Robert Plant always sang the vocals lower in this song Live. I don’t get why this dude had to hit those high notes of the recording. The guy was obviously killing himself trying to do it, noticeably ruining his vocals as the song went on
he's struggling because he doesn't understand the simplicity of that groove is what makes the beat so special. The guitar is all over the place, and Bonham would usually just followed Page, but moments like this tune and Kashmir were brilliant because the drumming counterpoints with those complicated guitar parts or parts that were in another time signature, on top of having huge, resonant drum sounds REALLY make them stand out in an otherworldly way.

When Phil Collins played with "The Musical Box" in Geneve after 35 years, he needed to rehearse for some hours. Carmine obviously did not prepare for that Song.
Carmine, is a great dummer being very skilful and technical as what we see. However, this is a classic real life demo of over cooking the original song to the point of it being terribly bad to listen to. It’s like a drum solo and the ‘black dog’ song is just filling in the gaps.

My god, man, Carmine is clueless on how to play this song. Also, to the singer. Those vocals are hard as hell. No reason to kill yourself on the high vocal everytime it comes around.

It's that bassist and the whole band that's out of time ,you are tone deaf ,good grief.
Robert Plant always sang the vocals lower in this song Live. I don’t get why this dude had to hit those high notes of the recording. The guy was obviously killing himself trying to do it, noticeably ruining his vocals as the song went on
ZEP WOULD LAUGH THESE GUYS RIGHT OFF THE STAGE AND BOHNAM , WELL , Y'ALL ALREADY KNOW WHAT HE'D DO !!!!!!
I think Carmine was on his own mental gig! He didn't care about the band performance.
This shows how good Bonzo was and how he made it seem easy. Carmine apparently is having a hell of a hard time with this song.
he's struggling because he doesn't understand the simplicity of that groove is what makes the beat so special.
I'm sure Bonham even had a hell of a time with this song lmao....and it shows in The Song Remains the Same
Hard time?
Carmine did an amazing job
@@rogerwelsh2335I'm gonna have to assume you're partially deaf
Just love seeing Carmine hammer these Vistalites...and Carmine just loves to flail on what he calls FALLING ROCKS...John Bonham does a great job in playing these too...Carmine just stomps these drums with passion...nice to see Carmine put these drums to work ala Bongo himself lol...right on BONGO !!
Who's Bongo?
Looks like Carmine playing like he doesn't take the gig seriously. just sayn
very well..............................................
Thst bass is up! Who's the singer?? Carmine is a legend
It’s like a drum solo and the ‘black dog’ song is just filling in the gaps.
the " Black Dog " song is a rip off off " Oh Well "
FTDy
Listen to the album "Beck ,Bogart and Appice..on drums...great album...don't judge Carmine Appice ...from this song performance.......i saw him live with Vanilla fudge when i was 13 in 1967.....at Linken Park Ball Room Dartmouth ma. ....he and the band was great......
Carmine was a groundbreaking drummer in his day. Bonham's whole sound is a derivative of Carmine's sound.
Carmine was very innovative...he's just fucking this up because of his giant unchecked ego IMO
The die in his hair and Stache really effected his playing. 😂
You mean affected , Instead ?
your an ass. you clearly dont play and understand how difficult Bonhams timing is ... idiot. he is also like 65
My god, man, Carmine is clueless on how to play this song.
Also, to the singer. Those vocals are hard as hell. No reason to kill yourself on the high vocal everytime it comes around.
I think the commentary here is a bit hyper-critical. This wasn’t that bad. Dude has chops. So it was a little loose in places? So what. That’s live rock n roll. Lighten up.
The whole world is a critic.
AGREED
Nah he got paid for this. He is supposed to be a professional, and it sounds like trash.
I agree, people are exaggerating
Great Job Guys
Met CARMINE in ‘81’ we had a drum off competition at the club I worked at & him Joey Kramer(Aerosmith) Bruce Krump(Molly Hatchett) & Brian Downey(Thin Lizzy) we’re there just to judge & JAM. WOW!!, Carmine was INCREDIBLE!!!! the other guys were to OF COURSE. This performance by Carmine was NOT AT ALL up to his standards 👎🥴😒
Carmine is also pushing 80 yrs.old. Give him a break. He's played with more famous and not so famous bands that you can't remember all of them. He is still a GOD.
The inspiration for Bonham at Bonham's tribute :) Bittersweet. He was a bit out of sync the first two verses, but then bang on! Thats a great musician.
Carmine being Carmine! Awesome! =)
O vocal desta musica exige muito do vocalista,não é facil ,mas vocês todos foram maravilhosos ....muito bom, parabens a todos
Awful singing!
Hey guys, don't mind me, I'm going to play a little drum solo thing here before we play the song!
No one sounds like Bonzo, no one ever will.
You gotta have respect for him though he was one of John Bonham's influences.
Turkey Sandwich Carmine's a good dude!
Appice is greater than Bonzo, jack!
People outside of musicians have no idea who he is, but they know Led Zeppelin's drummer!
+the artist there both great just wish carmine was more known
Met and talked drums with Carmine two different times in LA and he was really nice both times.
Wow. Just officially gave out my first thumbs down on RUclips. Absolutely murdered the song just cause he wanted to do his little stick flips and wack off with meaningless drum fills. That’s how NOT to pay tribute to one of the greatest drummers of all time.
fantastic bass tone
i love him always did .... but in this clip he's a pure, grade AA, garden variety basket case
My fav Zep tune by uncle Carmine on the skins and boyz !! A beautie !!
the singer is really struggling to hit the high notes!!!!
Forget about it Carmine!...hey!..👍..where's the Fonze!...
fantastic drumming! good rendition!
The singer has Robert plants hand gestures, that's about it
Man Carmine is a beast! Love that guy ❤️ 🥁
Imagine being more famous for your name, than for your playing??? Such is the case for many lucky so-called musicians!!!
Oh dear. (Know what I mean?)
Best part was Carmine warning up. Rest was rubbish.
Watching this one realises what a truly great drummer Mitch Mitchell was. 👍👍🤪
