The reason for this Serbian welcome is due to the relationship between Serbia and China.
After 1999, europe literally "turned their backs" to Serbia and Serbia became an outcast to europe. As a result, Serbia only had two powers to turn to: Russia and China.
Russia was still recovering from the economic catastrophe of drunk boris and China was just beginning China's "economic takeoff".
However, by the latter 2000s, China and Serbia began to develop strong economic ties and Chinese investment went from a trickle in the 2000s to multiple tens of billions of US dollars through the 2010s onward. In effect, China became the "economic ally" in the face of european economic blockade of Serbia.
THAT is why the grand welcome of Xi by the Serbians.

and the US has exactly the same legislation in their country forcing ngo’s to declare their foreign funding. I wonder who might be threatened by this georgian bill becoming law. it’s such a cliché but if you ‘follow the money’ it’s obvious what’s going on. when China kicked out all the ngo’s from Hong Kong, the ‘grassroots democracy protests’ stopped almost overnight… funny that.

You can see a different tone dealing with China, the U.S. offers its friendship usually attached to building a military base in your country. It is sad to see the small island countries in the east being drawn into the U.S. plan……These countries will probably be drawn into a war with China triggered by the U.S. similar to what has happened to Ukraine. A lot of countries should be taking a good look at Ukraine before making friends with the U.S..

    1. Free trade agreement for 95 % goods from Serbia
    2. 28 agreements signed between Serbia and China
    3. Political support for Serbia in ALL international institutions
    4. Chinese investments in Serbia, ensuring economical growth
    5. Probably much more which hasn't been shared with public, including military, intelligence, etc.
    6. Railway from Belgrade to Budapest with speed trains.
Any other country in Europe can ONLY dream about this.
Why Serbia? Simple because we are once more on the right side, fighting new oppressors.

The Al Udeid Air Base is the largest US military installation in the Middle East, capable of housing more than 10,000 troops. Qatar is one of the US' non-NATO allies, allowing the use of its air base in Doha to promote the alliance's anti-war efforts in the Gulf.
