Displays and buttons can be easily addressed, clutches are going to be a frequent repair on the DuoSelect/F1 models, be wary of the cam variator issues, make sure you’re doing low mileage maintenance - don’t wait for intervals, and generally treat them well. They’re from a peculiar time at Maserati, there are going to be problems, but I promise they’ll be an excellent driving experience, just know what you’re buying.
If you’re buying these for the $20,000 to $30,000 average, just know you’re still paying to maintain a $100,000 to almost $200,000 car. It’s surprisingly straightforward to do general maintenance, but don’t treat it like another $20,000 car, or even like a newer Maserati. You have to be proactive.
Aside from the fact that people judge and critique your when driving these, if you can get past the ignorance and mockery, you’ll have a great driver, a comfortable cruiser, and a symphony of angels under the hood and out the exhaust.

Love these. Like the newer ones too, but this is prettier. Arguable the prettiest generation since the first. Would want the stick if possible though.

Up to 2007 cars had a horrendous gearbox. Post 08, Maserati switched to a torque converter ZF Automatic that worked far better.

Beautiful vehicle but the service record you speak of is probably as thick as a NYC phone book.

Money pit on wheels! Great car for anyone with a money tree in the garden. I had one that cost me £3k to renew the brakes!

It varies greatly. Pre-refresh models, namely the DuoSelect models, are really something. They can be a lot to handle for some. Following the first refresh, they sorted most of the mechanical issues, and the final refresh really sorted out the quirks with the electronics. 2009 to 2012 is really the ideal MY’s to own.
The 2008 QP I drove was really quite robust, until the repair bill came for the cam variators. And that is really the biggest thing to watch for in _all_ Tipo M139s.

Any exotic is going to be expensive, an extended warranty would be advisable. I owned a Quattroporte in the late 80's, my problem was incompetent repair shops at the time!

I want one of these 05-12 … I love every angle of them from the front , side and to the rear! Definitely in the silver like this …Maseratis have become so mainstream today …this is the last sedan that actually is solid and looks like luxury and is so exclusive in comparison to these new horrible mass produced cheap ones …that midsize one that starts with a G is so pathetic and the new suv looks so repulsive and so uncalled for …this generation is absolutely gorgeous!

Beautiful car, of course do not buy unless you are mechanically inclined and want a project, but you really got to get Quattroporte says that came with the ZF transmission that 6 Speed ZF is very reliable, the car will still have issues no doubt but the major problem with the early Quattroporte was the stupid F1 transmission

Don’t the red cam covers indicate one of the rare a 4.7l engines? Mine is the more common 4.2 and has blue cam covers.
I would predict this model (2007 onwards with ZF gearbox) will become a sought after classic.

38k miles and it's already a piece of shit. The LCD is shot, many buttons surrounding the steering wheel are worn off, radio/navi won't work, unknown clutch status, worn "fliperdy-flops," and who knows what else. It's an Italian car, not exactly known for quality... To quote my dad: "if you really hate someone, advice him to buy a British or Italian car." 🤣 I agree with Bill though, the engine sounds ab-so-lute-ly awesome.
