Spain was very good, had multiple nba stars on the teams, but this game was very poorly officiated in favor of Spain, bunch of calls and no calls, favoring spain, this game shouldn't have been close, US beat them earlier in the tournament by almost 40, poor officials kept spain close in this one

Being a lil' spanish teen as I was in 2008, and even though deep down I knew that US team was unbeatable, I really did feel like Spain could have won the match. Got dam what a game. Never seen the game played so hard. It was a war, bodies all over the floor. Spain put up an epic fight but D wade in the first half and Kobe in the final minutes were so clutch. Will never forget this game. Me my dad and my sister had this on the TV before we had to head to church on Sunday morning. Just remember Kobe taking over in the 4th quarter and wouldnt let the US team lose. Kobe has since passed away and my dad passed away in 2020 also but its a moment ill always remember with fondness.

The crowd was really amazing when the Spain cut the US lead to 2 points , and most of them are the Chinese and they just cheer for any great plays from both teams. Just simply an evidence to show sport could unite people together.
I was huge CP3 fan from Louisiana then. I remember waking up with my family and watching this live at like 2 or 3AM. That 4th quarter was crazy. And I loved how even tho I didn’t really like Kobe or Lebron at that time, because it was the olympics I was pulling for everyone.

Spain was a really interesting and deep team. And it’s cool to watch a kid Rubio, he was confident/arrogant with that almost bored look in his eyes, playing most of the game not really scoring but setting up Spain’s entire offense and not turning the ball over. Which is overlooked because USA was insane pressure D and would get a lot of steals and transition buckets against other teams. Rubio kept the Spain team under control and kept the pace so that they could get into their sets. Sorry that was a tangent but this game is fascinating in so many ways
Why is nobody talking Jason Kidd? He produces so much in the game play and his passing is extremely accurate and fun to watch. This was years ago but I don’t see him getting any coverage for his talent and hard work.

The team they have now is filled with iso players, players that aren't gonna win a ring because they're style over substance (Dame, Tatum, Lavine, Beal)...I thought 2016 was like this but they had Deandre Jordan and Klay Thompson and Jimmy Butler to balance things out (having Lowry, PG and Derozan instead of playmaking depth was such a terrible idea at the time for me, but it worked out somehow, maybe it was Coach K)

Spain was a really interesting and deep team. And it’s cool to watch a kid Rubio, he was confident/arrogant with that almost bored look in his eyes, playing most of the game not really scoring but setting up Spain’s entire offense and not turning the ball over. Which is overlooked because USA was insane pressure D and would get a lot of steals and transition buckets against other teams. Rubio kept the Spain team under control and kept the pace so that they could get into their sets. Sorry that was a tangent but this game is fascinating in so many ways
Why is nobody talking Jason Kidd? He produces so much in the game play and his passing is extremely accurate and fun to watch. This was years ago but I don’t see him getting any coverage for his talent and hard work.
