Love the ELF Holy Hydration Balm. I rotate between that and the Clinique Take The Day Off balm. The others I haven’t tried - yet! As always, I just love your bloopers. I can totally identify with the botched words and names!

The ELF holy hydration cleanser balm is difficult to locate in fragrance free in my area. My question is how strong of a fragrance is the regular one? I hate to buy it and have issues with it and waste my $$$.😲

Thank you so much for being brave enough to say that popular products did not work for you. I know CeraVe and Cetaphil are all the rage in affordable products right now, and I have tried several of them, but not a single one has worked well for me at all. I'm so glad to know that it's not just me! It always makes you wonder if you're doing something wrong because everyone else loves these products. But no, some of them just don't work for some people, as much as we wish they did. Great video as always Tamara! ❤️ Happy Easter! 🌺

Great video, I'm so interested in cleansers, it was one thing that I didn't change up either, I love all the other options, though I still use Dove Moisturizing Bar every morning in shower (remember, it's not soap, it's 1//3 moisturizing cream - the ad has stuck with me for 40 years!)

Since they reformulated the cerave hydrating cleanser I can't use it either. Stings my skin and nothing else I've used to date does that. Can't stick the inkey list oat cleansing balm either. Same thing, oil leaked and separated. Left foggy residue on my eyes. Skin was an oil slick after. And inkey list are getting a lot of negative press. Apparently some of their products don't contain what it claims they do. And the elf cleansing balm - oh I love that. So much. Got a little mini as a bonus with purchase at Christmas and fell in love on first use. Thanks for another great video Tamara. You're looking great. Cindy really should change her channel name to Skindy!!

Tamara you have been a g*dsend to this 63 year old nurse with skin issues. We have the same colouring and as a Canadian we deal with winter drying too. You reccommendations have never failed. I look in my make up snd skin care stash and there you are.
My skin has been oily, sensitive and very acne prone so the masking has been brutal. I went to the You Tube skin care community and found oil cleansing to be the leap of faith solution that worked. I now have gorgeus soft skin with rare breakouts. Thank you.
I use the Biosense oil cleanser from Sephora. The Sephora brand balm was a disaster. Too occlusive so it will be promoted to lovely post gardening hand cleanser. I am going to try the Ordinary one. Thanks. We do mot have Ulta in Canada so K beauty is hard to find at a good price. My go to cleanser is Neurogena gentle foaming for years. Cerave moisturizer created breakouts so I have no curiosity about the cleanser.
Keep up the great work I reccommend your channel when people notice my skin change and are wondering. Stay well and healthy my lovely sister nurse.

I recommend this cleanser - Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash. I started using this 4 years ago and have not used anything else. I use a cleansing oil to dissolve makeup and wash with this at night. My skin is clean but not tight. It is more expensive, but the I buy two of the jumbo size pumps at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and I am good for the year.

Thanks Tamara. I’m intrigued by the Ordinary cleanser and will check it out! I Recommend Neutrogena ultra gentle hydrating cleanser creamy formula fragrance free. It’s a great basic and my go to for cream cleansers. Currently loving Inkey List Fulvic Acid cleanser! It’s gentle and has a satisfying gel texture with a touch of lather. It’s so refreshing and doesn’t strip skin. There is no added fragrance but there is a slight scent that I’ll describe as earthy. All time fav is UK drugstore brand My Good Skin comforting gel cleanser. I would describe this as a very thick gel/balm that melts as you work it into skin. Unfortunately I think it’s discontinued.

I'm trying to find less expensive cleanser alternatives, so this is so practical! I tried the Inkey List one with high expectations. I had heard about the separating and was prepared, I thought. I massage the tube very well before each use. I've stored it bottom down, top down, and on both sides. It's almost impossible to get anything out of that tube. I guess on the positive side, NO oil had ever leaked out. I'm going to cut the tube and put it in a sterile jar. I would say it's fragrance free, but I find I smell 'something' almost imperceptable, and I just don't like the lack of ANY sense of freshness in the scent. For years I've used a set of am & pm cleansers, the 2 contain different types of exfoliants: acid & enzyme. They Never irritate my somewhat sensitive skin, but they're pricey. Every time I try different exfoliating cleansers, they irritate and back I go to my Skinn brand of exfoliating cleansers, to avoid 2 steps. Anyway, I won't be repurchasing the Inkey List one which I had purchased for just a balm. Thanks so much for this Tamara. xo

For me, I use whatever is gentle on my skin and is effective, at the lowest price. Since any cleansing product is on my face for less than 60 seconds and gets washed down the drain, I’m left wondering if any of its ingredients are actually beneficial to my skin? I’m a long -time user of Neutrogena Gentle Cleansing Cream for Sensitive Skin and can often find it on sale at the drug store or Amazon. But I am intrigued by your review and will look for the LaRoche-Posay or Elf cleansers the next time I stock up. Thanks for the review Tamara!

With the exception of the Elf balm and the Japanese product, the cleansers you mentioned don't indicate they are good for makeup removal, which is a must for me. I already have the Elf balm and it works great for makeup removal, but not as well as the Banilla Clean It Zero balm. I might try the Japanese product.

I always enjoy your skin care videos! I actually love the oat cleansing balm by Inkey. I agree that you may have gotten a bad tube. On my travels recently, my suitcase was left in a hot car (this Texan should have known better), and my tube leaked out oil! I had not ever had this happen, but thank goodness I always use Ziploc baggies when putting anything that can leak in my suitcase! I went ahead and used it. It seemed to still work, but I had to store it on the seam, not the top.
I really want to try Mad Hippie, but it is not readily available in my little town. I use Amazon, but have forced myself to use a two day delay to keep impulse buying during Covid at bay🤣.
Anywho, oatmeal cleanser might not work for you, but it is good on my dry skin.
Thanks a million for the ideas!

Great video! I can't use any neutragena products. Every one I've tried has irritated my skin and not sure why, but I have oily acne-prone mature sensitive skin. I also get stung by cerave pm and it's not from the niacinamide. You mentioned some of my favorites too. I love the LP toleraine cleaner, but I prefer the new ELf pure skin cream cleanser. Its become a holy grail, my skin feels so soft and hydrated and soothed, and that price point is amazing. I do like the inkey list oat cleansing balm. Its a slight bit more challenging to work with, but I reach for it after using retin a, because it's so inexpensive and my skin is so soothed and hydrated when I use it and it doesn't trigger acne breakouts. It doesn't rinse off easily, I have to use a wash cloth or makeup wipe to remove it, but it does take my waterproof sunscreen and eye makeup off well, and doesn't bother my eyes.

My current go-to cleansers are the elf holy hydration makeup melting cleansing balm as my step 1, followed by the elf bounce back jelly cleanser (it has a coconut scent but feels wonderful on my skin - very hydrating!) as my step 2. After applying my tretanoin or other actives I slather on a generous coat of honeyskin ultimate face & body cream everywhere (including my eyelids and neck). This routine is refreshing and soothing. It feels absolutely decadent, doesn't irritate my rosecea, and makes my skin very happy!! I hope you'll give the other elf cleanser and the honeyskin a try!

      Hello Jean

Agree about the ELF Pure. Been using since I found out about it online a month ago. Excellent. Had to stop using the LRP Toleriane because they changed the formula and added propanediol which I suspect is causing breakouts. Before I found the ELF, I bought the reformulated Cetaphil Gentle. It's nice but sometimes I detect a slight irritation that I never get with the ELF. I will continue to alternate until I use it up and then stick with the ELF. If I've worn SS but no makeup, I use a cotton pad soaked with Klorane Micellar Water prior to getting into the shower. It's very gentle and doesn't contain propylene glycol, which I suspect may be another breakout trigger for me.
Finally, at night, my longtime one step cleanse is Amore Pacific cleansing oil. The scent doesn't bother me and it removes all eye and face makeup with stinging. I do massage, rinse, massage again, then rinse, so it takes almost as long as a double cleanse but it is totally non-stripping. One bottle lasts until a Sephora sale, way over 6 months.

I've heard from a dermatologist, that we should never use a facial cleanser with hyaluronic acid (as in CeraVe) prior to applying retinol or tretinoin. It will definitely lead to drying and stinging. Apparently HA opens the pores and allows more of the retinol treatment to penetrate more deeply, leading to irritation. She recommends the LaRoche Posey; it like, Mad Hippy does not contain HA.

Hi Tamara, the Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser is my absolute favorite. I can remove eye makeup with it and the cleanser doesn’t sting my eyes at all. Avene Gentle Cleanser works good for me too. It doesn’t sting my eyes either. Vanicream products don’t work for me. It always looks gloomy out your window. Best wishes from Mississippi 💕✝️💖🌷

Love the vanicream gentle cleanser myself and I have dry, mature skin. I have heard good things about the Aveeno cleanser. I have tried Mad Hippie and hated them. But to each their own.

Thanks for the wonderful recommendations. Our skin is so different but I still learned a lot! I have always had oily skin that can stand just about anything, I love sudsing cleansers, but! My 31 year old daughter has very sensitive skin and I pass on your recommendations to her. Love cleansing balms so now I have some ideas to try!

Hi Tamara I have hyper sensitive, very dry, rosacea and eczema prone skin - cleansers are a difficult thing to find that don't aggravate/irritate my skin. I have tried a few of those mentioned including the LRP, Aveeno, IL and the ordinary. I tolerate all four without any issues, but none of those are a favourite. The cereve also burns/stings my skin btw. My favourites are from Avene tbh - the antirougours refreshing cleansing milk and the tolerance extreme cleansing cream are both great at removing makeup and leaving my skin soft/clean. I also like the LRP Rosaliac makeup removing misceller gel (newly reformulated to be fragrance free). It's really soothing on the skin and has a really unusual texture - you use it without water initially and it balls up all the dirt and makeup before rinsing off gently. the bioderma sensibio misceller water is another favourite. For cleansing oil I like the Avene Xeracalm cleansing oil, but you apply it to damp skin and it takes off all the makeup etc as a single step. For a more traditional cleansing oil my favourite is the dear Klairs unscented cleansing oil in the clear bottle - gentle and effective. there you go that's my list of the ones that work the best for me. I can't use fragranced skincare and even products that look fine on the INCI list will often not work for me. I tried the SVR cleansing milk for red/sensitive skin and it was a huge fail on patch testing as an example. It's a minefield lol. Best wishes.

Got the Mad Hippie Cleanser in the Ulta sale last week on your recommendation. Love! And I know what you mean about the Cerave cleanser. I used it for ages and about a year ago it started stinging and burning my skin.

The oat cleansing balm was a huge fail for me as well. It got to where I couldn't actually squeeze anything out because the balm part had gotten so hardened. I still can't figure out why people rave about it because it's so hard to use. I've been alternating between the elf cleansing balm and the Banila Co cleansing balm nourishing (not the original), and I'll probably stick with the elf after this, but I do like both. I discovered the LRP Toleriane hydrating cleanser a couple of years ago, and I will not use anything else. I'm on my fourth or fifth bottle. The only time I've used another cleanser is when I've gotten a sample or been gifted something, which only happens a couple of times a year. It's absolutely my HG cream cleanser.

Hi Tamara, I like the ELF cleansing balm and it works better on waterproof mascara than Clinqiue cleansing balm. However, I don’t like the fragrance. I pick up the Clinique cleansing balm when it is on sale so per ounce it works out about the same as ELF. I like foaming cleansers and I alternate between Estée Lauder and Clinique. I also keep an Olay exfoliating cleanser on hand which I use every few days. I also use Olay daily facials when I’m in a hurry.

I love the Vanicream Cleanser, and I have dry skin, also. Maybe it is striping, it just feels very clean to me. I like it best in the evening after my cleansing oil, so I know my face is clean for the night. I was so surprised you mentioned that the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gentle Cleansing Lotion for Sensitive Skin stated it foamed, as it never has for me - It is one of my favorites for both night and morning. I also love the Aveeno and Inkey List for a morning cleanse. I might have to try the Elf Cleansing Balm, but I do love my Hada Labo oil and Clinique take the day off. Thank you for this review!

Thank you for Sharing Julie! It's so interesting how we all have different preferences. Neutragena makes two Hydroboost Cleanser formulas...one is a gel that states is lathers and one is a lotion that apparently doesn't lather. Several people have stated that the ELF Balm is similar to the Clinique...would love to hear your thoughts on that if you try the ELF. Have a great day!

I couldn't use the CeraVe or Vanicream either. I need to try and LRP one I have tried this LRP one Lipikar Wash AP+ Gentle Foaming Moisturizing Wash in the middle of winter and it did foam but it didn't dry me out at all! Really! But it's probably the same prize as the LRP you used and that I have under my skin just waiting for me to finish up the Only List Oat cleanser..which to me doesn't remove my make up as well as I like but I use it as my second cleans. And finish with a microfiber. And you just said you didn't like it either. Yes it does separate so I have to store upside down. Thanks again for another great video. Our opinions are so much the same. Going to try the Elf balm next for my first cleans.

I have both the Aveeno and the LaRoche Posey cleansers and find them very similar in how they feel & work . The non scents are a plus for me. MY laRoche Posey from Ulta is like !9.00..So the Aveena is the more economical of the two. I love both .
