And, would you still consider Vanguard Ace crucial for the deck? When we are looking to the decks from the 5k, what do you think about cunning? It's great for tempo and the +4 could apply even more pressure.. But I understand that U wing gets worse. Hmm tricky

    What're your thoughts on Overwhelming Barrage for 7? I was playing against a friend today testing 2 copies in his Han Green and on his "Han Turn" where he went for the double resource, he surprised me with Barrage on his Han Leader, instead of the classic U-Wing or Han Solo and the 6 damage spread across multiple units, in this particular game state, was devastating and won him the game for sure. It definitely made me think that it could be quite an interesting addition. Not sure if it's practical, but I've also experience many scenarios where that explosive 7 resource turn would almost benefit from removal instead of going wide - like the Barrage did for him.

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  8 месяцев назад

      It's a playable card in Han and there are defintely situation where it's good. But in general I think it's signifanctly weaker and more situational than other things you can do with other 7 resource cards like han or u wing

    Congrats Thork, you inspired me to work with Han and I am enjoying the game a lot. Some questions:
    - Against Aggro I always sideboard out the resupply, cause I don’t see the moment to skip a full turn and receive so damage, what is your thought about this?
    - Against Aggro don’t you think Leia would be good in the end against the big ships?
    - Sideboard in main deck: you are focusing on starting balanced against Boba, but don’t you think would be good to be more balanced with some Yularen and others in main deck (1 or 2)
    PS: I am very happy to see you including in main deck Soark of R as I decided it several weeks ago is amazing. The good advice you have is using it in first turn, I really like it!

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks
      -Resupply is often too risky vs aggro but it's better than Mothma. If aggro has a slow start ramping is still one of the best thing your can do.
      -She is ok in the late game, that's why I keep 1, by the time you reach the late game you likely have drawn your copy and all you have to do is loop her with Skirmisher and home one to play her multiple times.
      -Yularen is only good against aggro, so no I would not want any in my main deck personally.

    Congrats on the win! I’ve been enjoying playing a slightly different Han Green! So fun to pilot!
    Edit: how do you feel about Bamboozle? I use it in place of a few waylays because of the lower cost and serves a similar purpose. I use it a bunch against anyone who is upgrading cards and still gives me wiggle room to play a heavier unit

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks,
      I far prefer Waylay over bamboozle. To exhaust unit we already have Leia which is far better. Besides we have to be careful to not include too many non-unit cards in this deck as you need a lot of them to make U-wing good.

  • @DiegoDeschain
    @DiegoDeschain 8 месяцев назад

    I think the only reason why Han green hasn't been hyped to the level that it probably deserves, is that is has an insanely high skill ceiling. You take a deck like Sabine and it pretty much pilots itself (I'm being hyperbolic here, of course there are still gaps in performance based on who's piloting any deck), while Han's ability adds many more layers of complexity to the decision-making process thoughrout the entire game, making it very hard to play well compared to some other decks.

  • @jccloud7

    Well done! I'm playing a lot of Han Green right now, it's great fun. It's nice to see it can do well competitively too.

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  8 месяцев назад +1

      It would probably be the next best thing if Skirmisher didn't exist. But right now it's redundant with skirmisher who is a lot better in my opinion.

    • @jccloud7
      @jccloud7 8 месяцев назад

      @@Thorrk_THT can you please explain in a bit more detail?
      Getting a 2 cost unit back from the discard is great for sure, especially in Han. But being able to instantly take down Boba unit, Hask, a big Emperor's Royal Guard and other strong targets seems very relevant, as well as dealing some overwhelm to keep pressure up.
      Would love to hear your thoughts!

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  8 месяцев назад +2

      @@jccloud7 It's relevant yes but not as relevant as getting a 2-cost unit back Cards you mentioned are easily dealt with traitorous and Han unit.
      The 6 HP is also very relevant against control (out of takedown range) and the rebel trait is very important for Mothma.

      @Thorrk_THT  8 месяцев назад +1

      I don't consider Luke vigilance a particularly good deck so i don't have a lot of experience against it.
      Against Luke green however I do. My tips are:
      - Waylay is the most important card of your deck play it carefully.
      - Redemption is very strong against us, be ready for a long and grindy game. Focus on value and keeping the board under control, if you try to play aggro you better have a plan to win before turn 7 otherwise you will lose to redemption.
      -Play around luke jedi knight and luke's lightsaber.
      This is a very balanced MU. If you have a meta full of luke I recommend playing boba yellow or green.

    What are your thoughts on Lando? Some other creator I can’t think of his name was saying that Lando was insanely good in Han since it allowed you to pick up late game cards that you’ve resourced, and it also can be ECL’d into iden for a clean kill.

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  8 месяцев назад

      Yes I saw that video and I completely disagree for several reasons:
      - Not playing ECL has been a huge improvement for the deck. There are simply not enough good reasons to run ECL and a Lando is definitely not a good one imo.
      - Unless you are in super super late game, Bouncing your own resource is not a good idea you always need those resource to play throughout the game.
      - Lando + ECL play is only good against Iden and the mirror. It's a cool play but the cost of having to play ECL as well as the mediocre Lando to support a MU that I consider a good MU for Han is a bad idea in my opinion. And it's not like Iden is a particularly scary leader against me anyway, my strategy against Iden is to let her lose here shield in some way and then I can kill her with almost anything, having her staying around is not particularly scary to me.
      So the short answer is that, if I need more help against control I would much rather play Bodhi Rook.

    Also in one of the matches, kotul says that his use of 2 Palps and 1 lighting was a choice based on him only owning that many of those cards and wanting to play a deck he fully owned. Kotul also said the deck still has room for improvement of he was to use cards he doesn't own.

      It's a tough Match up for sure, good thing Palp is being mostly gatekept out of the meta by aggro.
      The first thing you got to do is play around palp's ability by focusing on playing multiple smaller unit rather than one big one(using U-wing). The ideal scenarios is to put enough pressure so palp has to be deployed prematurely to steal something small ( or nothing at all). If you can't, make sure you have waylay so you can bounce the stolen big unit back in your hand.
      Once Palp is gone the deck definitely has the tool to beat in the late game (unless you play against someone crazy who plays 3 devastators)

      @@Thorrk_THTi truly think that even without sideboarding other midrange decks (esp boba, somewhat luke) are the only deck's i remotely stuggle against, i was thinking maybe frontline shuttle replacing bodhi in sb and taking out mothmas in the matchup to help with vlaue trading more often in your favor using han unit (and to make your leader exaust proof tho usually barrage or steadfast is the threat), or just getting damage into base then defeating shuttle to still take a favor trade after. What are your thoughts on this, if you think the frontline shuttle wouldnt be favorable what may be?

    Anyone can play, but not everyone will. There are large numbers of card game players who are completely averse to online tournaments

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  8 месяцев назад +4

      True and that's completely fine.
      My point is most good players play online and a good number of them play in that league making it particularly competitive.
      The reason is very simply: it's quite difficult to play the game enough and reach a good level if you rely only on IRL play.
      With that being said I agree that IRL should be the primarily focus. But until we have more and bigger official tournaments from FFG, I will work with what we have. Atm those tournaments are VERY interesting to look at if you want to learn more about the game at a competitive level.

      True. Its also much more difficult to play hours upon hours of real games versus a league where you play a few games a week. I doubt the top brackets in this league were back to back either.

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  8 месяцев назад

      @@buckeyedave7 Ok so it depends on what information you are looking for:
      - If you are looking to see who is the best tournament player, it's true that winning from the comfort of your home doesn't mean you'll be a good player IRL, I have an extensive tournament experience and I can tell you my first MTG GP was a disaster !
      - If you are looking to see decks confronted to each other to understand how the match-ups play out when the decks are played at their best, then this kind of tournament definitely is more interesting.
      In most cases I think people are looking for the latter.
      And to answer your questions: yes the top bracket of this league have quite a few back to back players, Astrotech is 2 time champions and SIP was the former champion. I personally took part in every top cut and so are a few other players like Towernumber9 and others...

    Glad to see people have figured out that you shouldn’t use a 25 HP base unless there’s a good reason. I’ve been preaching it for like a month and everyone has been saying I’m crazy.
    I took ECL out of my Sabine deck a month ago. It’s the exact opposite of what you are trying to do with an aggro deck.

    Well done! That said and seriously...On what basis is this tournament the most prestigeous online tournament? Because some content creators play in it? Is there any other online league and tournaments? Does anyone care about winning this tournament?

    • @Thorrk_THT
      @Thorrk_THT  8 месяцев назад +2

      Prestige is a subjective notion I used that term for the title on purpose. My actual opinion is that this tournament (all 4 seasons included) is the highest level of play I have personally seen so far on Star Wars Unlimited (more details about that in the video).
      I have watched every possible tournament coverage available on RUclips and Twitch and in my opinion no tournament come close to the level of play you will be able to see in this tournament. Which is pretty normal if you think about it, most tournaments are still very much on the local level. So naturally a tournament that's known and worldwide is gonna gather stronger players. If you don't believe what I say, I invite you to simply go watch it and see for yourself.
      Obviously this is true now as the game is still very recent but I have no doubt it won't remain the case as FFG starts big IRL official tournament.
      With all that being said I still need to watch the 5k tournaments that happened Orlando this weekend, maybe this tournament will feature a even higher level of play.

    • @WhiskeyjackZA

      @@Thorrk_THT Yeah I hear you, but I would have just said biggest current online league / tournament. Wait until money is on the line and there is more actual decent online tourneys with "official tournament rules" - before maybe calling it most prestigious, best players and highest level of play.
      I pay more attention to a 5k or just weekly events. For one, there is a big difference between IRL and online, from stamina to pressure to variety. As you also point out, in this setup you had time to practice before / specifically for a matchups. You had a locked in and old meta. (I mean it was also content creators and online players that told us Boba ECL, Sabine ECL, Iden ECL). If I also understand correctly you could switch decks between league and top cut? (Also during league?) - if not it is even just a longer locked in meta with known matchups / time to practice. I think all of this also impacts on your best player / highest level of play argument. (Of course play is high if you can study and practice against your next matchup)
      I do think it is useful data and a good test of certain matchups / deck ideas - but actually in terms of IRL play, it doesn't translate that well...Also whilst it is a good skills challenge, again I think it does nothing to test IRL skills like stamina, pressure, variance and even deck building aspects (time pressure, mental drain of decks, how easy to adjust / sideboard if you have time vs IRL, ditto IRL desciscions vs play testing your gameplan for the matchup)
      I am also a bit skeptical of the online and content creator bubble...Some people telling you Han is not competitive, yellow doesn't work in aggro, ECL is too good not to play a month (or even week ago)...telll you the next week they discovered the new cutting edge and have a hot take on ECL (is often a crutch), deck X (they rubbished a month ago) and parrot the same stuff from their bubble. (Again, not saying a lot is not valid, I consume a lot of content, but just that you have to be careful of the online content bubble as well)

      @@Thorrk_THT Agree! Although I do think the matchup point is debatable in terms of how much weight the theoretical information available from this online format, applies to a faster and more dynamic meta and IRL play considerations.
