I’ve used the shaft on all my wood for almost 2 years. Very satisfied, you’re right about adapter quality. The driver adapter separated and it took some epoxy to stabilize it. I’m in the process of shortening the shaft on driver and 3 wood to get more consistent.
I have used these shafts since 2022 when they were raw carbon and super wild looking. I love them and continue to use them. I wish they had kept the Raw carbon look to the shafts but they say too many people complained so they made the smooth second version. I also have used many other shafts during this time and these are among the best I have tried.
Bought a stiff flex Steadfast shaft in Dec. 2020. This season I had my best driving year ever. This was after going to CC and told a Titleist TSi2 with an Accra shaft was my best set up (price tag $900+) Figured a $75 shaft was worth checking out. It was. I’m a happy Steadfast customer.

I have had the X-Flex not long after it first came out with the red/green decal. It worked fine for me with tighter ball dispersions. Sure enough the tips of these shafts are undersized and have to trim to fit tightly. The driver head flew off once on me, too. l broke the tip in the midst of a round after a while. Got a free new replacement as promised by the company, but all black ingrained with swirvel grain pattern and without any decal this time around. That worked better, slimer, and softer in same X-Flex than its predecessor. All in all l am quite happy with it going against most of my buddies' AutoFlex and Ventus shafts. I had just ordered the new Jupiter1 to try out with my new PING G425 Max Driver hoping for the best.
Great feedback, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm not currently gaming this shaft but still go back to it occasionally. It seems to help me smooth out my tempo.
I bought a few of these shafts when they were on sale about a month ago. First off, one of them came in with the tip undersized. That may be why some folks experienced heads flying off in the past. In my case I'll have to trim the tip about an inch to get a snug fit. I built a mini driver using an R flex shaft with an Acer Thriver mini head (13*). Swung it once on a simulator and it wasn't too bad. Definitely had a tighter dispersion than even my 3 wood, but I'll have to play with it a few times before making a decision.
Good shafts but you have to have club building experience and be able to fit the shafts yourself. Cant trust the build quality of complete shafts from Steadfast.
Thanks for review. Interesting product. Novice question for driver or irons .. are you supposed to be able to feel a shaft load or bend? With reg flex dyn gold r300 in irons i definitely could feel it bend somewhere during the downswing. S300 i feel no bend, so was curious if you are supposed to feel it or not. On a side note, anything new on the horizon from maltby?
Good question. We definitely need to load the shaft... They are essentially springs. How much we feel it load, well, that's very subjective. I felt too much load with this shaft, given then flex. I don't feel much load with my irons, but if I switch to a shaft that is too stiff, I feel what it's like not to be able to load it. This is where feel for the golfer definitely is important in a fitting. For example, I was playing clubs I made for my wife, and I can really feel the loading. I just can't time the unloading. I want a shaft that matches my swing, VS trying to swing to match the shaft. Hence my conclusion that perhaps I should have gone with the S flex on this one. Who knows, maybe I'll buy one!
Hi! Good review. I have had two of these shafts shatter, not while swinging but just leaning on it to set my tee the first time the second time when I tapped it on the ground (a bit hard but nothing to unusual). I think the carbon does not react the way graphite does. To have two shafts break or snap right in the middle is too big a coincidence. Steadfast replaced them for free and quickly but I worry playing them in a competition and have it happen again. I did like the shaft and it performed well.
received a driver and 3 wood stiff on 03-14-23. After 5 shots with the 3 wood the head flew off, then after re-glueing by the shop at the course it flew off again 4 days later when I came back. I emailed SF Golf for a refund and no refunds allowed. Then took to Roger Duns they said the tips were not preped properly the paint was still on the tip so the assembly came apart the bonding was not strong enough. So I aked them to remove and re-prep the tips and re-install Titliest fittings. I liked both shafts however the feel and stability was high quality felt similar to my Diamona shafts.
Thanks for posting your experience. I thought they had solved this problem, but apparently the tip prepping is still an issue. Seems unfair that their policy is no refunds when a product is defective. I've moved on from this shaft and am back to trusted brands.
Looking at this, brings tom wishon principles into perspective. Most shaft fitting matrix rely on swing speed vs other dynamics of loading, transition and tempo. Plus release points. For you, the machine says, awwww you upper 90s swing speed, go r flex. Yet, your clearly a moderate loader, with a quick transition and a early/mid release. So that solid butt, giving you free reign to yank, but the soft mid , and decent tip is just lagging. The ei profile just not to your dna swing mechanics. That's why you have that mid soft shaft in trail deflection, resulting in those push fades, eventually slices. If only they can develop a more affordable mechanism to test load, release, tempo, and transition metrics, that would so dial players in much better. But, would definitely like to see more specs, and a run at it in a s flex. Plus, are you hitting the heel and bulge and roll giving you r to L action. Could it be a length issue too. )
Good observations King. You have summed up the variables, and my swing, very well. I may go for the S Flex at some point, as tipping isn't recommended with this shaft. I noticed the heel strikes when I was editing the video. Another reason this shaft didn't fit me well.
@@fit2yougolf926 ..... was seeing this shaft be a topic, and had to come back and review this video. Nnnnn that flimsy midsection is still the big stand out. Now it has me wondering what the ei profile of these shafts are, in any flex. Which now has me interested in seeing you test ei profile shafts. N we see; Ok butt, soft mid, and firm tip isn't your swing dna ei profile. Been playing with different shafts with all my drivers and thinking about this in S flex for my gen 4 PXG. Was fitted for my PXG and they put in a x stiff Aldila NV (one of my favorite shafts) but I think it is too stiff as my 110+mph swing speed at my fitting was after being very warmed up. On my home LM, I am more in the 105 to 110. I recently ordered a NVS shaft for my Epic driver in 55 gram as that is the same shaft I have in my old FT3 and I am really loving the lighter shaft and heavier head. Looks like these are only offered in around 68 grams for the S which is 3 grams heavier than what I have in my PXG currently. So still on the fence about buying it. Thanks for the review as not many reviews out there for this shaft.
@@fit2yougolf926 I did order 2 shafts from them. One for my driver and the other for my 3 wood. On my home sim, I’m seeing 9 yards longer carry and 7 yards longer total distance (spin is a tad higher with steadfast). With my 3 wood; it’s no contest. I can’t hit the Aldila at all but was crushing the steadfast. Very happy with it. Definitely a heavy shaft but swing speed was not impacted.
Sim 2, switched from a Hzdus Smoke 70G to the SF S flex. Something is going on because I used to be the shortest driver in my group. Not anymore. I did a new world order on my foursome after blasting a 298 drive that split the fairway like Moses. I felt like Jesus. Walking to my ball, and looking back at them in the fairway made me laugh out loud, literally. Exercise and switching to the SF S flex shafts, I have gone from 250 to 270 off the tee. The conclusions are as follow: 1. we all had irregular distance from worse than normal to the extreme of one (1) shot by one of us which propulse the ball more than 25 yards than his longest one….we figured out that the ball was on Jamaican Golf. 2. Dispersion was normal to our standards as in left and right plus/ minus 25 yards 3. Swing speed was lower for about 30% of times even with a regular shaft wich needs a bit more strength to swing. So above all keep your money for something else .
