Adele: How to Be Authentic
Adele might be the best singer alive. Her music is soulful and moving. What’s fascinating about her is that the “honesty” in her music extends to her interviews and offstage interactions. So in this video I want to explore what makes Adele come across as so genuine. We'll watch her interviews with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show, James Corden on Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show, and Fredrik Skavlan on Skavlan. We'll also listen in on her song "Someone Like You" to watch how she delivers it with such pure emotion.
Learning where that feeling arises from will make it easier for you to spot fakers and it will make it possible for you to become more genuine yourself, which will make people you barely know trust you and want to get to know you better.
James Corden And Adele Singing Carpool Karaoke: www.youtube.co....
The three things that Adele does so well that will we cover are:
1) Smiling Genuinely
2) Being Honest And Congruent With Her Feelings
3) Praising Others Openly And Freely

Being authentic takes a lot of work. You must watch videos and read books about how to be authentic. Observe authentic people and imitate their behavior. Practice being authentic into a mirror.
im on the floor laughing
ohh the irony.
lol
Well it takes a lot of work to get rid of habits we have, that not only inhibit us from being authentic, but are in general not creating results, that are in our favor.
max springfeild LMAO
Ok, I'm going to binge watch this channel Friday.
Lol
right!
You should do a video about Tupac Shakur. He had insane charisma. And I like how he could be very kind, happy, peaceful but other times he could be very assertive, expressive even agressive. And its incredible that his strong spirit and presence persists even to these days. I think that is very unique.
Who is him? I just know about Tupac Amaru
Gracia María Espinoza do you live under a rock? 🤣
Yasss most definitely do 2Pac Shakur. Please! 😍
Just discovered that Swedish lullaby - it's sooo beautiful!
If anyone interested - it's called "Vem Kan Segla Förutan Vind" and is about loosing your friends.
thanks!!
its hard to be a human
I wish i was a rock
Ladies and gentlemen... we got em
True
Right???????
where do you come from,A K?im from asgard, how bout ya?
Great video. Something that I think you guys should do a lot more is showcase bad examples of charisma, confidence and whatnot. Most people learn more from mistakes than they do from perfection.
+Ryan Mccreadie G.O.A.T. profile pic
This is a REALLY good suggestion!
+Ryan Mccreadie Looks like this is killing it in votes, so I'll definitely add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion :-)
+Charisma on Command I think any Anna Faris interview is a good example
+madda8ro in the negative sense I mean..
Great video. I like how you focus more on how to become the thing you want to be and not how to fake it. I would love to see more counter-examples. When you talked about smiling and later about congruence I really wanted to see examples of obviously fake smiles and of bad congruence. I do realize though that can be lots of extra work. Anyhoo, looking forward to the next one!
+imaytag That's a great suggestion and one I should have thought of. Next time!
+Charisma on Command i know you do a lot of videos using interviews to analyze charisma but would you ever consider doing a video on exploring body language and charisma on a singer's body language? like how some musicians just kill a great solo by just standing there like an amateur politician vs a experienced performer like adele or brendon urie, that can really just hype up the crowd with their body language?
+Charisma on Command You should do one on DJ Khaled :D
Try Jimmy Fallon
Dayum nice comment. I wish I got this kind of feedback on my videos haha
I saw a comment in here that I agree with, despite being controversial. Try doing Hitler, he was a horrible man whom's ideas were crazy and horrific, but his speeches made people rally behind him, so he must've been a powerful speaker. If you feel comfortable making a video on him, please do
The winners of war write history
I think it would be hard to analyze him because it's all in german
There already is a video about him. It is called: Why Trump will smash Hilary.
This is totally one of the problems I have with my videos... I went to broadcasting school, so I get on camera and I go into news reporter mode. It's not that I'm trying to be anything that I'm not, I just kind of go into "on" mode and you get glimpses of how I really talk with friends here and there. I'd like to be 100% talking with friends on camera. I've actually just started noticing recently how incongruent I can be on camera. I'll say "I'm so excited" but it's practically monotone! Something to work on. Thank you so much!!!! Great video!
°Glad to be of service!
Charisma on Command :) you're definitely providing service to the world! thank you! :)
Please do a Beyonce breakdown. That woman has something I don't understand.
Yeah she is overrated
You mean the crazy ish with multiple alter egos? She can't even open up on stage and take credit for being "wild", neh, that was her ALTER..like wtf? Idk, maybe it's just me..😂
@@ThatTaRaGiRL Good point!
Yes!!
That something being no personality whatsoever
What makes Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston so charming?
how to be authentic? ... don't try to try to be authentic...
Do, or do not. There is no try.
Adam J - I know what you mean but ironically there is some trying involved in as much as letting go of bad ingrained behaviors
I love the clips of Adele, during her concerts, when she hold out her mic to the crowd and comes across a person who is fantastic...she just lets them keep singing. Love her!!
this was good and made me a bigger Adele fan. she is really genuine.
Authenticity of a person is what really matters in every kind of relationship whether it's your partner or a friend because you know that they wouldn't betray you no matter what happen. Genuine person will confront you with an honest mistake that you committed but fake people will talk nicely in front of you but will talk bad things behind your back.
Can you do this kind of a thing for Taylor Swift? I'd love to know what you think about her persona, think that'd interesting!
Ayan I agree! I always thought she seemed fake
I don't even listen to her music or pay attention to her interviews, but you having pointed out all of these aspects of her that make her authentic makes me feel like giving her music a shot.
You should do Shia LaBouf and break down his amazing story telling skills. Other than that keep up with the good work, your videos are really helpful due to them being so in depth.
+Imposter135 I was very much considering this. His story on Jimmy Kimmel kills me
Exactly! his body language made him so magnetic.
+Charisma on Command DO IT.
She is just so good that even the best and the longest description won't sketch her in full. She drills right to the deepest part of ones heart........
whenever I hear fakers, Jimmy Fallon's fake laugh echo in my ears
And I feel his table tap
Sksjsjhsh
Hell Yeah. He’s FAKE AF!!!
Imo her form of charisma is one of the most powerful, as it is something that can be put on auto-pilot much more readily. It is simply the charisma of being yourself. Instead of piling on body language, philosophies, and vocabulary that works for others, we can instead chip away the marble that prevents us from being the charismatic people we all really are inside. Not to say that achieving this form of charisma is easy, it's probably the hardest to achieve, actually. But the most satisfying, I'm sure. Great video!
+Faris Monshi Yeah you need to be really secure and at ease with yourself to get there but it has a powerful effect
omg I absolutely love that bit when adele tells james how good a singer he is, and his reaction to it... whenever I watch that carpool I always watch that bit over again
Adele has gotten so much more attractive with her weight loss. This has had a tremendous impact on her confidence and all round happiness.
Seriously guys the best thing you can do for yourselves is to work on your actual health and fitness. These videos are awesome for improving yourself. So if any of you guys aren't working on your fitness you should start and you will see so many positive results from it.
can you do one of Gal Gadot? i absolutely love her in interviews . she seems very charming and graceful
Emilia Clark laughs the same way.....I love these full, happy carefree laughs.
This video makes me realize why I make amazing first impressions and then people are turned off by me.
I'm really blunt when I first meet people then I get really self-conscious and start being weird.
And the judging others because of my own insecurities. *MIND BLOWN!*
If you're asking yourself "How do I be more authentic?" you're doing it wrong.
Same answer.
She s absolutely beautiful and has a great heart, that s why everyone loves her.
Would be interesting to see u talk about Kurt Cobain
+9LivesGamer yes
+David Reynolds yes, please!
Cool
yes
impossible. You can't analyse an angel.
Taylor Sift being the polar opposite of Adele.
+Michael Okerson haha yes
+Michael Okerson Take a look at Taylor's expression at 6:34
Other Matters : it's contempt
Emms V! Bigtime
YES TOTALLY
Conclusion: love Adele.
Dat "Aww" Adele made at the talk show stole my FREAKING HEART!, your videos are game changers man...Great job
someone like you (live at the Brits) : guaranteed tearjerker
Hi.. Please try Craig Ferguson Personality breakdown.
He was one of the most underrated talk show hosts but had such genuinity while doing interviews and off the cuff humour. It would b great
+Bharath Chandran YESSSS!!!
+Bharath Chandran Love him, definitely going to do one on him
Adele is a nice person .....she do not need a lifehack or mental trick
and that is exactly why we like her music she focuses on her music and work not looks like many other singer with great voice .
for the same reason people like her she is being nice because she is nice not because she want to appear nice
MARGARET THATCHER!!!
not just charisma but her ability to be compelling
can u do jimmy fallon fake laughs next? haha!
He actually did, too.
You can predict the future. XD
Holy shit, bro. You literally predicted his future video.
he really did haha!
You mentioned James Corden. I wanna see a video about him
+Daniel Chiodo Yeah he is great, I'll keep my eyes peeled for more good clips
He just seems like a guy anybody would love to be friends with. he makes fun of himself
I really like this video and the content of your channel. Would you consider making a video on dealing with social situations where you're unfamiliar with most of the crowd (and yet the crowd seems to be familiar with each other)?
4:15 - about self esteem (don't control the other peoples reaction and (x2) be yourself and be honest with yourself, so you would be honest with others).
Learning about how to be authentic is so crazy, but mind opening! Learning about how to be true to yourself is something I recommend everyone to do. You learn things like "Stop straining to control other peoples opinions".
This channel is amazing!
Awesome breakdown.
Thank you for this video. I have been dealing with anxiety (Panic Disorder, GAD, Separation and Social Anxiety) for many, many years. I learned something extremely important from this. If anything, I learned that there's no substitute for just being yourself.
Please do one on Tupac!
100% agree with this video, especially the part about the ego (which is really all this is saying, lose the ego fuel to be genuine and happy). I remember when I was in my teens, I had the biggest ego and it actually ended up making me very insecure because I honestly felt threatened by people who were better than me at any particular thing. After I had a moment of self humiliation I went on a track to lose that ego because I saw pretty plainly after that that it wasn't good for me. Life is a lot less stressful now, I can say that for sure
Authentic people are the best . What you see is what you get! ❤️❤️❤️
TBH i never new what Adele looked like or anything, im not into this type of music. But i see what you're saying, she sticks out like a sore thumb because she is soo genuine and benevolent among a seee of vanity and spin control. I think her mannerisms definitely make her seem very humble and down to earth.
the Adele episode of Carpool Karaoke was everything. It made me want to hang out with her and be buds, even though I'm well old enough to be her mom.
SO. MUCH. YES. I love Adele, and your descriptions of what make her so alluring and accessible are spot on. I MUST applaud you most of all, however, for using the words "Real" and Genuine" in the video but not once using "authentic" aside form the in the Video Title, which I presume is just good marketing for baiting clicks. I applaud applaud applaud. I am so sick of "authentic" as a buzzword. It's so over-used that it has become used in inappropriate ways. I think it's gotten to the point of the mere utterance of "authentic" being the most inauthentic adjective to use. So thank you. Meta-thank you. I love this channel.
Focusing on what I like and ignoring comparisons.
This. So very much. Is what I need to learn.
+ZeroSumJ1 Goes a long way :-)
I came to this channel hoping to learn more about charisma, I didn't realize how much of it I already had. But, I'm going to keep watching these videos, because they encourage positivity and the basics of being charismatic.
Hank Hill said it best, even the masters practice the basics.
She acts very human and relatable - you can see that in the Oscar speech. Most celebrities use that as a platform to preach on their political cause - climate change, milking cows, Trump, etc. Adele comes on and says "I'm a new mum and this is a great night out". Lol! It makes you laugh. She acts as the definition of down to earth.
I remember that Royal Albert Hall performance. A stunning performance of Someone Like You, and she broke down during and after it. And my mum just goes "She's not quite over him yet, obviously."
The vibe I get on 6:37 from Taylor Swift is that, that smile from her was not genuine....
true
She's the greatest person ever
The problem I have w/ this vid is, how does one make a genuine smile when you have to go converse w/ someone you don't like or care for? It's hard to be genuinely happy to meet such folks.
Dude your vids are amazing, it was just some random youtube recommendation that brought me to your channel about Tyrion being well... Tyrion (duh), probably because of game of thrones videos I've been linked to recently. And I liked what I was hearing, more like I was heavily intrigued, you are really quite the eye opener man.
I'm not an Adele fan at all but just wow, this all makes so much sense too. I've been struggling (and hoping) to learn stuff like this for self improvement for so damn long, and it feels like I'm finally after so many years getting something like a taste of it from you.
I feel journaling is really helping me get good at this.
So happy this channel worked out
Can you do Aubrey Plaza's inexplicable charm? Because she seems to do the opposite of everything you recommend!
I second Arnold Schwarzenegger as a possible Charisma on Command breakdown. Perhaps his indefatigable mentality and 'frame'. He is one of the most successful men to come up in the 20th century and it'd be amazing to see your insight into how his lack of concern or fear propelled him from humble Austria to an American national treasure.
One of the best and most valuable channels on youtube! Thank you for your work
I absolutely love this video.
Adele just looks genuine
Queen of being Athentic, Real and Geniune
Adele: "That was amazing!"
James: "AWW-."
*crashes car*
I love Adele so much
Your channel is gonna make me a great person. I can feel it. Thank you, Man! You're awesome.
Can you do Ben Prafman?
Apparently he's so interesting to listen to judges allow him to talk just to hear what he says. He speaks in such a smooth way, not sure how to describe it.
Amazing video! I really love your analysis and all the insight that you provide
Hi really like you channel and I've been watching it all day since last week, I think that it'll be very cool to make a vid on the one and only Tonny Robbins.
Thanks for the great work,
Oleg.
please do Harry Styles. He amazing
Mishael Жексонagreed. I'm a dude and I think he has amazing charisma. He's an interesting rock star of a guy
He’s extremely easy going and totally comfortable with himself. That’s what makes him so endearing. It helps that he’s very attractive too,
U work really hard brother. Thank you for your genuine support.
So far one of my faves from you.
I just randomly found your videos, and I a really appreciating them!!!
Wow this is an amazing Chanel for learning about ones self. Love it!
~ Glad you're loving the channel Charina! Feel free to subscribe for more videos if you haven't done so yet. :-)
Another incredibly authentic thing about Adele: she isn't crazily skinny, like some other music artists. She isn't fake in that way, which definitely makes her look more real.
Hey really enjoy these videos, not for just the entertainment but because they're really helpful. Please do Harvey Specter vs. Mike Ross. Both have incredible charisma and I really like the show and I would love to hear your breakdown!
I have a suggestion that would be the most helpful to us extraordinary ordinary people you know, the people who aren’t professional actors who’ve memorized their lines and have perfected the art of appearing sincere or whatever it is that they’re acting at the time. Since your words of wisdom practicality are clearly helping so many people including yourself and your friends and family, it would be something even more extraordinary and insightful to see you take a friend or willing participants out with you who share similar insecurities about their own gestures and record you going out together and coaching them through these steps so that viewers can see;
1. How they’re gestures or mannerisms speak to those around them, despite how uncomfortable it may feel so we can identify with it.
2. After coaching them while we watch so we can understand more precisely what it is that putting others off, and how exactly to demonstrate the opposite advise, when this advise should be applied to get the most effective results and in order since this is equally crucial.
3. And finally after you’ve given this advise, to allow the viewers to join you in watching your friends or willing brave participants demonstrate what you’ve showed them, allowing us to see what they do and if they can effectively accomplish what you’re advising, and for us to see HOW MUCH IT CHANGES THE WAY THEY APPEAR TO SEEM to other people.
Instead of watch clips of professional actors demonstrate “normalcy and authenticity” since its safe to say that actors practice for a very long time if not all the time that the rest of the world simply can’t do!!
By holding a giant mirror in front of people who may not even realize they’re doing the things that you’re recording may help even these people think “ Oh wow, I think I do those things in public, I can’t believe that I came off that way and even more surprising, how easy it seemed to apply the better gestures that evidently provide the better impression of myself”.
Then you’ll become a famous celebrity as will your friends and family members who will inevitably call you the real like Hitch of Charisma and you’ll go down in world history as one of the greatest, most influential people of ALL TIME!!
Well that part may be a bit dramatic, but it sure as hell will give you more credibility and more viewers! Which you must know would be pretty great right?? Now I know what you’re thinking.. “ Who is this woman and where has she been all my life??! “ Yep, I get that a lot. 😂 I’m kidding, I have a difficult time believing that I am the only person who has suggested this to you, but if I am, then I hope I’ve helped!!
Love your channel, and thank you so much for sharing your vulnerability with the world!! You rock!
I'd like to see some videos that show examples of charisma fails. Always helps to see what to do and what not to do ;)
I love looking @ Adele.
This entire video hit the nail on the head, I completely agree. Good content, keep it up!
I would love to see you do a video on Bruce Springsteen, he's honest and genuine like Adele or so I believe, he puts a 110% into everything he does a really inspirational person
This was great.
"To move others you first have to move yourself"
I wrote a piece about learning a new language and how many people translate their language into their target language and the issues with that. The main idea of that piece was that if you want to learn a new language you first have to have something you want to say. When you want to say something important or get an idea across your brain activates in a way that helps you learn the language quickly and you sound more fluent. What you are talking about here feels similar to that idea and makes so much sense.
I am thinking now how much I stop myself from feeling my own feelings. I spend way too much time wondering if I am feeling the right things rather than just embracing my feelings. Also, why am I not just enjoying and being genuinely happy more. I put way too much stress on myself and edit my thoughts and feelings way too much. Being authentic shouldn't be hard work right?
Adele is ♥️
Thank you so much. she really is real and genuine
This is great, thank you!
+Day One Adele Fans :)
Absolutely love the videos. Don't know if you'll pick this up but my favorite motivational speaker is a Gentleman by the name of Les Brown. I read one of his books when i was 17 and it changed my life. There's loads of videos on here of him. Would love to see your evaluation. Keep up the awesome work. Thanks.
You're the greatest, man, your channel and talk patterns are so cool, keep it up!
Adele is the Queen the love 😍😍
This video is the cherry on top of my monday, thank you! omg GoT yes please!
"Magentic Mindsets" On the end.
Great video. Do what you love and you will not have problems finding love.
Oh wow, How is Chris Pratt not has been breakdown by this channel ? the guy is awesome.
Loving your videos, but I just have to correct one tiny thing: Skavlan is not singing in his native language. He sings in Swedish, but is Norwegian. Probably sounds exactly the same for none-natives but eyy, we're two different countries people haha. Though I am aware he actually says "it's a Norwegian one", but believe me, it's not
I see, thank you for that.
wow fantastic! love Adele
Charisma breakdown suggestions:
Andy Samberg, who seems to be very well-liked among celebrities and is always charming on interviews.
Terry Crews, everybody loves Terry!
Graham Norton, who is my favorite interviewer and always connects with people positively.
Tony Robbins, he transmits so much energy and positivity even when he's being rough or cursing at people!
Please, these would be awesome :)
My eyes disappear when I smile/laugh so others cannot tell if it was fake or not.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the King of confidence, it would be a great episode. Glad to see your channel is literally exploding!
wow I love adele now
Love love love her. Great vid!!!!
I love Adele thnx for the video
