I saw them in concert a few days ago and they are still killing it! Back in the day, this was known as Hair Metal (Sometimes Glam Metal, but that was typically not as hard as this) Power Metal came along later
Striper one of the most underrated rock bands in history with positive vibes came out during the time of a lot of bands were out parting and womanizing and guess what their still around
When this album came out, some would categorize it as hair/glam metal. A large part of the Christian music community condemned Stryper's music, stage shows & especially, their costumes. Seems that most people couldn't get past the costumes & make-up. One of their loudest & highest profile critics was Jimmy Swaggart. What i found out, early on, was pastor Raul Ries of Calvary Chapel was one of the bands Biggest supporters. Am not sure but I think Michael & Co. were members of Calvary Chapel. At the end of their shows, the band would toss Gideon Bibles(?) into the crowd
Good review! Now that I'm finally done with finals I have the time to leave a comment lol. I definitely like how straightforward the lyrics are as well. A lot of Christian bands have kinda vague lyrics that could be interpreted in many different ways, but Stryper is often pretty bold/blunt. It is very interesting that heavy music specifically gets attacked. I mean, a lot of pop music does not have better messages lol. Wait, I just realized this wasn't posted on a Monday... how dare you call this an episode of Metal Mondays?!?!?!?!?!?
AHAHAHAAAA as a film student I can flex on you the fact that I don't have finals heheheheee (not that you asked but you gotta flex where you can flex because flexing is meant to be flexed) Yeah, I totally agree that the message in pop music is not better in any way. I used to find it so annoying when my friends and family used to say I listen to demonic music while the music they deem "okay" is mostly about lust of the flesh (granted, not all pop music lol. There's actually some pop music that I like and actually have a good message). Anyway, this actually made me lowkey kinda sad that I've never had friends who share the same music taste loooll and I'm also never the friend who chooses the music bc I know some ppl will hate it. But I guess that's what makes me more grateful for this channel. I can talk about metal as much as I want and HA y'all can't do anything about it because it's my channel hehehehe Don't worry I'm not actually this mad 💀😂😂 HOW DARE YOU SAY IT WASN'T POSTED ON A MONDAY??????????? I CREATED MONDAY, MONDAY IS WHENEVER I SAY IT IS!!!! The audacity 🙄🙄🙄🙄 No it's actually bc sometimes stuff comes up and I can't film a video in time for Monday (I literally just missed another Monday bc I've been sick 💀💀💀💀currently coughing as I'm typing this) so in the meantime I'll just film and post whenever I want I guess 😂😂😂
Stryper when they came out were so much heavier musically than most of the other 80s metal bands. As far as the music goes they were far superior IMO regardless of the lyrics.
This was a great reaction! You've earned a sub. God bless! :) BTW AT 15:40 you said you were done cause your reactions go on too long, then you actually end the video almost 10 minutes later! LOL I'm right there with you, that's me on the phone. :)
I just came upon your channel! Great reaction. I love your singing, And I love how you being so young, love Stryper! I take it that you are a Christian! If so GREAT! So many Stryper songs to react to! New Sub by the way! Keep it up Girl!
It's very Iron Maidenesque. Iron Maiden clearly influenced their style & even their sound quite a bit. These guys are still going & in better shape than any band from their era. Their newer stuff is heavier & just as good as their early music.
This band isn't a Metal band or a power metal band .Even Michael Sweet said himself in an old interview .when a lady asked him why heavy metal music to convey ur message. An Michael said we are not a Heavy mEtal band he said we are just a Rock (Hard Rock) band .they do have songs that are fast paced just like Van Halen does an even Bon JoVi had heavier tubes an faster songs .Metal has heavier guitar parts an heavier drums an faster tempos than this
Great track from a great band. Have you heard of Veni Domine or Sacred Warrior? They're both old school Christian metal bands. A little heavier but they have some solid bangers. Masters Command by Sacred Warrior is a bop and Armageddon by Veni Domine is really cool. A bit long but very technically impressive.
This came out in 1985. I was 14. It made the church folks mad. They said this was evil music.
haha I'm sure they did
Oh ya I remember those days. Fighting with my older family over it. 😂😂
It was a wonderful review. I love how you told people the powerful lyrics of Stryper.
Thank you so much!
Not only the powerful lyrics of Stryper, but the powerful words of God, I hope!

@@BudakKuchingBah They're new album The Final Battle came out last month. It's killer!
You are not ruining, it’s nice to see you get into the song and sing along 🥰
Glad you enjoyed!!
I would say "power metal" as a genre came some years after this album came out
amen praise the Lord
