    I've seen (and have copies of -- except for Suzume) all of Shinkai's films. And I love them all. Of course, Your Name is my favourite but I'd recommend *_ALL_* of his films, including Voices of a Distant Star, because they're so very good. Great review, BTW so thanks.

    not the biggest fan of anime movies, but I actually really liked your name. The animation here also looks beautiful. Might bring the kids to go watch this. What is it rated?

      Happy to hear you liked Your Name! I think if you and your kids loved that, then you will also enjoy Suzume!!! 😉 The movie is PG, so definitely for the whole family

    Shawn!! I’ve been waiting to see your review as I wanted to go into the movie knowing absolutely NOTHING. I think you may have more experience than with me anime movies and those of other creators and studios, as I guess I am a Shinkai die hard 😂
    LOVED hearing about your personal growth with anime and how that’s transpired with you back when until present and I agree, this movie is just beautiful.
    I was glued to Suzume’s journey, but I agree with your negative!!

    Great review, Shawn!
    Love the backstory for the Director’s career! Haven’t seen any of his previous works, so it’s cool to get that history leading up to this film! Also, great recap of the plot for this film! Honestly, the trailer was visually stunning, but I didn’t have a clue about the actual story of this film…. Lol

    For all your admiration for the film, 4.25/5 is a little low. And your gripe on the film about redundancy I believe doesn't hold weight because it's all part of the journey that adds to what Suzume feels at the end. And I just like to discuss Shinkai films so don't take offense please. All just good conversation about another masterpiece from the master.

    • @lostinthereel
      @lostinthereel  Год назад +1

      A 4.25 is a very high score from me! Out of 63 new release films I've seen so far this year, Suzume is my #1. As for my issue with redundancy, we can agree to disagree. There were a few moments in the middle that I just felt like I was watching the same formula happening over again. But, obviously we both really loved the film 😃 and I am always down to talk Shinkai with another fan 😉

      @@lostinthereel I've watched travel blogs from Japan and it seems Japanese people are resoundingly welcoming and nice to travelers lol so again I thought the interactions with the few people on the journey gave Suzume a sisterly interaction she needed so she could be a teenager and then a motherly interaction that she needed that was warm and touching and almost made me tear up when she left her. Just fantastic scenes that just added to the feels
