- Gary Numan is a fascinating and surprisingly affable guy - he’s a singer, a songwriter, a composer and producer, and one of the great electronic pop pioneers.
Tubeway Army started as a punk band and, under his Gary Numan persona, quickly metamorphosed into the most popular electronic futurist band of the early 80’s.
He is creatively driven, a true artist who clearly doesn’t flinch from controversy, and he has a unique vision which explains his enormous and loyal fanbase. He has sold over 10 million records, and that is no joke.
He also loves aircraft and aviation - wait for the story at the end of the podcast - jaw dropping…

Gary has stayed Humble all His Career but he's definitely worthy of the recognition he now receives . his music stands out among many and continues to . Great Interview Martyn .

Memories. Carlsbro Sounds had a System 100 back in the day that I lusted after. Wonder if that's where Martyn got his from. My first synth was an EDP Wasp from Musical Sounds 🤔

He's older than Gary Oldman. Seriously though - I'm so pleased to discover these conversations with my teen heroes. Thank you Martyn for bringing these to us.

Moment that changed my life.. being hospitalised at 28 and diagnosed with bi polar . I had to completely re- learn how to be as the way i lived my life suffocated me

Two true greats. Thank you for a great surprise in my recommended list.
And that is why Gary is not a commercial airline pilot. Instead of spending the time available going through the checklists to restart engines etc as professionals are trained to, he's busy thinking about murdering his fellow colleagues in peril with a penknife. If I ever have the pleasure of meeting Mr.Numan I will make sure I know where the exit is. Hopefully if there is no imminent threat of death, I should be safe, but I might ask to frisk his pockets for sharp objects just to be safe.

Hi .❤ I had a dream last week that I was on a night out drinking with Gary and he asked me what did I think about his latest music and concerts . I said to him your music is amazing . ❤ Martyn I love those classical music compositions you made with Sheffield University strings , this makes me wonder what you would add to a mezzo singing voice with your electronic musical mind ? Mm how interesting i wonder how you would make such a voice sound mmm

If record sales are the absolute measure of an artiste, Leona Lewis must get you excited.
I'm a little unsure who you consider Gary Numan's peers are to compare: Michael Jackson, Madonna, Rhianna......Ed Sheeran?????? Sheesh.
