- Matthew Statham wanted £150K for a 15% stake in Autoblaze, a wood-burning stove ignition system. The combustion unit ignites the fire inside a wood-burning stove at the flick of a switch (or remote control), so there’s no need for kindling and matches. The consumer simply loads dry logs in front of the air jet, closes the door, presses the remote and the 5-8 minute lighting cycle begins.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

Can't believe how disrespectful Peter is. Some multi million pound business's are boring but they still bring in the money!!!
He really irritated me!!
Yea Peter looks like a chubby water baby with a wet brain. And acts the way he looks.
I am convinced Peter reacted that way because he was attracted to the pitcher, by belittling him he is trying to assert his masculinity which he knows in 50/50 at best. Watch Peter's eyes, he is defo slightly woofta
Sometimes he uses it as a tactic to strongarm the one who's pitching in giving him a better deal.
That's very true, but he is in a position where he doesn't have to do this. So he most likely will only back things that interests him.
Same thing about a standard job. If you're only in it for the money, you're in the wrong job.
Peter: “I’m bored”
Matthew: “In that case let me tell you about European legislation”
"Well, it's still not exciting, is it?"
"In that case, let me tell you the history of the European legislation regarding stove efficiency."
🤣😅🤣😅🤣
Best sleeping pill ever, have someone tal about european legislation.
😂 lmfao
im bored even more so im out
If PJ is having an off day, he’ll make sure you’re coming along for the ride
I’ve noticed that if Peter comes across another tall bloke he wants to shoot them down to show how “Alpha” he is..
@@slipslider9048 Interesting theory... I will have to take note next time, but I think you're probably right lol
He's just being his normal f-ing a-hole. Rude and obnoxious as usual.
@@slipslider9048 he's in your head lol. If you really think it's all about height, I don't think there's been a single dude that's walked in who's taller than 6'7".
@@rohilthomson , no you’re right it’s not all about height. It’s about all the constitutive predicates which are necessary and sufficient conditions for defining “Alpha” - if that’s even a concept which is relevant in anthropogenic biological evolution.
I bet Peter wouldn’t have found it so boring if the entrepreneur offered him shares in his other businesses
Or if the entrepreneur came in with a guitar and dreadlocks singing a song.
Or if he offered his first born.
@@zanavaughn4517 mean 🤔❓
@@zanavaughn4517 well, that business was successful and gained millions. Good investment, not this one though.
@@Lala-uz5xq a company Peter invested in, a sauce brand which did very very well
Matthew handled questioning (& insults) very well, good on him. Not a trace of defensiveness
good point, but... Talking back to someone who insulted you isnt defensiveness. its called standing up for yourself and being a FN man. blame someone for how they react but dont blame the people who STARTED it.
yeah, you make alot of sense.
Wow, Callie, your so beautiful
I love how the dragons force someone to disclose information they really feel will compromise their business and then declare themselves out.
Even when they hand over a paper saying the details they can still get exposed. Peter did that last time when the guy said they didn't want to be named and he read it then said ah ministry of sounds good company or something
@@mrsurprise2294 that's shitty of the editor too

What's to love in that? The exploitation?
Rules of the den if you don't want to disclose everything to the public don't go on Dragons Den where it is obviously going to be broadcast, there are plenty of other investors out there. This will always be first and foremost an entertainment programme
No thanks, my butler does a fine job lighting my log stove
If you lighted the fire yourself, you'd appreciate it
Peter: this I so pointless, it's a fan to light a fire
Also Peter: I have a bath at home I can fill by pressing a button on my iPad, I don't really use it
I know what you mean but you misunderstood that quote. At the time he said that he was talking about the fact that some of those ideas are just gimmicks and after you buy them you realize they`re pointless cause you dont really use that "feature" they bring. Its like the shower head hanger that lady had.
Good memory
Why is Peter so upset? He's a millionaire who gets PAID to listen to potential business investment opportunities whilst promoting himself and all of his own businesses at the SAME TIME! There's no pleasing some people.
interestingly hes a billionaire now
Why are you so upset?
You are being entertained for free
There's no pleasing some people.
you do realise this is at its core reality tv. Never take any of it as complete fact down the middle when producers mix around shots out of context ALL the time.
This is the worst I’ve seen him to be fair, I’ve actually seen him be fairly cordial with people who had what I think were worse pitches, must’ve woke up on the wrong side of the bed lol.
@@lewis6052 No hes not a billionaire.
The dragons don’t see the benefit here for typical customers when it’s easy for them to start a fire just blowing on the logs
Underrated
Omg I wasn't ready
Made me chuckle. An underrated comment. :)
Funny. 🐉🐲
Would look lovely in Touker’s office space.
Too bad the office space has no one in it :)
🤣
Peter can be so unbelievably rude sometimes, I couldn’t imagine pitching in front of that Peter Jones
Peter "I'm having a bad day"
*crushes someone's dreams in seconds*
"Ahhh, I'm glad to relieve the stress by breaking you"
Define boring Peter, his favourite investment reggae reggae sauce that he never stops talking about could be described as boring as it’s just another sauce
It's his favourite investment because it made him lots of money.
That sauce tastes awful
It is borin mhan. Dis beats it.
This invention would be exciting to Peter if he added some reggae sauce to it. Peter likes everything with reggae sauce, even doing it.
I tried it it’s bloody awful
Pete's midlife crisis captured in real time
ha ha
Exactly.
He’d prefer to invest in Hamfatter to try to recapture (or buy) the youthful cool he never had.
Narrator: "Has his firebased business ignited Deborah Meaden's interest?"
"Peter Jones is clearly not a fan of the fanbased ignition system"
I love these line 😂
Yes, the narrator went full blaze with the metaphors in this one
"Has Matt burned his bridges with Nick Jenkins"
Nick Jenkins: I’m afraid this is a slow burner for me so I’m out.
Narrator: Out-punning Peter Jones, Nick Jenkins declares himself out.
These puns are killing me 😂😂😂.
the puns are the best!
If only Peter could hear Evan's witty puns, he wouldn't have treated the entrepreneur so coldly.
It must have been a long day in the den for Peter
Peter Jones would find 10k on the floor and complain its litter
And still pocket it
How rude. I guess Peter is taking an opportunity to use his boredom to fuel the entertainment value of the tv program. Or he's just being rude.
Peter's attitude was the only interesting part of this dull episode
@@JP_C3 This is why I think he might be ruder than if there were no cameras.
Peter was very rude. This guy didn't rise to the bait though, he was very intelligent and pleasant. By the way Peter, there's nothing wrong with eating salad every single day.
"Thank you for your feedback, & thank you for making me tell you how much it cost when you already knew you wasn't going to invest so that the company ive been selling it to now know that ive been ripping them off in a big way & wont buy anymore from me, thank you" :)
🤣🤣🤣
yes, very sad :( utterly disrespectful of needy contestants who do not expose dragons' deals. spineless
I comprehend this side of it. However, no investor is going to invest without that information.
How has he been ripping off the people he sells to? He said he sells them for $250, but they sell it as $500, they're doubling their money. He's coming up short of being able to do that himself. He's getting less profit than the retailer
So you think best to just assume the guy is selling for decent profit based on absolutely nothing
If Peter found the product / pitch boring then declare yourself out. Simple. Going on and on about it won't magically make the product less boring to you will it. He doesn't really need a wood burning stove when he has a mansion in the heart of London.
Peter's just always negging the entrepreneurs so that he can decide at the last moment whether he wants to insult them one last time and call himself out or suddenly change course and say he likes the product, but give them a stingy offer that they're more likely to take because he's broken their confidence. Unless he can tell instantly that he likes the product and the person who's pitching it, he's always dealing in negativity.
He does it to test them. How passionate they are etc. In most cases at least
Peter is in a great mood! Did he forget his coffee in the morning
Wouldn't have found it so boring if it was already turning a decent net
I guess salad isn't worth much time when you have caviar and the tears of entrepreneurs to feast upon eh Mr Jones?
And the custard!
Lighting a fire may be a nice experience the first time. After that it is a real nuisance and if it can fire on with no hassle and no smoke then one has a winner. Also if the user wants to light it manually he can do so, otherwise the ignition will do it for him. This is a good product. The only boring element of this episode was Peter.
gg
if it is a nuisance why do it at all? If you want convenience, just about any other type of heating is cheaper, faster, cleaner. Only thing unique about a wood burner is making the fire...
@@rolandfrerichs5625Because the experience gets you close to nature. So you want to do it sometimes, on special occasions.

This is a man who thinks stripey socks is the dogs........he's a bit of an arse.
Put a flowsignal on the stove to make it more exciting
I may have missed it, did he mention the bonus of being able to light your stove remotely and come home to a warm house, rather than coming to cold house and having to light it and wait for it to warm the place up?
And not to mention the huge benefit it would be to the elderly and disabled who would struggle to bend down or sit by it while tending to the fire to ensure it was lit successfully
Having a fire burning in your home unattended (be it a stove or otherwise) is a very bad idea. So a remote controlled fire that you can start before you get home is an incredibly bad idea and not the best selling point to say the least, and then there is the insurance/legal nightmare you would be dealing with!
Peter arguing that convenience isn’t popular and that people would rather work for their pleasures.
This has a huge potential in other markets were wood stoves are more common. I live in Norway, and I heat my whole house with a wood stove every day for 8 months of the year. This solution combined with an automatic feeding system had been a complete game changer.
My ex was Norwegian and so I spent a lot of the time in his hometown. I was thinking this would most definitely sell in Norway.
This device would have been really useful, for sure.
Perfect for my house in France, say when the wood is damp or you run out of matches or the air flow is causing lighting problems. I wd have been ready to give examples like that to Peter.
The dragons often make a point about investing in the person as much as the idea. I'd like to see an entrepreneur turn this around one day and pre-emptively declare a dragon out, saying they've no interested in doing business with them as they're careful about whose money they take. Imagine what Peter would feel about being told his cash isn't good enough.

Love this show. Theres not many i havnt seen. But when i do stumble across an unseen episode, i get exciteee!
You realise these aren't episodes though? These are clips from episodes; they trim out some boring ones for this channel.
Autoblaze is still available as an added option from a variety of stove manufacturers but the company was dissolved a few years ago..I suspect he was bought out
Looks like Esse may have bought him out. They now call it their "Integrated Stove Ignition System".
@@Squeph ISIS?
More likely he burned out...
Is this an electric fire?
yes - if you plug it in
He totally doesn't explain the actual problem to Peter.
I have been growing up with making a fire in a stove. You have to assemble the pieces correctly, place the fuel-piece right, have the right airflow (worse on rainy days because meteorological low pressure). And if you don't have everything right it starts to smoke a lot (not just a bit) and even the glass window of the stove easily turns black. So the room is then smokey and it is annoying to set up another fire and clean the window of the stove later.
So .. while on some days it might be fun to light your own fire, on most days where you just want to do it quickly I totally understand that this is VERY nice to have.
But I think it could be done better, it looks like a GPU, could be integrated in the stove itself with tubes. That makes more sense, to buy a premium stove.

I think having a system that lights a fire for you is a good idea. Not everyone has the caveman instinct of "me make fire". Some of us just want to chuck the wood in and have it burn without the faffing about.
That narrater of dragons den is the best pun artist in England no doubt about it

That is a good product. If I had one of these burners I would want that option when I couldn’t be bothered lighting the fire.
Touker : “Year 4? We’re in year 1 ... and also nobody wants my office space..”
Unnecessarily harsh maybe
I don’t know how old this episode is, but these types of fireplaces are EXTREMELY popular these days, particularly in the USA.
Old school fireplaces can be cool but there’s a million issues to having one. I’d say half the people I know own at least one of those electric fireplaces.
Someone mentioned this before, and I agree that it would be very nice to know the original air date of an episode.
If this episode is 10 years old, clearly these dragons had NO CLUE how popular these devices will become.
Incredible the dragons can’t imagine people wanting the look of a fireplace without dealing with fire, wood, smoke.
I often don’t use my fireplace because of the mess firewood makes. It sucks having to wake up at 3am to put more wood on. Wood stoves are a pain the butt. Plus they are dangerous with toddlers around.
There’s also lots of areas these days who prohibit fireplaces being built in new homes due to pollution.
I actually had to re-watch the episode. It’s not an electric fireplace, it just lights the fire for you.
If it works really well, I’d actually definitely consider one.
Like I said, it truly sucks waking up at 3-4am freezing because the fire went out. I only still do it sometimes because I have those pellets that light on fire easily.
There’s NOTHING fun starting a fire at 3am when it’s absolutely freezing in your house and your half asleep.
If he'd added wifi so it can be ignited remotely so tje home owner comes back to a warm room that would of been an additional USP.
