Imagine if Steve Kerr, Phil Jackson, Doc Rivers or Greg Popovich had coached this team... Coach K. might be a good coach, but I don't believe he could coach an NBA contender to a title. In order to this, I think this team underperformed regarding it's impressive roster. From today's perspective Tyson Chandler might be the worst player, BUT he was the NBA's defensive player of the year in 2012. And the bench was prime D-Will + young Russ + young beard + prime Melo + young AD + prime K-Love and prime Iggy. And, of course, 4 all time greats in the starting 5 with Kobe, LeBron, CP3 and KD. This roster has been amazing. And it would be a great matchup to see Team USA 2012 vs. Team USA 1992.

I'm not actually that surprised it was this close, Spain are probably the next best basketball nation and they play together in competitions a lot. Even a monster NBA line-up can't take a tight unit like that lightly.
Yeah, funny everybody in the comments is praising USA, but not so many comments acknowledging how TIGHT the final result was for a all-star NBA team to play against Spain. Which, believe me, we are known for Soccer, not really Basketball.... so this loss against USA was pretty amazing in my opinion
All the European teams have chemistry…practice and play together throughout every year. USA slaps a team together every 2 years and plays pick up basically and wins. Imagine if they got to build the same team over and over and practice together.
Spain is second FIBA rankings, but the talent pool is much deeper in the US. Losing to the USA 107-100 in basketball is pretty much as close as any country will get in basketball in a while.
@@kerfee7776 bruh? Navarro, Rubio, Rodriguez, Fernandez, Gasol brothers, Ibaka, Claver... except Sergio Llull ( who was drafted and purchased by rockets for a million, he refused to play in Nba a long time ago and stay in Real Madrid so even him can be considered an Nba player level)

Without a doubt we are talking about a great show
bob saget Warriors losing to NBA teams is not the same thing as a USA dream team losing to countries who are amateurs with amateur players on it when the American teams were having a bad stretch losing to those countries in these big tournaments and Olympic games back then it was pretty bad look for the NBA at the time,,, NO EXCUSES NBA players have to win GOLD there is no other way, so far they've wont the last 3 gold medals but we have to keep it up
Americans treat this as some sort of one of a time experience. Its funny how the 2002 World Championship in Indianapolis suddenly dropped out from collective memory despite being actually the first tournament where an US NBA team lost. The NBA stars were humbled by the same Argentina team before so this was their second loss to Argentina in just 2 years. IN that WC tournament USA was beaten in the quarterfinals by Yugoslavia to make matters worse - they didnt even get a medal on a tournament held on US soil. after this defeat n 2004 - US NBA player team went on to lose once more in 2006 to Greece. This was the time when NBA stopped being a circus where individuals were showcasing their awesome skills resembling the Harlem Globetrotters and learned a lesson that basketball is a team sport and it is a serious competition and terms like "posterizing" suddenly became not so cool. No wonder US now plays European style of basketball where shooters and smart players dominate - not genetic anomalies like Shaq tho forced their way in order to score. The era of Shaq was the most boring NBA has ever been. Shaq had zero finesse and actually totally was the antithesis of what basketball should really be about. No wonder playing that style of basketball doesnt work. Another very great thing that happened is players started to pay more attention to what their coaches were saying. Before 2004 NBA players were so arrogant to the point where you have a video of AI talking about practice - totally ego running loose . Respect to coaching authority was zero percent. Even one Phil jackson was being mocked by Shaquille in public. At the end teamplay always beats individuality. Always. Even with weaker players - colectivity is superior.
Wherever you are, you're still a legend. Rest in peace, Kobe 😪

As a Spaniard, this match made me feel so proud of the whole Squad. They fight until the end with great teamwork and the USA Team recognized that. That's why I love basketball and the way we play to this sport. Nobody expect us, but we keep on top 😏🇪🇸
They lost. Only played easy to entertain the fan. You should be ashamed facts.

The best competitive championship for Olympics 2012. Mamba proved when closing his the best. Bean!! ❤❤❤
he called Russell Westbrook a “quick little guard” 😂
lmao
He think Russel is a noob
AHA LOL
He thought Westbrook is a racing horse, because whenever Westbrook had the ball he drives from court to court, ignoring his team mates, it's because a racing horse have this cover in the eye that can only see one direction.
Yeah they forgot to mention he's excellent at getting bounced in round 1
2:01:10 Kobe was nursing his nose which got hit a few seconds before and Lebron notices and goes to make sure his brother is okay
“Carmelo Anthony with a rare assist” 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Kudos to the US team coach who could build a powerhouse team with that chemistry and all that talent, granted he also won gold in 2008 before with similar starters
Much admiration for this person and great athlete, KOBE BRYANT. We all miss you my brother. A true person indeed!
19:10 Kobe Bryant is flat-out ridiculous! Multiple jabsteps leading into a jumpshot over a 7-footer from the deep corner, and it all seems normal like no-one was even that surprised... Everyone treated it like he only made a wide-open layup. I've never seen that from any other player especially from someone of Kobe's size. I don't know why people are always so disrespectful to Kobe's legacy. While he isn't the "greatest", he is easily the most "skilled" basketball player of all time.
That's true! 😢
Ughhh hate to break it to you. There's a guy who had the best mid range game ever and the most skilled aswell, his name is Michael Jordan.
@@Flyhr Jordan was more athletic and more physically gifted than Kobe, Jordan was heavier and could out jump defenders in the midrange which was why Jordan was so good and better than Kobe in the midrange in that regard. Kobe had to rely much more on his technical skills like angles and footwork to score instead of Godly athleticism. Jordan never had Kobe's 3pt range.
@@JC-rv6lo You are a dumbass, Jordan was light and skinny and had a 48 inch vertical you dumbass, and Kobe was a master at bricks bruh, has the most bricks ever in history, he always scored 20+ because he ball hogged and chunked up lots of shots, Kobe copied Jordans fade-away too, bruh go back to watching Dragon Ball super man, and how can you be *heavier* and out jump someone? @@oof3479 “How can you be heavier and out jump someone” Yes because there’s never been a heavy player with a high vert 🤦♂️

Yes this was super close
it goes the other way around..the usa is surprisingly weak...AGAIN..
@@andreaspapadakis2602 That's what happens when you only have big egos on your team, some will avoid the passing the ball in order a point attributed to them.
I think Spain from 2008 is stronger. In 2012 they are the same players but all aged, while U.S. has a new generation of stars entering prime.

Spain, France and Great Britain finished highly ranked. Imagine if that were one country. Respect some amazing European athletes.
Great Britain ????

@@AlexGarcia-en7mx tonto
And basketball isn’t even the 1# sport in that countries
I'm not actually that surprised it was this close, Spain are probably the next best basketball nation and they play together in competitions a lot. Even a monster NBA line-up can't take a tight unit like that lightly.
I mean they had the Gasols, Ibaka and Rudy so it makes sense why they're so strong
@@Q.Wallace That's not really true, spain has its own basketball league and they only play as a nation a few times just like US does
Spain is second FIBA rankings, but the talent pool is much deeper in the US. Losing to the USA 107-100 in basketball is pretty much as close as any country will get in basketball in a while.

Just saw this and I was giggling because while Team USA was celebrating the win, Kobe was walking around at the back, shaking the hands and hugging the players from Spain 😂
Those players from Spain play in nba
Spain may have lost but they play a game that is worthy of an NBA team despite not all of them are NBA players.
Literally all of the spanish team were Nba players or have been played in Nba sometime.

For me this is one of the greatest games in the history of basketball. the American team was incredible with kobe bryant, lebron james, kevin durat, chris paul. some of the best players ever. a gean merit of Spain to compete this game. with the Gasol brothers, Navarro, Rudy Fernández, Calderon. Without a doubt we are talking about a great show
"and the defense went asleep on that play",your voice is making me fall asleep geez
besides, the defense at 1:59:35 is not even lazy...lebron faked a screen and spain didn't switch correctly. it's not even lazy defense.
who else watching this in 2021? just to see how crazy this team was even with a 19 year old Davis!!!! like this team is an absolute force
And they will be again in 2022
Spain did really good against Usa
But usa is very strong but we played well
Yea
It was NBA Vs Spain
bob saget Warriors losing to NBA teams is not the same thing as a USA dream team losing to countries who are amateurs with amateur players on it when the American teams were having a bad stretch losing to those countries in these big tournaments and Olympic games back then it was pretty bad look for the NBA at the time,,, NO EXCUSES NBA players have to win GOLD there is no other way, so far they've wont the last 3 gold medals but we have to keep it up
Americans treat this as some sort of one of a time experience.
The 2012 nba finals MVP who became the goat four years later saved the day for team USA
