Great tips. I've caught hundreds of blackfish and I don't scale them nor remove the guts. With a little practice you can fillet without piercing the gut cavity. Even better crab bait too.

Blackfish are lovely eating and fantastic sport - plus some of the places you find them can get a bit "sporting" too. Great to see someone actually taking home a decent feed of fish on RUclips. Will try that loop knot hook set-up next time. Never stop learning new tricks on catching these fantastic fish.

I don't think I've ever specifically targeted Blackfish, but I've caught stacks on bread flies around jetties and shot one with the speargun. Actually a pretty good eating fish.
Well done on a very informative video, I've definitely learnt something and will be trying it out when I get the chance.
    Cheers

Sometimes I will bake them whole, the black lining in the gut can have an unpleasant taste, I've found scrubbing it out with a toothbrush works great

Yeah I’ve had mixed results when cooking whole. Now I just do fillets and it’s always good.
