Also, he said "Tastes somewhere between cabbage and collard greens" before the next stop, where he called the greens "cabbage".
@@Fluuuv From my understanding, the meals he ate with greens used Gomen Wat, which is usually a mix of collard greens, but especially cabbage and kale. Collard greens are any of the leafy greens of the family brassica oleracea, which includes cabbage, broccoli, kale, and cauliflower, and the term "Collard" is derived from the word "colewort", meaning any of the genus Brassica that do not develop heads (eg. cauliflower and broccoli both do, so would not traditionally be considered collard greens, even though the leaves are edible). So, it's not totally incorrect for him to call them cabbage, since it's likely to be a component (and his sense of smell could be telling him that it's cabbage, as well), but it's probably not entirely correct, either, since it's usually cabbage and kale.
I love my Ethiopian restaurant in Barcelona, Abissinia! I must say I find the women very beautiful and everyone has such nice teeth and a very pretty smile. Thanks Sonny!
All these years of experience eating food all over the world, including India, and Sunny should have known that spices on the side should be handled with care. The amount of chili powder he took with the cabbage, I would have been surprised if he had NOT gotten teary.
You lose sensitivity to spicy after a few years of eating spicy food, specially if you have spent a few years living in Asia. My family doesn't eat spicy at all, and even when I use the mildest chillies, it's too spicy for them, for me it's almost unnoticeable.
@@franciscocz8384 Yes, and No. Your body does get used to spices after a while, but that is not the end-all-be-all of it all. Any average person would know that not all chilies are made alike. Unless you know for sure what particular chilies are used in that powder, it is always safe to err on the side of caution. In India, there are two types of chilies mainly used in cuisine - kashmiri and resham-patti. Kashmiri is milder but imparts a bright red color in a small amount used, whereas the other one is very strong but imparts a dull red color. You'd need much more of it to impart the same color as kashmiri. Unless you know exactly what chilli is being used in the dish, you'd be in for rude shock based just on color. Then, there is also the factor of age and geography. Your tongue is way more sensitive when you are young and it loses it as you get older. That why many parents complain that their children are "fussy eaters". Its because the kid's tongue is a magnitude of times more sensitive than their parents who might be in their late 20's or more.
Prices seem to be wildly inflated for vegetarian dishes at the market in Addis, compared to when I was there last time. Can any locals confirm if these are now 'normal' prices? Or is Sonny getting ripped off? 😄

That was probably (and i know im going to misspell it)bairbairi. It's a spice blend including lots of chili

"My favorite RUclips food content creator is in Ethiopia 😍" Great job!!
Thanks for such a great video about cheap street food in Africa👍
Prices seem to be wildly inflated for vegetarian dishes at the market in Addis, compared to when I was there last time. Can any locals confirm if these are now 'normal' prices? Or is Sonny getting ripped off? 😄
Bro the inflation in our country right now is growing exponentially
