i went thru the exhaust bolt debockle on my 86 i wound up getting the 2 broken ones out and made some new studs. i put on a dg system wich if i remember right also fit a 400ex
It's funny you came out with this video. I just bought a 1986 350X last night. I'm starting to plan out its restoration. Enjoy your videos to get ideas.
I love your videos. Beautiful work on this 350x. I'm sure you get asked a lot, but are you available to find/restore another one? I'm sure we can work something out that would be a fun experience AND worth it. Please let me know.
Thanks brother! I appreciate that. Looking back, there are SOOOO many things I would have done differently on that build. I do get asked that from time to time. My problem is time... I work a full time job... I'm a very active family guy... so there's just not enough hours in the day. Most of what you're seeing in my videos is me before work from 6AM to 730AM, then some time on the weekends. So I'm doing pretty much all I can do...
@@ThisOldTrike Totally understand. Can I ask a favor? If you come across an opportunity could you keep me in mind? I'm right in the capital area myself. I've seen a few decent looking machines out west, but buying something sight-unseen and shipped across the country feels sketchy. Also followed that Mecum madness a few months back. I'm shocked at what that 200x and 350x sold for....even with a red chain. 😁
Love the video man a lot of people don't realize how long it really takes to restore any motorcycle from frame off it's a lot of hard work but the end result if you know what you really doing is a work of art
Thank you for taking the time to make this video! Wow! Excellent job! I'm hoping to pick up another 350X tomorrow, unless someone buys it out from under me, which is common. Saved this video to use during my restoration. Thanks again!
Thank you so much man!! I don't think I could have bought the machine so cheap these days... and I definitely wouldn't have sold it so cheap either... But, for when it was, it was a fair deal on both sides I think.
Always look forward to ur content... I've had tons of comments on my honda hoarder merchandise!! Question I need a 350x headlight one of my is clouded really bad any idea where to find one
That is a lot of work. But, so satisfying to see the outcome. It really did turn out awesome. I appreciate the tips and tricks you shared. I might need them for my future restoration. And, I have the same paint both model as you! 😊
Turned out great. Ive always had this thing where i dont like the seat cover and rear fender decals to read the same thing lol. My old seat cover used to say ATC on it so i got 350X decals. Now my new cover says 350X so i ordered 87 200x style ATC rear fender decals but in reverse colors for red fenders.
I love this video!! Honestly, I like the darker Swinger. Gives it a nicer contrast I think. I wish we could still sell 400EX carbs for $147!! Those days are long gone sadly.
I have a 1985 350x . Sat around for ??? Yrs . Got it running . Bought a aftermarket coil and light/kill switch . My issue is the headlight and tail light ! I turn the switch on and nothing . I turn it off and light comes on . I flick the high/ low beam and on one the taillight turns off . Flip the switch and it comes on ! I still need to take the headlight bulbs out to see if the low beams are burnt out . Because I don’t get low beams . I hate electrical !
Just subscribed. I bought two Wanda John Deere "gator" tires and alway wondered what direction they were supposed to go. I'm new to the 3 Wheeler world. I'm almost positive this is the same tire I have. Thanks!

Looks good. The painted mud flap is a nice touch. I’m sure it was nice having a complete bike to start with. I bought a basket case my brother and I are piecing together and it’s a struggle. Ha
Hey man, I just connected some dots... I watched your 250ES/350X front end sway and oil cooler install videos years and years ago and it was one of many factors that inspired me to start my channel. Good turn out!! I do have a question for you Preston, I just bought a 79 atc 110 for $50 about 3 days ago but I’m almost 100% certain the “trans” in it is roached should I sell it off make some money off it or take it apart and go through the gears?
Honestly... I don't know.... By that I mean I don't know how big of an issue that is to fix or repair... You can probably find a motor to swap out with that and fix it that way almost easier than it would be to take it all apart and try to find the issue and fix it that way. If your end goal is to keep it and ride it... and do that sometime in the near future... I'd probably look for a motor swap in some of the 110 groups on facebook. OR... you can part it out and put that cash towards the next machine... Not sure that helped, but those are my 8AM thoughts... lol

Wow, that's a lot of capital letters... I think you may need to relax a little, brother. So, yes, you are correct, I did not do a factory restoration as I had originally planned, but the project took a turn once my buddy who was buying it made some changes. But... I would definitely argue that the value of the machine went up through the process and if you disagree with that you're just wrong. If I did a true factory restoration, would it be worth more?? Well obviously. But I'd recommend taking a breather... turning the caps lock key off... and maybe watching some of my other videos to see more about be before you come back in my comments, guns blazing...
