An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

I studied lingscars in my graphic design course at university. Her website was an example of “such bad advertising, that it’s actually good” and how she would “break all the rules in the design book, but in such a successful way” I messaged her about it and she ended up sending an email to my University here in New Zealand to say hello hahaha, as I told her my teacher was a big fan of her. Very lovely lady. I learnt a lot from her :) from memory she retired last year. She had several staff and had a bunch of fun :)
whoa thats amazing. she basically went on DD for free advertising, she never needed their help or money. clever woman, she was the smartest person in the room that day 🤓

Yes. Its the satire approach. Lots of people in the US did things like this in the 70, 80s and early 90s. " Crazy Jim's cars and trucks" things like that. Ling is just one of the few left doing this lol.

She did incredible well. She knows her company is doing well. She may not have had the words to explain to them that it was doing that well and she was not going to let them take advantage of this. They did not take her seriously.
She got free marketing as well plus you know she’d fight for a good deal for you.

They shouldn't take her seriously if she can't answer simple questions about the finances. They are doing the responsible thing by not staking their money on complete guess work.
@@TomNook. the whole point I think is that its practically risk free. She knows more than she's letting on with the free lunch comment. So essentially 30k is quite good. I feel this is why Duncan and Richard jumped in. Richard is an ex finance guy, probably spotted this straight away. Only issue is that the profit margins are small...true of almost all arbitrage opportunities. But, if it's practically risk free why not do it. It makes sense.

The site is pure crap.
70k net profit per month. 840k a year. They wanted 15% each for 25k each. Cheeky gits. Even at 10% for 5% each she was being generous. 84k return for the 50k invested in the first year if she’s honest about her numbers.

Her website is fantastic and apparently her business is still doing very well 15 years later!

Ling is my favourite pitcher ever on Dragons Den. Not because she's the most successful or has the best business model, but because she totally values her own hard work and share in the company enough to turn the Dragons down fearlessly.
The irony is they probably made her an offer because they liked her guts and personality!

I love how usually after a no deal there is a small segment of the dragons going 'theyll regret that' or 'how dare they refuse' or just some snarky comment...However in this its almost like it was cut due to how wrong they were. Ling went on to be hugely successful and still is

Apart from the bad puns, the narrator doesn't bring any value as he just repeats or spoil stuff. They should just have him to introduce the segments and do the brief post-pitch interviews with the entrepreneurs.

Absolutely knew fully well that this was a great business. Dragon's totally underestimated her, and she actually answered the number questions much better than many of the entrepreneurs that have gained investment here. Fair play to Ling!
