- Ade Andu has developed a self-watering system that solved the problem of overwatering/under watering your plants. Mr. Andu is seeking an investment of £100,000 in return for a 25% equity stake in 'Plant Pal' but Ade's last-minute spill turns all the Dragons off!
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

"He didn't like the 48% deal"
Of course he didn't, it's half his bloody company...
bitterman co it’s just a joke calm down
@Tai Chi Tube How is he conman, is it by saying the truth or not accepting their deal?
Cheesecake.
if you cant stand the heat get out the kitchen
@Karen DeGenerous I'm well aware that half of 100% is 50%... There's no need for the condescending remark. The point was that at this stage of the show none of the dragons had the acclaim that they do now- so yes, a 48% offer was ridiculous, and quite clearly a bait to see whether the guy believed in his company, or was just looking for a quick investment to sell.
I'm surprised they didn't want his wife and 1st born child thrown into the deal.
And one of his kidneys.
Of course a Nigerian prince will give millions as a gift if you send him only 500 pounds so he can pay for a new key to open his vault...
@Tai Chi Tube he's selling else where. So what gives you the impression he isn't? And he's developed further products too.
@Tai Chi Tube Where did you get this information from? This is someone who has won six awards for innovation in the hydro-dynamic plant watering sector in the UK alone. His product is one of the most sought after self watering plant device sold on Amazon and it's featured on the British Science museum’s website. I think he is doing just fine!
And his dog.
This is why you don’t go into the den with a reasonable original offer of 100k for 25% because they will ask for 48%
Exactly. That's why I dont get why the comments are filled with people saying "Why do they expect x amount for 7%?" They don't! It's a basic negotiation tactic. Never show how much you're actually willing to give away. If you give them an inch, they will take a mile.
I mean it ain't rocket science... If you a come in saying you want 100 thousand pounds. For 10 percent off someone's business. You are valuing it at 1 million. ☝️ This is how the evaluate a business. 10x revenue, risk, traction. Idk where you guys are pulling percentage from. The fact they add 25 to 30 percent on sometimes, disgusts me because they are putting that on the self' for themselfs when lets be real, its their team who build these businesses not them. And majority off dragons den fails. Shark tank has a better longevity throughout their businesses.
@Rocco Connie You're the only one bringing race in to it you tit.
@Rocco Connie What, because you do?
@Rocco Connie It shocked me he didn't use the race card.

@@KoopaXross I seriously question both the business nouse and cooperation of everyone but Peter Jones, to be honest. Rachel wasn't an active director in her own company which went bankrupt due to mis-management; Duncan, despite his popularity, has left entrepreneurs high and dry when it comes to post-den meetings and discussion - he's a narrow-minded dick; Simon is just a motivational speaker with a sushi-chain; Doug, again, seems really unpleasant and impatient to work with but specialises in computing software (and "roleplaying" lol).
I'm not saying these guys aren't successful or smart in any way - they are, but, considering this is the first season, the full inter-disciplinary value of "dragons" was never there. He would have been better going to an expert and invester in tech, aquaculture, or horticulture. Especially for nearly half his company.

He would have taken their money and hired a marketing while playing the big boss game.
He had not sold one item yet he expected to be trusted with the follow through!
Peter is so sharp.
Peter behaves like a serious investor and will get the guts of the matter right out on the table.

Ade: For marketing of the product.
Peter: Do you have to pay for that?

@Induxvideos the guy should have been upfront from the beginning instead of teasing them with patent approved in America, then saying it's not for offer. I think that's what pissed them off. However, I agree that they are greedy.

I hate how dragons are allowed to have 100 companies but a man can't have ONE business and be studying at the same time? lol

Rachael being a snake here. "He needs 10k, so even though I won't add much to the business I'll offer 10k for way too much equity"
But she was getting the exact same % per £ as all the other dragons, it's not like she was getting 12% of the total 48% for her smaller investment. In fact, if she was the only way he would have landed him an investment, if it wasn't for the closing caveat he presented. Dragons were way too greedy & don't see how there is a lot of work needs doing, or why he needs to be 100% involved-he has delivered them a working product, obviously there is going to be a demand for such things, he pitched well & answered their questions clearly-it is up to them to use their contacts & get this thing into the stores. Very telling that not one of them would put up the full amount themselves-why the hell would he need four dragons when all he needs is one or even two who can get him into B&Q, Homebase & Garden Centres? Surprised with how well he presents that he couldn't just pick up the phone or drop in at these places & give his pitch to them direct.
Why would he pitch a local store of a national chain? The home office is the one who makes all purchasing decisions. Without a dragon or the right contact, his product will just languish on their submissions shelves until they raffle it off to employees for Christmas or they figure out a way around his patent so they can make it for themselves. There are several retailers on both sides of the pond infamous for both.
It was a very, very reasonable price. I thought he was going to doing to quote prices at least twice the $5.99, 2.99 & 1.99. I think the dragons missed out. I hope he was able to succeed!
