The USA take on Australia in the quarterfinal of the men's basketball tournament at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
This clip features a full reply of the game that took place at the North Greenwich Arena (9 August).
Basketball made its appearance at the Olympic Games in 1904 in St Louis as a demonstration sport, as the competition was held between only American teams and counted as an event of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU of the USA) Championships.
At the Games in 1936 in Berlin, basketball joined the Olympic programme, where it has remained to this day. Women's basketball debuted at the 1976 Games in Montreal.

With monsters like Lebron and Kobe on the team, not to mention the rest, it would be an embarrassment for the U.S. not to get a score like that. Australia did extremely well despite the massive skill difference between the two (despite the U.S. not playing much defense), still, a commendable effort.

Actually in the last FIFA World Cup,the USA came in 23rd place overall. Now even though it's not even in the top 10,it's still pretty good considering the fact that there were 208 countries in the World Cup.Even though it's 23rd place,it's still WAYYYYYYYYYY better than what Australia came in.Australia came in 94th place! So if you say that the US sucks at soccer, what does that say about Australia?Do some research before you make claims like so.(As for rugby and cricket,I'm gonna have to agree that we suck at those, cricket and rugby aren't popular in the US)

    - 4 Finals mvp
    - 6 All-star mvp
    - 6 scoring champions
    - 4 assist leaders
    - 1 rebound leader
    - 1 steal leader
    - 1 DPOY
    - 1 sixth man of the year
    - 3 rookie of the year
    - 7 first team all NBA, 3 second team all NBA, 1 third team all NBA (11/12)
    - 12/12 all-stars
    - 17 nba championships
This is literally 20 years of NBA history on a team. I think the only teams that matches this level is the 2008 and the 1992 team.

***** 6 months late but I have to agree, and I'm not even one of those the modern NBA will never be as good as the classics type. I'm willing to admit somebody like Lebron could be the greatest of all time.
But the Dream Team is the greatest and would be hard to surpass. Two reasons for this being that the Olympics happened in a year right between the passing of torches of two generations of basketball. The older being that of Bird and Magic, the younger being Jordan, Barkley, Ewing. Not only that, but the mentioned older generation came off a long reign and quickly into a newer one, making the veterans not so old.
Also, the dream team had a strong 1-5. The 4 and 5 has been weak compared to the guard heavy play in the past 10 years.
I'm not saying they won't be surpassed, but I can probably say the theoretical team will not contain a Lebron James, as he seems to be a part of a "long reign generation."

That American commentator said Carmelo was 203 lbs, when u can look at Melo and tell he's closer to 230. I forgave that, but he said Deron Williams was mostly known as a defensive player for most of his career, and has come on offensively in the last few years, lol comedy.

Australia MEN (though having produced some good players) dont stack up with the Americans, however the Aussie women have been the best team in the world aside from the USA for about a decade. This distinction does need to be made if you say "Austraila isnt a good basketball country/isnt good at it".

  • @lolaroflmao
    @lolaroflmao 8 лет назад +12

    some of these matchups man...
    CP3 v Mills
    Kobe v young Deli
    KD v Jingles
    LBJ v spud Anderson
The Aussies have improved a lot since then and will have their strongest team ever at the 2016 Rio Olympics. No Ben SImmons or Exum but fingers crossed Bogut can play every game at Rio.
Still expect USA to take gold but the rest of the world have improved a lot.

It's not like the NBA is for americans only. Have you seen how many foreign players there are in the NBA? For example, number 9 on Australia is the backup point guard for Kyrie Irving for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Great players like Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Ricky Rubio, Serge Ibaka, Luis Scola, Andrew Bogut, Kyrie Irving, Steve Nash, etc... 92 foreign players in the NBA from anywhere from Spain to the Congo. There are hall of famers, all stars, champions from foreign country. There is nothing wrong with talking about a league with 92 international players during a tournament of international teams.
