BUT there’s a twist, cause nothing is ever that simple around here - there’s also a second project car here, an ED Fairmont Ghia.
Stay tuned to find out more about these two old girls and what we have planned for them.
Hope you enjoy, if you did and would like to support our little battler channel grow please consider liking, sharing with a mate and subscribe to keep up to date as videos come out!

Love the older ones Browney. Can't wait to see what you do with these E'series.
Just picked up an XF sedan myself and just about to dig in.
Me too mate, keen to get this back on the road.
Good luck with the XF mate!
Love the EB EDs!
I have a EBII Quartz Fairmont Wagon V8
Looking forward to more videos!
Oh nice combo on the wagon mate, would be great! Cheers for watching 👍
The ED was my favourite styling package before the BA
I'm very biased, but they're great cars to me too mate 👍
@@BrowneysGarage I worked carting cars out of the factory between '92 and '06 so your series makes me feel old lol. I owned an NA Fairlaine which I absolutely loved and drove till everything on it stopped working. I've got a BA ute now which is a keeper and I'm getting into do all the work on it myself. I'm really enjoying your channel 👍
@@johnwilliams4545 That's cool, would have seen a few changes during those years with some pretty big model updates.
Good luck with the BA now and thanks for watching 👍
Keen as love the E series Falcs. My second car was an EB series 2.
Awesome, the E series are great cars!
Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy what we have coming mate 👍
Good shit Browney loved the ba wouldn't mind doing it to my ba xr6 N/A
My first v8 was a ed Fairmont, had much fun.
I bet mate, would have been a killer first car. Nice 👍
great vid
gotta love a first car
That makes you around 31 years old. Pretty good that you got into cars so young then - Im just getting into it over the last 4 years, and about to turn 40 years old this year. In hindsight, I wish i started earlier...... but better late than never!
P.S - Love this channel as we just got a 08 Terri, and your channel was one of the first that I saw when researching the Barra
There abouts! Don't worry, I think you may be doing it the right way around. I've really done pretty minimal compared to others, mostly servicing/repairs as needed until recently, but I would still hate to think what I've spent! Slightly easier to bear once you're a bit older and set up, doesn't get me in nearly as much trouble with the folks now as well!
Thanks very much mate, hope you enjoy what we have coming up.
@@BrowneysGarage really keen to see what you do with the old school falcon. There are a few solid ones for sale on carsales and facebook market place - Victorian ones too!
Having to really hold myself back though, as I am slowly working on the N14 pulsar to get it more fun to drive (without going overboard spending money).
Also, loving the garage set up - its simple, but seems to be very effective for a DIY auto-buff.
Keen to watch this build up, i do like the eb though. The colour and the shark fins 👌 id drive it and im a holden guy.
Thanks mate, that's very high praise then! Can't wait to get back into these, turbo NA Barra first then we'll be back onto them 👍
@@BrowneysGarage 👍👍 looking forward to it mate keep up the good work. The xr you've got is a nice one also.
I think that turbocharging is the best way to make some decent power to light up the rears. 🚗🌫
Best for all out power for sure but there’s some pros to the other options as well. Let’s see, not set on any direction in that regard just yet.
Thanks for watching mate
@@BrowneysGarage no your welcome! 🖒
It's just that those 4.0L SOHCs work perfectly well with a turbo bolted onto it.
@queensland ballistics Oh for sure, trust me I'm definitely not ruling it out.
So many good parts on the eb to make the ed a nice streeter!!!! Popular back when I was a p plater years ago had a 5l ed Fairmont ghia and few other mates had e series bloody fun cars for what they were!!! Keen to see the end result definately rare to see a clean e series on the roads these days!!
Great fun cars, especially while they can still be had for reasonable money or back in the day when they were cheap and everywhere. 5L ED Ghia is an awesome combo mate, those old Windsors can sound amazing!
Thanks mate, would love to see more of them back out there one day too 👍
@@BrowneysGarage yeah especially with the manual in yours!!! Was sure comfy with full leather sunroof etc sounded good did a wicked skid but God it was slow haha
@westozzie 89 Haha didn’t want to say it but yep they are. Had an EL XR8 for a while in manual, was a beautiful car but damn they’re slow! For what they could have been anyway
Fuck yeah, I keen to watch this, Ford lover all the way
Legend, got a lot of work to come on these things! Thanks for watching 👍
Awesome mate, great story bout these old beauty's let's take her for one last thrash
Thanks mate, brought back a lot of memories putting this together. Now let's hope it'll put up with one last run before getting some attention!
Extremely keen on new content mate, great video
Cheers mate, hope you enjoy what we have coming up 👍
good on ya Brownie. i have a ed wagon thats been sitting in my shed for about 5 years and now i am motivated to drag it out. looking forward to the BA turbo episodes. did injectors and got a tune on my old ba turbo and real happy with it 300rwkw and did a 12.8 on the quarter. now there is a challenge for you
Thanks Geoff. Do it, time to start bringing the E series back!
Damn good power and time there mate, still not set but don't think we'll turn it up that much... yet. Never know though. Was this just injectors and tune?
@@BrowneysGarage you going need to get a tune anyway so may as well if budget allows fit injectors and think about valve springs. Im only running 12psi which is plenty safe and you wont regret it mate.
@Geoff kydd @Mr. Broccoli Love what you guys are both saying but careful with those 'might as well while you're in there' lines, good way to end up way over budget or with a broke car, or both even.
@@BrowneysGarage yeah i hear ya mate your not a millionaire you tuber. with the extra compression of the na you wont need to run big boost so factory boost will still produce good power. I still have my factory turbo injectors that i am happy to donate to you. that will save you a few hundy will look to see if i still have the cooler as well if that helps.
@@justkyddingracing9268 If only! Yep should be interesting to see what it can do compared to the lower compression engines, will be fun anyway.
Thank you mate that's an amazing offer but we're all good for those pieces, and pretty well all of it now I believe. Just a note before someone else pipes in too, those injectors are the same between NA and turbo but the turbos use higher fuel pressure regulator.
Lovin it. E series 4480s cam 5spd sunny what else could u want in 1
Thanks very much mate. Was a winning combo back in it's day, should still be fun now 👍
Lovin the vids mate!
Can't wait to see it mate 👌🏻
Awesome, thanks for the support mate. Hope you enjoy what we have coming up 👍
@@BrowneysGarage I most likely will I'm a big car nut loving my ba falcon I did the pool noodle trick with the front bar coz of you works great :) planing on a lsd and cold air later
@@TheEndfieldgaming Oh wow very cool to hear people doing some of what's been covered in videos... even better when it works! Certainly can't claim the noodle trick as my own though, that goes back a loooong time.
@@BrowneysGarage ah well i saw it first from you so credit goes to you
Hey Browney, will we be seeing more of this car soon? Really keen to see the project commence.
Hey Charlie, not much has progressed but update and a slight change of plans video is coming, hoping for next Thursday. Project is happening for sure 👍
@@BrowneysGarage Looking forward to seeing it, great to hear. However it turns out, I'll be very excited to see the project unfold.
FAK-530... my EB II's original plates were FAA-660, from new until 2020, when I bought it and it was sent to live with me in NSW. Not far off at all! My head gasket began to leak externally last year. AU MLS gasket and had the head reconditioned, much better now!
Very cool mate, pretty close. And the head gasket things a pain but it's not such a bad job once you've done one, that MLS gasket seems to sort the issue so hopefully it'll be reliable again for many years to come 👍
Awesome first car, my first car was also a 1992 EB2 Fairmont which i always regretted selling. But thankfully the person i sold it to still has it and i'm about to be buying it back, already have a stockpile of parts ready for it.
Now that's a cool story mate, hopefully it's been well looked after and you can enjoy it for many more years. I don't have nearly enough parts stockpiled for these so need to get a wriggle on on that. Good luck and thanks for watching 👍
@@BrowneysGarage Yep still looked after and all factory (apart from a headunit) on the turbo blades even. Can't wait to see more on your project
@@Xfalcondan Might have to tidy up the turbo blades and throw them back on this car for a bit!
I have a set of Cheviot Hotwires that are going on mine but also thinking of polishing and putting the Turbo Blades back on once the car is lowered
Browny you should do a barra swap
Will be staying SOHC for now, already got one Barra on the channel and I like to mix it up a little. 👍
I reckon do a all motor build if you could mate, Na builds for the win
NA definitely has some cool factor but depending on the goal could very quickly kill my wallet trying to squeeze out the last little gains. That said I am still very much on the fence and it could well happen!
when I saw the gutted engine bay pic on insta, I was thinking great a EF/EL project but you thru a spanner in my thinking and went earlier.
Love the EF/EL's as well but my real soft spot is for the earlier box cars.
@@BrowneysGarage loved the EA units until it spat the dummy with a coil pack in the middle of a busy intersection during a winter wet late night peak hour rush
@bryan skerry Similar deal here with the one time this thing left me stranded, killed a coil pack on the main road leaving uni just as everyone else was finishing. Don't think I was popular that day!
@@BrowneysGarage good luck in the projects and keep warm out in that shed during the winter months coming up. Maybe a hydro quick jack set up to help you climb under the beasts might be on the plan
@@gore1978 Thanks mate, will do my best and just suck it up for the rest!
Would love too but I do wonder if it would get in the way more in the smaller garage, not much room at the front or rear in there. Got to keep saving for a bigger shed or concrete/hoist under the carport maybe. I can dream!
I think the water pouring out the exhaust was a dead giveaway.
Man I remember those days of upgrading the stereo, good times. I'd gone to playing my iPod music by 2006, looking forward to the new project 👍🏼
Great times throwing it all together and doing hack installs with mates, was a heap of fun. Thanks for the support mate, hope you enjoy 👍🏼
Looking forward to seeing the E series build , I've been following your ba falcon build since you started absolutely love the E series and b series Ford's
Thanks for supporting us mate, should be fun diving back into these things. Sounds like you're a man of great taste in cars! 👍
Thanks for the information on the BA series.
I was my father had an EB Gaia and they are fantastic cars to sit in as a kid.
No worries mate, more on the BA coming.
They're great old cars, bringing back a lot of memories for me too being around them again.
Hell yeah Browney! Whatever you do, don't Barra swap it. Keep the SOHC lifestyle. Maybe a VCT from an AU XR6???
Glad to have seen so many people react with love for the SOHC, we already have a Barra on the channel so it should be good to mix it up. Will likely stay with the EB's old heart but will look further into the VCT engines 👍
Looks like a sick project you have there mate! You thought about putting a Tickford motor in? Maybe a VCT one from an AU? I don't think the driveline changed that drastically between the models. Plus you could do some upgrades to it: Headers + exhaust, CAI, underdrive pullies, lightweight clutch and flywheel and a chip/tune.
Thanks mate. Both options are probably easy enough other than getting the VCT working but don't think there's enough gains to be had for doing it, especially with the engine in it already having some work done on it. I could be wrong though! Mods are sound like a plan though, some it has, some I'd like to give a go - let's see what happens.
One of my friends old man worked for Ford R & D for the early E series; when the ED came about, they used imported Mustang V8 & gearboxes for the test mules.
The ED Ghia my friends dad had, had a 351 Windsor & Auto from the Mustang. You could change gears via the Up/ Down buttons for the cruise (if cruise was off).
The engine loom was a mix of falcon & mustang, and it also had a modified Explorer rear diff.
My mate is currently doing a restoration/ clean up on it, as his dad has Parkinsons and cant do much these days
Sweet, what a cool story. Hope your mate gets her back out there and wishing all the best for his dad 👍
Had a ea s pack as a first car but ruined it sadly being a 17 year old at the time with next to no knowledge did do a ghia seat swap and put a stereo amo and sub in tho
Don't worry mate, it's a miracle I didn't completely ruin this one! Lets see what we uncover working on it though, I just may have yet. Sure you have some awesome memories with the EA still though, great cars 👍
Thanks browny
This upload was awesome
Glad you enjoyed mate, and thank you for watching! 👍
Put a turbo barra in it.
There's already be a turbo Barra coming on the channel so probably not for this one, let's have some fun with the grandpa SOHC engine!
Ohhh my bad I suppose you could pro charge it😂😂👍👍
Hmm now there's an idea! 😂
Keen for e-series builds!
Although repairing and giving the EB a new lease on life is what personally I'd do, just because I'm a sucker for quartz fairmonts.
Good luck with it though dude either way I'll happily be along for the ride!
Thanks very much mate.
I know, it's a tough call as I do like the colour as well but the points are just stacking up against and the paint itself is much worse than appears on camera.
Awsome bro love good old sohc4L 😍👌
Hell yeah, the SOHC engine needs more love!
@@BrowneysGarage yeah but there tuff as have you seen that eb or ed turbo one that chops barras
@Brock Macckie Been plenty about making good power, it can be done for sure.
@@BrowneysGarage yeah if got the $$ easy but i really like my n/a ba all i want is change few things and put midle cam and go manual and put lsd in which thx to u i got idea how to do even if i stay auto it same progress
Love ya videos man keep em coming
Thanks mate, will do as long as people keep watching! 👍
Got an el xr8 always loved the e series
Awesome, I had the same for a while but that was one I had to let go, big E Series fan too. Great cars, and they sound amazing 👍.
@@BrowneysGarage yes they do. Got the same as u now with a ba and a e series😂Looking forward to the series
@Jedd Tatam A fellow man of fine taste! 😂 Thanks mate
Awesome! Really looking forward to watch you turbo the Barra 😬
Thanks mate, one more video on this and we'll be rolling on the turbo - it's coming I promise! 👍
Awesome content as always❤️
Thank you so much for watching and supporting 👍
I was looking at that impressive beard and wondering when was the last one I saw one that good and than I remembered the old lady next door....
Great video again buddy.
She must be a very handsome lady... Or I'm a pretty boy!? Haha
Thanks legend 👍
Good stuff mate!!!!
Are you going to swap the engine over or just go with a Barra conversion???
Thanks mate.
Plan at this stage is to freshen up the SOHC engine and swap it in, but never know what will happen!
@@BrowneysGarage Definitely keep the SOHC! Everyone does a Barra swap 😒
@Max Rockatanksy That's my feeling at the moment 👍
@@BrowneysGarage If your engine is too far gone and you want to keep the SOHC theme, maybe a VCT engine out of a Tickford AU??👌
@Darren McAliece Could be an option if need be, I'll have to look into how good that VCT system was on those. Never really played with one, not nearly as many of them around.
Bring the noise brother this is gonna be good. 👌🏼
Here's hoping mate, love these old things 👍
@@BrowneysGarage bro it near killed me yesterday I seen a one owner immaculate Commodore VN smashed into a pole crazy
@Dale Denton Ah what a waste. It's weird not seeing the cars from this era on the road any more, even stranger seeing the good examples sky rocket in price though!
Looking forward to these overhauls, builds whatever.Should be good.Owned an EA and EB before, good cars overall.
Thanks mate, me too. Great cars, shame you don’t see many of them any more.
Cheers for watching 👍
Shot man good to see u back
Thanks mate, hope you enjoy a different car for the channel 👍
Good condition E Series examples have just increased in price.
Big time! Shame, I remember when these things were everywhere and could be had cheap.
Faark your a tall dude 6'8" ???
Around 6’6” I believe, tall enough for it to be a pain in the arse sometimes! Haha
Hey! Looks fantastic! My Dad and I have a fairly similar factory manual Ea S-pac sedan, same colour too
Awesome. Those EA are nice and light too, for a Falcon anyway!
Hope you enjoy what we have planned/are planning 👍
Wow I so wanted a EBII-ED XR6 sprint as a 18year old in 1999 after a lotto win farken never happened !!!! great content there E series angry barra as Zane says.... "fuck ya budget" would be great mid life crisis medicine right there bring on the lotto 🍻👍
Get on it before you properly need a lotto win mate, sucks to say but seems most of these old E series are heading up in price... Even old beaters like mine!
Browney's back! Good to see someone doing something other than BA/F/FG/FGX mods or adding a Barra to their project. Love the Shark Fin wheels. Had an ED wagon myself and they were snapped up pretty quick when ever I tried to get a set. Looking forward to where you go with this/these cars.
Thanks Glen, glad I haven't lost you! Will be nice to have a bit of a change coming. If people get back into these E series as much as I hope they do then maybe we'll start seeing more of them again.
Great wheels, think I prefer the EL GT wheel so would love to get a set but not sure how they'd work on this. Good luck getting those now though, both the shark fins and EL GT's are going really quick as you say!
Cheers for watching and hope you're well 👍
so happy to see that you you have final done a new vid i been hanging to see what was coming up next keep up the great work mate love you work
Thanks for hanging in there mate. Don't think these videos will ever be as regular as some others but if you like what we do and stick with us, I'll do my best to keep them coming 👍. Thanks for watching
Going to be awesome! Turns out we are the same age but my first car was an EL
Sweet, thanks mate! Miss the days when the E series were everywhere, EL was definitely in the mix for first car, I've owned one and loved it too but always had a soft spot for the earlier box car shape 👍
Sell me the Fairmont body :)
Swap you a running vs commodore wagon with rego for it 😂
No chance! 😂
Eb front looks better. It needs a turbo. Gtx3540. Na costs to much.
Man, whoever butchered that ED is a total hack!
Whoever it was should be beaten, but I'm more worried about the hack work that gets uncovered working on the EB!
dam. I sold my eb earlier this year and I feel these videos may make me regret that. great videos mate.
Not too late to buy another! Got to be done some times though, I was lucky that this wasn’t really worth much at all when it was taken off the road so it made my decision a little easier.
Thanks and hope you enjoy what we have coming up!
I'm not pumped to see your first shell go to waste :(
Most likely will go but it's not gone yet mate, never know what bad/expensive idea I could get for it along the way!
Too late mate 30-32.
Someone had to do it didn't they!
Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment. We seem pretty similar so I'm keen to see more.
Got to be to keep watching these videos mate! Haha awesome, thanks for the support and watching along mate 👍
Just ditch the abs. It caused more accidents than it prevented. Ed abs was utter crap, and made the decent for there time brakes dangerous.
That must be the first time I’ve heard anyone talk positively about the E series brakes!
@@BrowneysGarage compared to the rubbish Holden fitted to commodores. Yep, absolutely. But the abs is puss.
Edit.
Holden never fitted good brakes to any commodore except for the redlines. Always sub par to the falcon equivalent going right back to the xk. HQ’s were known for not even being balanced enough to lock up and skid straight.
I don’t know how you could think they (e series) aren’t adequate for the power, weight and purposed of the vehicle.
And I’m not a one eyed ford man, I have a classic commodore in the garage, but I’m very cautious about driving it in modern traffic because of the crappy (opt. 4 wheel disc) brakes.
@@nathan2483 For commuting I agree, they're fine. And compared to HQ or early Commodores I'm sure they feel good too, but myself and mates have had brake fade so quick in these things on hill runs that I just can't call them good. Will throw some good rotors, pads and fluid at it to sort it as best I can but it's a shame there's no budget-ish upgrade for them anymore.
@@BrowneysGarage I suppose it depends what you refer to as budget, but you could look into a wilwood kit from Castlemaine rod shop. They’re usually reasonably priced (320mm for $1500, 355mm for $2500 for xr-xy).
@@nathan2483 Definitely fair and would jump at something like that at some point if available but nothing for E-series Falcons at this stage.
Oh no the dreaded sharkfins rims make a guest appearance nice car otherwise
Hey the FTRs/shark fins (I hate that name for them! Haha) are great wheels! Each to their own though 👍
Thanks for the support as always mate
