Félicitations de tes fans de Montréal!! Well deserved as far as I'm concerned. I run your Bossk from set two and it's so much fun to play! Really appreciate all of your input and analysis. Keep going strong!
@@Thorrk_THT I was watching you on stream ;) I took a break in Set 2 after winning some Showdowns but I'm back now in full force gearing up for Set 3 Showdowns & PQ! Will see you at Galactic Championships!
Congratulations on the victory! Such a fan of your videos and can't wait to see the deck tech. Regarding the meta I agree its disappointing seeing the lack of the set three archetypes and mechanics. My first thought seeing the new token generators essentially was that those look cool, but I worry they'll mainly be used as cheap bodies for Palpatines leader action and ways to play around power of the dark side? I mean its good that new cards see play and I don't mean to disparage existing decks, it would just be nice to see something 'new' emerge rather than solely supplementing existing decks. I completely agree with the chess clock idea, I genuinely think that for multiplayer turnbased games its one of if not the best system. It turns the time management element into a situation of each player managing their own time rather than the games time, which inherently combats time wasting and slow play. Also you can implement an increment meaning you can set (and tweak) if players gain any time at completion of a move which may help a little with the games being decided on time purely. Thats maybe even something you alter as rounds go on, have it be more generous in the eraly rounds then increase the pressure later on rather than shorten the general round time? I understand there might be practicality concerns at first implementing something like that, but my priority has generally always been fairness and to me the chess clock promotes fairness so I'm in favour. Again though, congratulations :)
Congrats! I tried out your list and while it’s just not how I like to play I can’t argue with how strong it especially into the mid range pile up going on right now
Congrats for your win and this is a great report. Agree with you that the tie break rule in this tournament is fair as long as both players are well informed and also agree that unlimited time is not a solution. However, chess clock might be tricky to apply in SWU. In chess, it is very definitive how a player turn begin and end (each player make a move and 1 move only in a turn). In SWU, there are a lot of player interaction where it happened during the card play, so it migth easily run into the position of being tricky to decide the exact point of time you should tap the clock and stop it.
While I agree, I would take this over having no "record" of time / clock system. So even if the opponent spend time on my activation reacting to a trigger etc - it is still better IMHO for two reasons (I) you have some reference points for how long he is taking (ii) even with this added to your time - you still have more agency / scope to manage time. In other words, it becomes really difficult for him to not waste time on his activation and even on your activation you could actually see he is taking 2 min to resolve a trigger than have to tell a judge often when it is too late to come and watch...
Statistically, not that good of a player, huh? LOL. I am sorry for teasing you, and on a more serious note, congrats! You did a phenomenal job both on this channel and in this game and it is wonderful to hear you get these results. Congrats again and continue to be amazing mate!
Think the Blue Hero decks struggled as they teched heavily against the Jango TT matchup and because of that hurt their control matchups which seem to have eaten all the Anakins alive.
Control indeed does well into Anakin, but the biggest offender by far was Cad red which DEMOLISHED Anakin 2-12 match record in swiss absolutely brutal: play.limitlesstcg.com/tournament/ope-swu3-premier-event/metagame/TWI-012/matchups
Congrats for the win! some crazy games there ;) I think it's really bad for the game that set 3 has so little impact on the game, we were already coming from a 1.5 meta, not a 2.0 one, but now it's even worse. In a world where Boba had never existed, we'd be talking about a game design disaster (since the best thing about set 3 was Boba's ban saving the day). As you say, each collection adds 33% of new cards, and saying that set 1 contributes 50% is being generous with the other sets. Many decks seem new, and only the leader and 2 cards have changed.
Congratulations! Well done and deserved. Think it is way to early to make very firm conclusions on meta. This is like the 2nd major tournament, lots of new card experimentation and a bit like pre-PQs set 2. Jango definitely arrived and is good - but I feel slightly pushed vs results. Lots of people playing it but it is not dominating. Still think Rey TT and midrange hero is good against a lot of field (including Jango) just needs tweaking and good players to start playing it (again recall set 2 early meta vs PQs). Bossk thought is very well positioned and I think will stay all the way into PQs as big meta contender. Not a fan of current situation with tiebreakers. Especially that hard control is also often well positioned to win tiebreakers. Especially Bossk with these breakers. Whilst it is better than a Vigilance / Mill snooze fest - I think it is debatable how much it comes down to luck, especially in the sub 5min games and base damage tiebreakers in general can be pretty swingy (lucky heal or lucky boost). I wanna see chess clocks. This game allows for it more than most. In chess - time management and clock pressure - are considered skills. I think if the game can reward this rather it is for the better. (Even if not perfect with some plays where opponent needs to run his clock in your activation OR you have to keep running yours while he does something - is preferable - gives information on slow playing as well to players & judges). Especially at big tourneys but really chess clocks apps are also a thing...
Game games in round 1, as you said it shouldn't have been anywhere near as close as it was, Phantom's OP. Congratulations on the win! See you at the next one hopefully not round 1 tho ;)
I analyzed the Han1 decks and 2 of the 9 decks were han1 green which performed not that good (1-4 and 1-7). I think its a good choice at the moment but the lists were not really optimized for the meta.
It's not only a meta issue, white/green got almost nothing good from set 2 and set 3 and by contrast yellow/white got a lot, there are simply less and less reason to play han1 green as new sets get released, I hope this will change as I really love the deck obvioulsy.
I am a competitive player first and foremost I play what I believe to be the most powerful and fits my playstyle. As much as I love the deck, I feel no obligation what so ever to pursue an archetype which has gotten not significant upgrade in the last 2 sets, especially when there are similare alternatives that I think are more competitive (han1 yellow). With all that being said, if I find a Green han build that is a significant breakthrough for the archetype I will surely show it on the channel :) .
I don't quite understand the sideboard penalty situation. What did he do that is against the rules? Are you not allowed to sideboard between game 1 and 2?
Congratulations!!! I feel like they should adjust the time out rules for the top 8. As a viewer, it wasn't the best experience to see it decided by time. All that being said, I'm very happy you won. I'm a big fan of your videos.
Congrats man, but if your deck becomes Meta...I'll take a break from competitive lol. I agree on all your timing points at the end, we gotta keep it fun for everyone and a TOP 16 in a rock/paper/scissors meta would be better for that size.
@@Thorrk_THT I have this deck more or less, and we run it as a test along with Q'ira green. I just don't want to play super long games all the time lol. I mainly play Bossk but I switched to green last set to see if I can get a top 8 PQ cut with something off meta now. Set 1 meta I couldn't stand but our community never had the Boba abuse in Set 2 so probably a factor.
Only thing i dont agree is with finals having time u need a champion with a clear win, not infinite but more than enough for finishing and top cut more than 50 thats for sure .
Congratulations! Just wanted to say I disagree about unlimited time in the top 8. The tournament should be structured properly where you plan for the untimed top 8. It works for other games and it will allow the games to be played like they are supposed to be played and finished for everyone who battled through the swiss rounds.
Thanks, The games were played the way they are supposed to be played we played by the official rules from FFG, and if you ask me, that nail-biting conclusion was far more interesting, skill-testing, and entertaining than a regular control mirror (oopps I milled your 2 vigilances: gg wp) We will agree to disagree I guess, unlimited time tournament can be an absolute nightmare for TO and players, if day 2 had lasted for an extra 2 hours I would have missed my flight so no thanks. Even living aside the logistical issues, without any incentive to play faster, games will be very long and extremely boring I don't think this would be good for the game at all!
@@Thorrk_THT Your thoughts on it are really good! I can honestly see both sides of the coin. I do like the extra time for top 8 then both players knowing the rules makes for interesting games. I also agree that I wish they would cut to top 16 for day 2. I think playing all the rounds at the same time instead of one at a time would help a lot with timing of everything too.
@@jonathanriddell1608 yes as I said in the video, I would rather have them go for top 16 and have the 2 semi-finals happen at the same time (which would also be more fair).
The Match up is not favorable but far from catastrophic, the big weakness of Han1 yellow is that it doesn't have real removal for big late game card like Krayt dragon and Avenger. So if you can get there has hard control the win is usually only a matter of time.
I found it hilarous that hard control player argue a game when you need deal damage to your opponent is more enjoyable :P. Aside of that that's the most "non-issue controversy" I have seen in a while. Just read the rules -_-
Well that's in the context of the control mirror because the alternative is do nothing hope to win the russian roulette with vigilance. I love playing control but I surely do not enjoy playing the mirror and I was not expecting to see a lot of hard control and that's a big reason that made me pick the deck.
The incentive to play at a decent speed should be sportsmanship and not being a DB. If I play against a staller they will not be happy with how I interact with them. No real reason to play slow ever.
