2022 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees Judas Priest returned to Oklahoma City on Sunday, November 20 for a performance at the Paycom Center. Prior to the band launching into their 1978 classic, “The Green Manalishi (With The Two Pronged Crown),” something in the crowd caught lead singer Rob Halford’s eye and he briefly stopped the performance to investigate.
A seven-year old girl named Laraya Brown along with her father Dean were sitting front-row center and Rob appeared to be awestruck at the pair. He spoke directly to the little girl “in about ten years, you could be standing on this stage. I’ve got to pass the baton off some time; and maybe to someone like you.” Rob then asked if this was their first time seeing Priest together, it was. Halford declared, “That’s beautiful, thank you so much,” and added, “that’s a Sunday night Heavy Metal Blessing right there.”
However, the fun didn’t end there, later during their bows, all five current members of Judas Priest each went out of their way to shower the seven-year old in guitar picks, drumsticks, and even with a signed guitar pick guard. Long time drummer Scott Travis even got down on his stomach to personally deliver his drumstick to the excited fan.
Laraya’s father loves teaching his children about heavy metal/hard rock and has taken her to several concerts all over Oklahoma.
Judas Priest, have only a handful of U.S. dates left on their 50th Anniversary tour, with the final night slated for Houston’s historic Music Hall on November 29.
Protect and defend Rob Halford at all costs. They don't make many like him. We should all learn from his class.

It's impossible not to like that man, it's one thing to be one one of the greatest showmen/lead singers/ songwriters the world has ever known...But it's even better when that person also happens to be a great person...And Rob Halford is certainly that...

Most cool! I meet Rob and Glenn at a hotel after they played in Mannheim Germany back in 81'. Both were really good guys and Glenn showed me how to play the intro for Delivering the goods! I will always be a fan!

Halford sees children and young fans as the next generation of heavy metal and without them, there is no heavy metal. What a class act, Halford has always been a good hearted person. Great on dad for taking the young one to a Judas Priest concert, as well!
Did that with me when they appeared on the UK TV show The Tube. Saw me holding a record ( 7" white label copy of Freewheel Burning which I later got signed by Priest) and before they went on air was asking me if that was the new single (FWB had just come out) and did I go to the gig the previous night, to which I replied I did and then asked me what I thought. When he introduces FWB, he points up to me. What a night, 3 songs aired on TV while they did another 2 after 7pm when the show finished
I learned rythem guitar playing along with these songs and was in 4 bands from '86-'01. I remember sitting through a dozen crappy videos on Mtv hoping they'd come on.

That was a great concert. Took my daughter to it too. Her very first concert and my first time seeing Judas Priest. Rob talked to the audience for about five minutes before pointing out the father and daughter.

Rob has been through a lot more than anyone knows… how nice to see that he is a genuinely humble man, and a complete sweetie!
That's was really nice of them. One thing that always warms my heart is when a band takes time to acknowledge the young fans, especially kids. The torch has been passed, and the future generations must carry it. That kid's gonna be a Judas Priest fan for life, now, and that's a good thing. Blessing upon Rob Halford, and the rest of Judas Priest to make a young fan fell important in such a manner of fashion, especially in this day and age when lots of bands/musicians only see their fans as a means to paying the bills. Do you think Bruce Dickenson would take the time out to acknowledge a seven year old fan at an Iron Maiden concert? Considering his recent behavior, I have drawn my own conclusions, and I'll leave it at that.
