Honestly, not too sure about that, the only thing I remember at the end of her pitch is Mark Cuban calling her a gold digger and the water throwing. Her product was basically overshadowed by that unless you're seriously watching Shark Tank with all your attention.

Korean foreign national comes and gets two degrees in the US socialist academia system, one in business and the other in Chinese, which is easily several hundred thousand dollars in tuition, THEN proceeds to come out with serious capital, no debt, and cash in the bank... She also speaks English with a Chinese accent (that's not Korean). I'd be interested to know her familial roots because one of the most common ways Chinese spies operate in the US is exactly this scenario. They recruit promising candidates from Chinese families in other countries and fund them, meanwhile A LOT of money, technology, patents and information are going back over to China in exchange. It's not cloak and dagger, it's out front and open. The meditation thing is just a vehicle.
She has a track record of success with this company, and really shouldn't be forced into a down round. I think she could have offered advisory warrants and appeased all interested parties.
Earlier this show used to tax the entrepreneurs 2% of their profit or 5% equity for just pitching , but mark threatened the show makers to drop it or he'll leave and they dropped it, that shows how much he values this show for the budding entrepreneurs

The woman with the mediation got me at first. But after watching it again in a business perspective, you'll realise she never planned to walk out of there with a deal other than to use up air time on Shark Tank to promote the app. She's baiting the sharks and they sortta sense that.

I mean obvious getting the exposure from the show is given. But to say she didnt value the sharks at all is not true. Just because she doesnt need their money doesny mean she doesnt value them. I believe she wanted the exposure and obviously the contacts and ability the shark could bring with a deal but she just doesnt value them that much. Dont forget that these are sharks, if you watch the show youd notice they always want to feel valued, it's not so much what something is really worth its about them feeling like they are valued. For instance if someone comes in with a super low valuation but with decent numbers then negotiate with the % and make it seem like they give in to the shark, the shark wouldve bought it, provided they're already interested. Then again there are other factors like the person presenting, sometimes you can pull off doing that, without the shark calling you out for lowball offer only to raise it a little and all. I think it's not fair to say that she doesnt value the shark, because there clearly is a value, just not the one the shark wants. The sharks often dont do deal if they dont get the offer they want, even if they actually value that company higher, because they would never lower their offer and look like their begging for a deal unless it's a business they really really want. The same goes with people coming in, if your business is doing okay and you dont have shortage of money, you already have some upper hand against the shark, so her valuing them less is appropriate.

If she would have taken that deal she would have devalued the company from 12 million to under 9 million instantly which would be extremely wrong to the investors already in. They would have had to work in advisor shares and they would have made up too much of the percentage.

Mark is an amazing shark in the way that he can easily tell the true thoughts of an entrepreneur and that he can tell if something is a scam super quickly. Sometimes the other sharks disagree and team against him, but he sticks to his thoughts, and they're always right.

I know this lady's cousin and apparently what actually happened is they booked her for the show but it took over a year and a half to actually get on the show. And in that time, her company grew and she got other funding elsewhere lol. Also apparently it's doing really well so far.

The show’s producers decide, if everyone who auditions for the show, who gets on the show. It’s a TV show- it has to be good entertainment. The sharks don’t control who gets to come on the show and get exposure. So, if anyone is stripping chances of other, more well-meaning candidates, it’s the producers.

You don't know how much equity she has already given up to her shareholders. Ten percent might not seem like a lot, but she might be thinning her stock too thin and thats a big problem.

Other sharks see through this but instead of bashing her they basically give advice for those who would actually be honestly seeking a deal coming in there when they shouldn't be raising capital.

I don't think she was fake crying. To be called to your face a 'gold digger' (which obviously has a lot of other connotations for women), and basically being called a bad person by 2 successful sharks would take a toll on anyone. Just because she didn't mark the valuation down by literally 75% (from $12M to $3M which is what the sharks were asking for) doesn't mean her tears weren't real.

The market is already saturated with much more high-quality apps like Headspace and Calm, to name just two. I feel Mark and Damon were right . It just would have been great if Mark could have found a better word than gold digger ... something understated and subtle ... or like Damon not even use the word but just explain why he doesn't want to do business with her . I mean obvious getting the exposure from the show is given. But to say she didnt value the sharks at all is not true. Just because she doesnt need their money doesny mean she doesnt value them. I believe she wanted the exposure and obviously the contacts and ability the shark could bring with a deal but she just doesnt value them that much. Dont forget that these are sharks, if you watch the show youd notice they always want to feel valued, it's not so much what something is really worth its about them feeling like they are valued. For instance if someone comes in with a super low valuation but with decent numbers then negotiate with the % and make it seem like they give in to the shark, the shark wouldve bought it, provided they're already interested. Then again there are other factors like the person presenting, sometimes you can pull off doing that, without the shark calling you out for lowball offer only to raise it a little and all.
I think it's not fair to say that she doesnt value the shark, because there clearly is a value, just not the one the shark wants. The sharks often dont do deal if they dont get the offer they want, even if they actually value that company higher, because they would never lower their offer and look like their begging for a deal unless it's a business they really really want. The same goes with people coming in, if your business is doing okay and you dont have shortage of money, you already have some upper hand against the shark, so her valuing them less is appropriate.

Gotta agree with Mark here. This show is not for exposure but for the entrepreneurs who really need this opportunity. If more people come in just for exposure the ones who really need the money and partnership will be stripped of their one chance to save their company.
The show’s producers decide, if everyone who auditions for the show, who gets on the show. It’s a TV show- it has to be good entertainment. The sharks don’t control who gets to come on the show and get exposure. So, if anyone is stripping chances of other, more well-meaning candidates, it’s the producers.
