That's a great point and is very important! I've mentioned this in videos about pricing. You have to be firm and confident in your pricing. If the price is too high, we can alter the size and / or detail to get the price down!
Thank you so much for these videos regarding pricing! And that flapper cake? Gurl, you ate that and left no crumbs! (aka you did an exceedingly impressive and great job!) 👏👏👏
I love all your videos. Sadly this is the first one i have watched since November. My husband would always help with the cakes i made, he passed in December. Haven't made or decorated cake since. Im fixing to sell the house and was discussing with a friend about restarting my cake biz. I want to get the printer and sprayer for cakes, i know you've talked about them in past videos. But have you learned any new information on the edible images printer or the edible paint sprayer for cakes that is the better value or works best, longer life time? And do you have videos on how to clean and maintain either of them? I currently live in a rural area but thinking about moving closer to the bigger cities and branching out. I feel these would get me a leg up. Also, have you tried that thing that spins your cake and makes perfectly smooth sides/top with crisp clean edges, while you just pipe on the frosting? Is that thing worth the mone/investment?
She has two videos on printer cleaning I’ve watched over and over as the company who sold me my edible image printer also sold me supper old ink that clogged like crazy. After getting zero customer service support from the edible printer company I went on Amazon for edible ink and haven’t had a clog since. Thanks to Karolyn’s videos I’m really good at cleaning out my printer head 💕
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband! I can't imagine what you're going through. I'm sure it's really tough. Sending my love! I've heard people rave about the tank printers, which don't have removable cartridges. If my printer ever breaks, I will replace it with one of them. I do clean the print head a lot as the magenta seems to clog more than any other color. I don't have a video yet about cleaning / maintaining the airbrush. I'll try to film that soon!
When you say two layer, how thick are your layers? About how thick is your icing? I feel like your cakes are so much taller than mine even though they are the same number of layers.
Thank you soooo much for pricing videos! Soooo many bakers selling cakes at a loss and don’t even know it. Your video is needed 💕

@@KarolynsKakes awesome thank you.
And thanks. Loosing him, I lost my desire to decorate or bake. I wish I could find what I once had. And soon!
I was surprised to see an Alabama cake! Aren’t you in New York?
I'm in Philly! But my customer's daughter went to that school 🙂
Is there a price difference when you torte a cake vs adding layers?
Torting doesn't change the price. It's more about the look (height of the tier) and number of servings!
When you say two layer, how thick are your layers? About how thick is your icing? I feel like your cakes are so much taller than mine even though they are the same number of layers.
I bake in 2" high pans.
My tiers are approx. 4.5 - 5" tall!
Thank you. @@KarolynsKakes
How do you decide when to torte a cake or not to torte?
I explain in this video!

Hi Karolyn, when do you tort and not tort your cakes.
Here's a video where I explain:

Where are you located?
I am just outside of Philly.
