      Charisma on Command,
      I couldnt find a video on your take for dealing with difficult situations. For example, in teamwork situations and along with other people. I understand that praise and modesty can be utilized for gaining trust and charismatic purposes. What about advice on how to proceed when someone isnt performing in a teamwork environment. While remaining true to some charismatic philosophies you mentioned in past videos.
      I would like to pick your brain on what to do as a leader and a general member. I try to be honest and straightforward to the point. I notice some members of my team arent performing as well, most of the other members casually insult them behind their backs about their performance. Sometimes I comment on what they are doing well and make suggestions, sometimes I just tell them what they need to fix. I find that maintaining a high level of charisma in a team where some members arent performing well to be a difficult task. Sometimes I feel I am too neutral or not decisive enough to communicate while keeping in mind that I want to be charismatic with everyone.
      I was wondering what is your take on these issues. Charisma is important and utilized for different purposes at times, but I wanted to maintain the guidelines of charisma, while dealing with those issues that arise in the best way possible.

      @@Malik_Hoff A different view: That's very black and white. I like blunt people, but not people like Gary, tell me I'm bad at x y and z; I welcome that but don't touch me/hug me while you're saying it, I want respect that I can handle the truth not patronising hugs/touches (I often find he does this in place of just allowing people to air their view), that is also really dancing around peoples feelings. In essence the tactic is 'I know I'm saying all this mean stuff and not allowing you to speak but that's ok because here's a hug :D'

      Gary is the kind of person that feels the need to be dominate all the time. The only reason why he’s getting away with the touching, interrupting and just being flat out rude is not because he has the skills to get you to like him despite the flaws but because those around him lack the confidence he has to challenge him. Not saying he’s a horrible person but he’s still a prime example of how confidence can be a dangerous tool in the wrong hands.

      Jordan Peterson works so well because he uses bluntness plus vision. And he is speaking well for a group that doesn't have a lot of people able to speak for it in a way that doesn't upset people, he's really pretty eloquent and you can see he is not really extreme and does not come off as an enemy to others on an opposing side often. now i haven't watched his videos talking to trans people so I don't know how he comes across there. ,
      since there are not a lot of speakers right now able to do this, it is also being at the right place at the right time.

    • @DarkCyberElf
      @DarkCyberElf 4 года назад +3

      I'm the same way, someone constantly talking over me after asking me a question without allowing me to deliver the answer unimpeded is usually a conversational crime that I tend not to forget by the end of the dialogue. That, and despite not having an understandable background excuse for disliking physical contact from others (for example, being physically abused as a child or something along those lines), I usually instantly internalize physical contact during a discussion as being decidedly negative/uncomfortable.
      I think for most people, you can suss out through a conversation what sorts of things they find to be offensive or visibly uncomfortable through their micro-expressions, but physical contact is always a unique risk as you never know how the person is going to feel, and the manner in which you touch them is EXTREMELY important to whether they identify you as either a comfortable presence, or an uncomfortable one.

It's been so long since I watched it, I don't know if our video on "how to read anyone" would help but that has some similar stuff in it. It is that if you say what you think and you are genuinely honest with everything you do and you genuinely project a good intention for that person it makes you authentic and also on their side which you cant get mad at because people at the end of the day want honesty with out digging for it and they will respect that if it is put upfront.

    I think Gary is a great balance of ego and self awareness.
    He is competitive and aggressive about influencing the world and the people in it, so he can come across as an asshole cutting people off and being SO abrasive and no bullshit IF necessary. This is his natural sales ability and what he refers to when he says he could have been a sleazy salesman.
    He also tempers this with his use of touch, facial expression, humour, flattery and crucially VALUE. All these things but particularly the value he delivers make his personality pallatable to others. He not only communicates that he's your friend he SHOWS you what value he brings as a friend or it's apparent because you're on his show speaking to his hundreds of thousands and millions of followers. That makes you more likely to forgive someone when they're directly benefitting you.
    In my experience when someone is delivering apparent value to me and is critical or annoying or unfunny, they also get more leeway. How they frame it with touch, with an expression with flattery can allow you to perceive it as playful or in the case of harsh criticism even helpful.

    I love gary, he is what I would consider an amazing friend, just the way I want somebody to be to me like. I've watched him for three years and from the first moment I considered him intelligent and then I grew attracted to his personality that is so inspiring and or special.

    He's acknowledged his audience's dislike for him interrupting his guests (with whom he's friends with outside of these interviews), and has gotten better about it in the past few months. He's been doing this for a while, and learns and adapts. He has done the interview thing before, even back in the WLTV days, but doing a full on proper interview centric show is relatively new for him, so he got the feedback on his interrupting and took what he preached and adapted/improved. You gotta give him credit on that one :)

    to understand gary you really have to count the number of whiskers on his face. I myself counted his whiskers in every one of his videos, and I discovered that the number of whiskers on his face is ALWAYS a multiple of four. This is not a coincidence. The human mind is hardwired to be become more receptive and forgiving when faced with multiples of the number 4. (i am a psychology)

      Hey Terra! Deeeeefinitely need to calibrate touch based on gender, culture, religion, etc. Did you see the Chris Hemsworth breakdown "how to be popular without trying"? I did a pretty detailed stretch on touch that you might like

    • @aprylljay
      @aprylljay 5 лет назад

      I was wondering if there is some sort of alternative to the touching because as a woman I really don't think it's a good idea for me to be touching on men too much. And really women either ... I don't think most people really like to be touched by people they don't know well.

Also, very nice touch showing the RUclips comment that endorsed Gary while you made the point that people like his bluntness, great synchronicity.

    You should do a video on MBTI personality types and how each have a different way of being charismatic. I think Gary is ENTJ personality type, which perfectly explains his style. It can help people pick the style that is bet suited to their own personality.

    Maybe he’s a sociopath? Doesn’t care if he offends people, ‘I apologize’ is a mere phrase to him that doesn’t mean anything. He’s just a skillful communicator and he just does his own race without regard for anything other than his own utility. I respect that.

    • @AdamTopCommenter
      @AdamTopCommenter 6 лет назад +3

      He often says he doesn't get why people have certain emotional hang-ups or have emotional problems from a rough upbringing or a traumatic past, which could point to narcissistic/sociopathic tendencies i.e. a lack of empathy. The dude brags about how easy it is for him to get whatever he wants and do whatever he wants all the time. Boy does he love to tell you what he is "a big fan of". It's the world according to Gary and nothing else.

    Very interesting to see how Gary Vee invokes "fury" in his conversation partners, which doesn't even backfire, but adds tremendously to his unique charm. In "How The Rock Went From Flop To Superstar" you mention how The Rock invokes strong emotions in his audience, which captivates them. What Gary Vee does seems quite similar... although the emotions differ.

    You know how you connect with someone only because you like the same folks? To me that folk is Gary. If you like him we will probably get along, but if you don't get him, I know that we see the world in a completely different way. And that's ok. It just saves time! That being said, he puts out so much content that if you want to get him you should definitely watch more of him. 10 minutes is just not enough. Great video though! Good job :)
