@@johnboswell6830 The song "Sorry" from the same album is pretty good too. Michael Sweet, the singer, has a couple of albums with George Lynch from Dokken, as well.
I seen them live in the 80s, they handed out yellow and black Bibles to the crowd and read scripture in between songs. They are still rocking, making new music like, More than a Màn.
Lead guitarist Oz had an operation a while back to remove a brain tumour and unfortunately the tumour has returned so he will be needing another operation. Please keep Oz in your prayers 🙏
Stryper got their name "by his stripes we are healed". After 40 years they are still rocking for God and with a new album being released this year. God bless y'all and take care
I personally think they are even better NOW than in their heyday back in the 80's - Michael's voice and their drive is even more fierce now, check out Yahweh !!!
Cant even tell you how many testimonies I’ve read and heard about from people who were lead to the lord by Stryper. One that comes to my mind right now was some guys who were talking about being big ‘powder’ addicts back in the 80s and would go party on the LA strip seeing these types of bands. One night they were doing their usual lines of powder and partying…Stryper hit the stage and they felt convicted to throw their bag of stuff into the garbage can. To quit it on the spot and turn to the lord. They relayed that night was the one their lives changed and they became Christian’s for life. Stryper delivering His message was pivotal in that moment. Taking the message to those who would never think about stepping foot into a church but need to hear the Word. Make no mistake about it, there’s power in the name of Jesus Christ!
They are still recording and touring even heavier now. Oz Fox the other guitar player with big black hair recently (5/15/24) had a second surgery for brain tumor. He came through perfectly because of prayers
Stryper is a great band. I had the privilege to work with Michael Sweet, the vocalist. He produced my old band’s record. Super nice guy and is the real deal!!
They are still going strong and have a new album coming out later this year. They have so many good songs. For some of thier newer songs, I'd suggest "Yahweh", "Do Unto Others", "Make Love Great Again". There's also a great lyric video for "Blood From Above" that has an amazing message.
Stryper is currently fixing to embark on their 40th Anniversary tour. While I am still and always be captivated by the 80's metal sound, Stryper continues to soldier on. They have been on streak of stellar albums starting with 2013 No More Hell To Pay. If you wish to see the Kingdom the continue to be edified and lifted up, there are soooooo many bands bringing Jesus to those who not necessarily seek. All this began with Larry Norman with his song "Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music", followed with Petra and several other bands which the Jesus Movement in the 70's. Then along came Stryper who pioneered the 80's Christian Metal scene from California thus opening the doors an explosion of bands like you are listening to.... Barren Cross, Whitecross, Bloodgood, etc.... I can continue to go on this "history lesson" of all this but I think you get the point. This world is so lost and needs Jesus so desperately in their lives.
I have been collecting Christian metal of all types since 1987. My mp3 is 73 gb and over 13k worth of songs. I still have about 600 cassettes How I got started is the beginning of a love story of my wife and I
This was one of my favorite bands in the 80's. I grew up playing drums on the Sunset Strip from 82-89 as a 12-19 year old. I saw a lot and must say that I definitely fell victim to the abundance of temptation that such a lifestyle offered. I met all of the members of Stryper multiple times and played on several shows with them. They definitely practiced what they preached. While all the rest of the bands on the show were going to afterpartys and being wild, they quietly packed up and went home. I even went with them a couple of times to their church in Riverside as they liked to invite people to come hear the services on Sunday. I wasn't ready to fully embrace what God offered at the time, but it was thought provoking. They even used to hand out bibles at their shows. A couple of the members have since passed away. The brothers, Michael Sweet on guitar/vocals and Robert Sweet on drums, are still around and they occasionally release new music. Sometimes as Stryper, sometimes as solo acts. Their biggest hit came off their 2nd album...it's the title track To Hell With The Devil. This was the title track to their 1st album Soldiers Under Command. They also had an EP that people call the Yellow And Black Attack. They had more albums but those 3 really stuck with me even after all these years. Their song "First Love" off of the Soldiers Album is a personal favorite. I still break out their songs and play them on the drums as I just really enjoy them.
Ain't nobody from Stryper passed away! It's still Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet, and Oz Fox, and they had issues with Tim Gaines so he was fired and got replaced by Perry Richardson from FireHouse.
@dustynhawkeye6838 Fortunately, reports of their demise have been greatly exaggerated. The closest anyone in Stryper came to dying was Michael required a few surgeries for a detached retina, and Oz had a couple surgeries to remove tumors from his brain. And now recently Michael had surgery to remove Thyroid Cancer.
Always There For You is like a love letter from our Savior 🥰 They named their band Stryper bc of the scripture in Isaiah that says By His Stripes We Are Healed ✝️ I Believe In You and Calling On You are a couple other of my faves
They are either in the process of, or just finished mixing their latest album (not sure when it will be released). I see tons of good suggestions in the other comments - I will throw out one that is a little deeper cut, but it perfectly fits the theme of this song: "Marching Into Battle" - epic song!
They are getting ready to release another album. A beautiful ballad by Stryper is “Honestly”. That song put them over the top and made them big. Lead Singer, Songwriter, lead guitarist, and pianist, Michael Sweet, doesn’t put “Honestly” in their top 20 Stryper songs as he likes their harder songs the best but he does know that he owes a lot to the fame and fortune that “Honestly” brought them. “Honestly” - Stryper ruclips.net/video/vyrU2YX7dK0/видео.htmlsi=mfVXgTUFXNYmFHcY

You should react to the interview on a talk show back in the 80s with a preacher speaking against what they were doing and at the end the preacher is contemplating on going to one of their concerts
Still touring, with kickass albums, and this same astounding sound and message. I have been a fan since 1986, and Stryper says they're not a Christian Rock band. They are, "Four guys just spreading a message about the love of our Lord, Jesus Christ." They are just so humble, doing God's work, they charge $7.77 for their SpiritHouse tickets.
Interesting point. There was a time when Slayer (death metal thrash band) and Stryper were going to go on tour. It was going to be called "Heaven and Hell" tour. Both bands agreed to do it but, i forget the reason, the tour fell through.
It might surprise you to hear a particular Paul McCartney song from the 80s called Motor of Love. Even though he is one of the former Beatles, he has struggled to try to have faith in GOD, and this particular song tells a lot about his heart's attitude.
I went to a Stryper concert back in 86 they truly rock and tried spreading the good word , they gave out a bunch of bibles . Though the girls in the crowd where throwing their undies on the stage and the band member would try to ignore it . Crazy times
Funny truth. I went to church camp in '86 and before we went we were told not to bring any music that wasn't considered "Christian Music". Being the defiant metalhead at the time I brought the cassette tape of Stryper's "Soldier's Under Command". They weren't happy with me because they knew the lyrics of the music kept them from stopping me from playing it. It was great.
New listener and subscriber. This is my fave band of all time. I saw them in concert back in 1989. They are still making new music every couple years... Listen to Transgressor next for the most modern stuff.
Isaiah 53:5 states, "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed".
I went to 2 of their concerts when I was in high school here in Oregon. The first Stryper concert was the Soldiers Under Command Tour. Bloodgood opened for them. The second Stryper concert was the To Hell With The Devil Tour. The band Mistrust opened for them that year and were absolutely horrible, yuck! Stryper was always awesome! Funny thing is, I had short hair. I looked nothing like a rocker at all but, I loved Stryper, Bloodgood, Barren Cross, Whitecross and many other Christian metal bands! Eventually in 1987, I did grow some long hair since I'm a drummer but cut it all off July 2001 and kept it short ever since then, lol.
FYI - the Christian artist For King + Country just collaborated with Lecrae on a song that's a nod to Stryper's classic song, "To Hell With The Devil". It's very different than the original, but is cool that they paid respect to one of the pioneers of Christian music that made a huge impact in the secular market. I think you'd really enjoy the song - ruclips.net/video/izdvVVVW8Ms/видео.html . Please do more original Stryper songs as well! I'd recommend a more recent song to hear how they sound now - "Do Unto Others" - ruclips.net/video/54JVuMtLVHE/видео.html

You guys are misinformed! I am a born again Christian as well and there is no such thing as 'devil' music! Music is music no matter what the subject matter it, music is subjective! There are a lot of metal bands that seem to be satanic but if you listen to their lyrics most of them are singing against the devil and evil things! Yes there are black metal and other genres of metal who claim to be satanists, but to each their own, they want to preach and practise that way of life, all the best to ya! And the comment about the 'devil horns' using the fingers, that is actually called the Maloik and is used to ward off evil!
Thanks so much for reacting to Stryper! Loved your reactions and a new subscriber. This band could put any 80’s hair metal band to shame and had the guts to sing about Christian themes when everyone else was singing about sex, drugs and rock-roll. I think this song has one of the best duel guitar solos in the 80’s! Not only is Michael Sweet an incredible singer he plays guitar just as good with his brother Robert Sweet on the drums. I saw them live twice they wouid throw small Bibles out to the audience. Next song to listen to is To Hell with the Devil!
I know you (and every other podcaster who does that) think the left / right voice mix is cool, but it’s annoying. Makes all your listeners think their headphones are broken. Don’t do it.
There's still touring. They came out with their 14th album in 2022. I got to see them live back in the 80s in Bismarck North Dakota. I got a solo album of the lead singer to Michael Sweet. Any did the album with Dawkins lead guitarist George Lynch.. it's called sweet Lynch it is so good
Stryper is a rabbit hole i recommend going down.

Stryper still going to this day !!! Thanx for covering them and Michael Sweet is a great vocalists ❤ but great songs 🎵
Stryper - The Valley. More recent and a great tune.
Man I heard that last week for the first time WOW It’s a banger

Any did the album with Dawkins lead guitarist George Lynch.. it's called sweet Lynch it is so good
Yeah these guys will be your end! Sorry...
