I’ve read some of the comments and people seem protective of the country which is understandable, but I think they’re focusing on the wrong situation. Africa is full of wonderful, talented people and has lot of natural resources, but lack of good leaders. Thank you for watching the whole video , Berhane ❤️. The people are what make this country! I met extremely warm and friendly people during my travels. I am getting many negative comments because I don’t think many people actually watched the video. There is a lot of diversity and culture, tons of beauty, and the food is delicious!! 🥰🥰 Thank you again for your comment 🇪🇷🥰
throughout the video I just kept thinking to my self how I wish I was there with you to take you to all the right places instead of you aimlessly walking around. but walking around like that is good too because you get to see the city properly. looking forward for your next upload.
Haha!! Luckily, I ended up meeting people that showed me some of the city. It was a good balance- I just try to avoid tours when possible because I’m able to meet people when I explore in my own. Thank you watching and commenting! I just posted part 2 of 3 🤗 hope you enjoy it too ❤️🇪🇷
Thanks for making this! I was considering it as my first African destination, but now I want to do more research because I work remotely and internet is completely key important.
Glad you enjoyed! Yea, it will be impossible to work remotely here. There are a few internet cafes but the connection in super slow- you can’t even access Facebook - not that you would need to for work - but I don’t know what else is limited.

Love this video! As an Eritrean that was born in America, I find it best to visit Eritrea during the months of june-august. Normally Europeans show up around august and Americans are often there late may- june-july. There are often people (other foreigners) there that speak english and Tigrinya during june-july that can help very much to find things.
Correction:May 24 1991 is when Eritrea🇪🇷became an independent sovereignty & fully recognized by the International community or United Nations 🇺🇳in 1993.
Thank you for visiting Eritrea and also for your honesty. You reported what you saw and also what you felt. That makes your content so interesting. I read a comment that you are surprised by the comments made by some Eritreans living in Diaspora. But not only, also me as an Eritrean as no answer to that. But also, we are not all like that. There are also many who are fighting the injustice back home. Yes, there was sanction by the UN, but that was not the reason for all problems that we have. It's just a brutal dictatorship who is ruling the country was no Constitution, Parliament, and also no freedom of press. The list goes on and on. Thank you for showing me my city that I can no longer visit. Zann, you are the best !
Thank you for your comment! I appreciate your words of support for my video and for some of my response. this video has caused a lot of arguments and angry responses, which was not my intention. At the end of the day, I do think I brought an awareness that wasn't intended either, but probably needed. Thank you for watching- Im glad you enjoyed it
How Come possible to compare eritria with north korea,it is totally lie, ERITREA IS STILL UNDER SANCUATION WHICH WAS IMPOSED BY YOUR GOVERNMENT IN 2009. BECAUSE THIS COUNTRY REFUSED TO BECOME WESTERN PUPPET. SO YOU NEED TO CORRECT YOUR NARRATION.
@@ZannParker Yes, I did. You were an amazing lady to be able to go solo in such a wonderful place. I have not come across another single lady doing the same thing on Eritrea before . @@TekolifeEritrea has two types of sanctions who proposed by USA and British . Finally which passed by United nations first embagaro sanction. The next one not to collect 2% taxes from diaspora. But, the USA persuade many countries like Germany, North Korea and Italy and so on advised not to invested in Eritrea. Besides, USA forbidden Eritrean to use swift USA dollars , also USA tried to isolate Eritrea by western media to be isolated and no one to invest in Eritrea all this things has connection with economy collapsing
@Tekolife Economic sanctions based on false lies of supporting Al Shabbab. Ironically US backed Ethiopian invasion of Somalia gave Al Shabbab life by destroying the Islamic Court Union.
you can't blame westerner, your life going to hell is not due to others but you, Iseya's afewerki is the country problem he has ruined everything and he will not lift the country out of misery and poverty
If you could imagine these people have been through in the past 80 years, you would cry but then ask yourself how did they do it? and thanks to the sanctions and isolations did on the people, which literally did nothing to the Government but all of it went on the back of the people. Their problem is different from the problem of the world and yet harder. But they never gave up. A little opportunity and they are will be far better than Singapore. Thank you for what you doing, and please don't just say anything that is going to hurt the reputation of the people because you can't really understand what they really want and stand for in life.
The people are the BEST!! And I’m so sad to read all the comments of all the Eritreans living in a free country, with internet, unlimited water and Electricity, sticking up for the government who is making their beautiful people suffer. I am blown away that the “western Eritreans” are not fighting for their people… instead many western Eritreans are putting full blame on the sanctions. There is poor infrastructure in the water supply- the government is responsible for that. Eritrea is directly on the Red Sea which is one of the most valuable resources. The government is not helping the people, instead they are restricting them and not allowing them to prosper. It’s not right.
I agree with you, just like you have stated many Eritreans are supporting the dictator while living overseas. It makes me sad to see that, I hope change will come soon, the blue revolution will win soon God willing. 🙏
@@ZannParker I think you just a traveller you don’t know nothing about the government and the ppl.the government are living the same way as the masses no luxury cars, they dont send their kids to universities in America everybody is the same in Eritrea. @Zannparker you are absolutely 💯 right. It is sad that eritrean abroad are so nationalists to the extent they can't differentiate right from wrong, while living their best in western countries 😢.
@@ZannParker you are the most hypocrite and political illiterate or you must have an agenda paid by enemies. How can a government sanctioned for more than 20 years in a 33 year independence in a country ravaged by war for independence accomplish all that you mentioned while facing major wars after independence and no war no peace for more than a decade with Ethiopia? It's funny how you guys go preach "democracy aka Libya, Iraq etc.." around the world and living on the back of Africa and other country expenses. And Karen your only aim is to make money and go have fun for a weekend or so but all of us have family members so for you to say that we don't care bout our people is just laughable and there's nothing to fight.. our only fight is the old falling empire that enabled you to roam in our beautiful country while causing our people to immigrate and work abroad in shitty jobs with none or little privileges.

That is the reason Asmera is in UNSCO. Because of the history Asmera survived all the bombardment of 30 year war. That what make her unique if you understand
Yes you are right Eritrea is poor and has a bad government. But you must not forget that there are also unfair sanctions imposed by your country on Eritrea, and your government has not wanted to see Eritrea as a country since the 1950s. If you think this is a lie, search your country's history on Eritrea. Glory to my people🇪🇷🇪🇷🇪🇷❤️
I never called Eritrea poor. Your country has a lot of resources and potential if the government would allow it to happen. The sanctions are not good, and the restrictions set on the people are not good either. The people deserve freedom and the right to be allowed to grow. I met a young lady who was accepted at a University in another country. She was offered a full scholarship and was not allowed to leave the country. This is not right.
@@ZannParkerThe restrictions keep US spooks at bay. They tried regime change operations with Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. Better than devastated like Syria by the US.
@@ZannParker Eritrea is what it is because of government strict policies. The bad economy started in 2001 before any sanction and has been getting worse every year since then. And the reasons for the sanctions has always been because Eritrean government refuses to abide by regional and international laws.

@@ZannParker Hi Zann.
I am doing great thanks.
This was indeed a controversial one. I got worried when you couldn’t find a decent hotel for a while and there’s no internet. I’ve read some of the comments and people seem protective of the country which is understandable, but I think they’re focusing on the wrong situation. Africa is full of wonderful, talented people and has lot of natural resources, but lack of good leaders. It is unconceivable to me that an entire country has no internet and very few hours of power during the day.
I hope the rest of your journey goes well. I know you are experienced and know how to take care of yourself.
Much love and be safe.

Love this video! As an Eritrean that was born in America, I find it best to visit Eritrea during the months of june-august. Normally Europeans show up around august and Americans are often there late may- june-july. There are often people (other foreigners) there that speak english and Tigrinya during june-july that can help very much to find things.
I am so happy you enjoyed the video!! This is a lot of beauty in Eritrea ❤️🥰🇪🇷
South Sudan is the youngest, got independence in 2011, but Eritrea is the Oldest got in independence in 1992
Correction:May 24 1991 is when Eritrea🇪🇷became an independent sovereignty & fully recognized by the International community or United Nations 🇺🇳in 1993.
She didn't say Eritrea is the youngest country. What I heard is Eritrea is one of the seventh youngest nation in the world.
SO YOU NEED TO CORRECT YOUR NARRATION.

why is no wester talked about the sanction we had for the past 20 years by uncle sam . like our president said once Eritrea is not for sell
Eritrea has been imposed a military sanction, not an economic embargo. please don't deceive yourself and don't try to lie to us 👀
@@TekolifeEritrea has two types of sanctions who proposed by USA and British .
@@Tekolife i know once a puppet to wester is always a puppet . once a trader ( banda ) always banda .

you can't blame westerner, your life going to hell is not due to others but you, Iseya's afewerki is the country problem he has ruined everything and he will not lift the country out of misery and poverty

@@ZannParker you are the most hypocrite and political illiterate or you must have an agenda paid by enemies.
