it or pst the leader. Would never have hurt any social aspect of Classic, and would be a MASSIVE help now due to the sheer amount of boost advertising spam clogging damn near every chat channel.

@6:10 - In vanilla I raided with a moonkin who made extensive use of the mage enchant, as did one of our warlocks. This is actually the move away from #nochanges that annoyed me the most as I main a prot pally and was very much planning on using the warrior enchant. On the bright side, changes towards their original vision does open the door to [Righteous Defense] being added into WoWClassic as "the 'original vision' included paladins having a taunt that wasn't just a copy but blizz didn't devote the resources to fix pallies & shamans", to paraphrase Kevin Jordan.

you forgot the best/worst nerf - diamobs flask works with addheal bonuses and warriors use this to solo pretty much everything.
Baron Rivendares sword has the same life regen effect - but passively. If you farm addheal gear, snapshot the hot and switch to your normal gear, you could permanently run arround with 500-800 heal ticks every 5 seconds and all you had to sacrifice was your weapon slot.
Best thing is, even tho it is the EXACT SAME EFFECT AS DIAMONDFLASK in the game data. they went out of their way to nerf this while preserving diamond flask wich only one class can use.

I don't understand why Diamond Flask snapshot is still in the game, warriors trying to ninja healer gear in dungeons is just the most cancerous thing ever.
You could queue as a group in to AV for several months after it was released. It was only changed later. We used to Queue in to AV after we finished MC and BWL raids as a 40man group. That is the reason it was removed. Guilds were steam rolling pugs and it was hilarious.
I was doing lasher farm on my mage back in 2005 in vanilla. Farming those lashers helped me get my first epic mount. It wasn't amazing gold but it was something.
Regarding the max camera distance in retail. You also had an interface option to adjust it, not to the same settings you could from the console command but if they wanted everyone to have access to it they could have improved the interface one.
The reason they nerfed it was to better balance encounters, having a wider field of view means you see mechanics earlier and have more time to avoid them (the lava waves at Sartharion was given as examples). So when deciding on how fast those waves should move, they needed a fixed reference point that wasn't based on your interface settings.
Blizzard nerfed the Shatterspear Village (Dancing Troll Village) farm spot to level characters as alliance, as the mobs no longer give experience. To be fair, it was an uncontested zone and the mobs were PvP tagged and didn't attack anyone unless attacked, so you could potentially sit there from level 1 to 60, and get Runecloth and other useful things without being disrupted.
Alliance can still farm them for items, even easier now, as they're not PvP tagged anymore but still friendly to Horde.
The DME lasher farm was nerfed at the end of Vanilla wow
and since we play on the 1.12 version of the game is why they're in their nerfed state

#5 only grinds my gears bc you can legit get the enchant at 58, but now you have to be level 60 to benefit from it.
like you would put the ZG enchant on an item that doesn't require lvl 60 to wear..

But I have to admit it, WoW is a tricky question. Even if I think that a really good game should be original and should come from the developers/artists, MMOs are different because we are so much invested in. In other games if you do not like it you can choose to not buy it. But here it's our game as well, part of our live basically.

I had the mage enchant on the bloodvine leggings pretty early on as a warlock, got to do a couple of BWLs with 1% extra hit. It was done by having a mage with the enchant put the legs in the trade window and while the enchant was being applied you pressed accept at the proper time. Before it binds the item to the mage, but after the enchant is cast is complete. Too early and nothing happens, too late and you lose your item :)

My premade Group did actually use the WS exit to troll a Horde premade one time. they have placed the flagcarrier in an unreachable spot and we thought this would be the most appropiate way to return the favor. We will loose the battle, but they gotta have to wait forever to go for a next one

I'm really surprised you didn't mention leveling through dungeons as a 10man raid group. It was the biggest change imo.
The enchant trading was very easy to do. When it was revealed as possible in classic, we tested it (for science) using Common shoulders and the Librams from argent dawn, and I was able to do it consistently. essentially you just clicked the libram, and clicked the shoulders. After starting the enchant cast (3 seconds?) You put it in the trade window, and then trade the item during the same batch it became soulbound.
The timing seemed pretty lenient - I had no issue doing it on my first try (my ally in this case got some shoulders with the fire resist enchant despite being only friendly with argent dawn). It was nerfed overnight, so I never followed up on it
Lasher Farm is a 7.5-10 minute run, depending on just trash drops, you can make 25-50g and hour as a mage, and then you have greens, blues, herbs, and epics to potentially sell. It's a little more time consuming and difficult for Priest, Locks, Pallies, and druids, but it is possible.
once a lock gets to teir 2 you can hellfire down packs with ease if you use stuff like spellstone, health stone and soul link felhunter.
People were doing Gorshak as early as like, September on my server actually. I remember seeing people in my guild at the time talk about it before I hit 60. Which, was around like 3-4 weeks after release for me.
i can't have name plates visible past 20 yards but i can use an addon to give me info from 50 yards away... sick logic. what an amazing dev team.
This is why I dont like or trust neo-blizz. Every time someone figures something out thats clever they dont like they look at it and nerf it to the ground or remove it. The problem is that its decision is left up to the subjective judgement of a bunch of paid morons when the judgement should be left to the community. Ie every time blizzard wants to make a change to their classic game they should let the community vote on implimentation of said change or if a change needs to be made. I dont think awareness of such a thing is a valid excuse because players tend to communicate and use addons so its likely everyone will find out by word of mouth in some form or another.

One thing I miss from vanilla that isnt in classic due to the newer client was infinite eagle eye/farsight. Via macro you could cast eagle eye/farsight while already casting eagle eye/farsight to just go as far away from your character as possible, could look in on a zone from 2 zones away, it was fun.

I recently discovered that you can jump over some fences in Classic WoW to make some mobs stop hitting you and run around. Meanwhile, you can still cast a spell or charge up your next weapon swing while they are running.
The enchant exploit was to do with batching. What you would do is have a boe item like Bloodvine in the trade window and cast enchant on it. The receiving player would have it already accepted, and the casting play would hit accept at same time as the enchant cast finished. There was about a .5 second window so it was easy to do without a macro/addon.
One macro that got nerfed was the one that told you how much armor an enemy had. You could also do a /say to see how much of each resist the mob had.

Yeah, if only the community that they were designing around was actually reasonable. I remember that whole scenario and it was so frustrating because pretty much no one fighting against its existence was willing to consider that they were basing their outrage on incorrect information.
The functionality that the addon actually had was quite limited, and the original version of Meeting Stones were actually much more powerful than the addon was. All it really did (and still does, as far as I know) was parse the chat window to find and display LFG/LFM advertisements and make it a bit easier to keep track of things.
It never automatically formed groups like LFD does in retail. At one point it did have an auto-accept request function that could be toggled but the author listened to us when we said that was a bad idea and removed it well before Blizzard got involved.
Sorry, this topic still makes me a little angry. The way Blizzard phrased their post made it seem like everyone was right to call it a random dungeon finder when it never actually did that. A streamer just used an old version that still had the auto-accept function and planned it with friends to make it look a lot worse than it was and the entire community denounced a tool they misunderstood and could have potentially been useful.
I love Classic but finding groups is really not that user-friendly. The addon prevented ads from getting immediately spammed out of the chat window while still requiring communication and manually putting a group together to succeed but nope.

Funny story about Spy actually it was added for the purpose of the Private server Ascension wow :) Where it was a Free for all classless (where u could even kill your own faction and get some of your enemies loot if u managed to kill them) Since the meta on the first server was that everyone would take stealth. It just meant that the addon would add more features to make pvp easier on this server.
You forgot about the westernplague lands exploit. Where multi boxers were leveling toons from 48 to 60 in 2 hours. Players would receive around 2-3 mill exp an hour.
If you are curious about it, was doing with a set of 10 or so toons all with the quest " A Matter Of Time" use the item to spawn the worms and then kill the worms once the booster tagged the mobs

the slam macro was pretty damn good, with a good setup 2h did as much damage as dw, although the spikiness makes you unable to ride threat as well.
totally used it in pvp though, as you can instagib classes u lost to otherwise, just aa>grenade>slam/aa/ms all at once and clothies are dead besides warlock, so sunder em up if you need to, no heals can save you if it crits enough.

No mention of the removal of the macro that would allow shamans to dismiss their totems. It would have been extremely useful in the BWL suppression room and for situations like dropping into the arena in UBRS.

Honestly though, all these changes just prove how different the community is and how many information we have about a game as old as this.
it's kinda the meme with classic, the players expect blizzard to treat the game as it was back then, but none of the players seem to want to do the same.
all these new tools and stuff make the game so easy, everything is open for everyone to see, and everyone is more than happy to use all the modern tools that change the game so much.

It's a dungeon finder addon. It did everything besides port you to the instance, wtf are you talking about. LFG would've ruined a large social aspect
@@yooowhatupribs wrong. It scanned your text channels for people who look for a certain dungeon. You still had to communicate with ppl in order to form a group it just made it easier for ppl using the same addon to find ppl who look for said dungeon so people spam world chat a little less.
No automatic group matchmaking, no ILvl restriction, no porting to dungeon. Just an easy way of using text channels that are given byx the game.
the spy addon still works, in fact it gives you a larger warning on screen if someone enters stealth near by. the range might be nerfed but its still pretty effective and a must have if you play on a PvP server.
The WSG hotfix was also another funny hotfix, happened 2-3 weeks after the AV premade fix, we used to have an alt to our 10 man premade, so once the queue would pop, we would send the scout, and if it was a full premade, we would leave the queue and keep tossing alts/scouts. Blizzard hotfixed it by having you to only being able to see the enemy team once all 10 players from your side are in! :D
Thats called queue dodging. It was a huge problem on private servers. Glad Blizz did something to counter it.

The slam macro nerf always confounded me. Especially in hindsight considering it's EXACTLY HOW SLAM SPEC WORKED later on throughout the middle of WoW's life.
Not how slam spec worked in TBC, which was pretty much the only slam spec that existed until they made slam instant. In TBC Slam resets your swing timer no matter what, macro or no.
The stop attack macro (slam) wasn't just working with slam. It was causing double tap interaction with windfury, hand of justice, and sword spec extra hit procs.
People used to fear and MC people out of Warsong Gulch back in actual Vanilla. Still a good change
Fun fact with HonorSpy and Hunt Macro, Honor Spy will be able to search for Ennemy players in the Range of the Eagle eye, even if you are targeting 1Km away .. ..
Also how they nerf paladin: 1. /startattack /stopattack macro for reck pala, when you can just do 2 hits instantly after being a crit(nerfed) 2 When you change target with auto on you lose stacks(its not work like that on start) 3 BoSac give you reck charges if target take crit (nerfed) 4 Reckoning charges saved after dies (nerfed)

I'm pretty sure there was a sword in strathholme that gave you health back with a proc that was effected by spellpower, if I remember correctly warriors with enough spellpower could solo bosses in MC for around a week.

There was also another BRD nerf. The torch room eye of killrog xp farm. That got me to level 60 so quick it was insane.
The thing with land slide is you didn’t even have to kill the mobs you could just run around and they would “die/de spawn” but they were still loot able

the spy addon has gotten me killed sooooo many times, even when stealthed they would find my exact location and aoe me out to then kill me.
This is not a addon, this should count as cheating and should be ban. It even showed the exact chords on the map where the enemies were, and you could report in world channels the location of players.
So stupid, literally removes the whole point of interactions with other factions
Spy was way more broken than that. You could target people by clicking their name entry on the list. As a hunter i targeted a guy in EPL who was at the bottom of a crypt down 3 flights of stairs, completely out of sight. I simply clicked his name on the Spy list and set my pet to attack - watched my pet run into the crypt and ten seconds later he got ganked by broken tooth while fighting mobs. Spy is/was a BS addon that completely ruined wPvP.
You can infinitely summon Arikara (an elite mob) in thousand needles as horde as long as you dont turn in the quest and keep the incendia powder! i did it 5 days ago!
The Mage and Hunter ZG buffs were simple - no elaborate exploit or anything required; they'd just enchant BOE gear with their enchants and then give the item to other classes. Bloodvine set in particular is BiS for many warlocks, and all 3 are BoE.
There is a reason those enchants are class specific... aka they are only intended for those particular classes.

Spy , the addon that killed open world game ... Back to 2006 i had lot of fun playing in pvp servers. And i did not play rogue back then. As a mage i once used a spyglass to gather information about ennemy players in the other side of a lake in felwood. Now this addon just tells "hey dude, there is an enemy neardby " .. ). it's just trash. 50 yard is not enough this addon should be completly blocked.

For my part I really enjoy looking for groups in World lfg Chat, it feels like the World is more active and players are really "there" :)
On my server the social aspect of classic is dead now that everyone is 60 and alts get boosted. Leveling areas are dead and instance groups non-existent. It's basically everyone raid logging and getting alts boosted to then GDKP run to then raid log..bizarre.
Maybe if you've only got an hour to kill and want a quick run? Not everybody sweats the game for 5hrs+ a day.
Prob cause alot of servers are trash and let boosters advertise in LFG instead of telling them to make their own channel, boosters have pretty much single handily killed content, the desire to go quest and grind dungeons with a group isnt there cause they rather go boost. Therefore an addon that functioned like the Burning crusader finder would be ideal for people not wanting to spam lfg to fight against booster spam.. or constantly keep lfg open to see all the spam thats not even about finding a group.
I always harass boosters... ill kick em out of chat by telling people to spam them for free runs then I'll offer free runs and call them trash till they leave LFG for a few hours wish more people took this stand they prob would have made a booster channel by now.. or atleast a discord for it... I even report boosters for spam. Only good booster is a broke one... I even do free stealth runs for black stone ring...
IN vanilla people constantly would help people for free.. in classic... " gimme 10 gold and ill help" SO people wanting a LFG system free of trash booster spam I can easily see why they would want the addon.

You cant call yourself a raider if you just chase buffs.... if your in guild that requires you to get all world buffs I feel sorry for your ass your with a real trash group they probably couldnt even full clear mc without buffs thats how bad they are even in their tier 2.

Funny thing: 9 times telling about things, that were present in classic vanilla WoW, and Blizz removed those things only to conclude on place 10 with removing functionality, that were present in original classic WoW (yes, vanilla had even dungeon finder as innkeeper gossip, which worked silly back then and is also not ingame now), decreasing combat log range, even AddOn parsing chat spam is disabled because it s not "spirit of Classic". That just pathetic!
That mind control portal shit almost makes me regret quitting early season 2. I woulda spent all day doing that shit and nothing else.

The noise from Spy is used in Star Trek i found out when i was watching it on my 2nd monitor while farming. Took me about 10 minutes of frantically looking around and being paranoid until the sound played once more in Star Trek before i figured it out.
I still come across Ruski premades in AV... they don’t win, but they still exist...
They are not premades. I know it seems like it but they have only 3 Russian realms. So there is a chance that you encounter like 30 ppl from the same realm and that leads to the confusion that it's a premade. Also the Russian meta is different and it helps deceive that you are facing a premade

On pagle there was a guy who had 10 accounts and camped all the spawns in silithus. After he got the one in silithus he would send all of his characters to winterspring and get it there, then hearth back to silithus. He would do this from 1 or 2 am to noon every morning. This was something I'm very happy got fixed seeing as they were going for 200+ gold per lotus on horde side of pagle.

Wasn't really a surprise or something they changed though. They told us months before classic released that would be the case. I know some people don't like it. But it is one point that you can't really call blizzard out on with classic. Especially with the many other little things that they have done over the past year.

Mages actually could do Landslide farm, with ease, use the ZG buff for +10% movespeed coupled with ice barrier and 40 bandages, mages could do the farm for 2 hours until the elixir ran out.
Paladin in my guild was soooo chafed when Blizz nerfed the Landslide farm. Fair enough I guess but what made it funny was that literally a day or two earlier he'd gotten an edgemaster's handguards off those mobs. So he'd already made thousands of gold, not even including the elemental earths, and was seriously considering quitting over not being able to get anything more from infinitely respawning mobs you could afk farm lol
