  • In today's video, we're diving deep into the brewing storm between Ford and its dealers over the handling of inventory, rebates, and sales strategies. With Ford EV sales seeing an astonishing 81% growth in February 2024 compared to the previous year, you would think everything's going great, right? Well, not exactly. Despite the sales bump, a whopping 15,000 units are still sitting on lots, begging the question: What's really fueling Ford's sales surge?
We uncover the role popular RUclipsrs like CarEdge, Car Questions Answered, and Untamed Motors have played in directing a spotlight towards Ford, thereby influencing consumer behavior and inventory offloads. From hefty rebates on 2023 models to the slashing of inventory counts, we analyze Ford's strategy and question whether this is sustainable or just a temporary fix.
But what happens when the 2023 models run out? Will Ford continue to offer appealing deals, or will sales dip as incentives dry up? We compare Ford's offers with Chevy's strategies, questioning why Ford isn't lowering prices further despite dealer frustrations and a clear need to shift inventory.
Is Ford's pricing strategy out of touch with today's economic reality? And who's really at fault for the current situation - Ford or the dealers? This video delves into the murky waters of automotive sales, dealer relations, and the future of Ford's pricing and incentive strategies.
Moreover, we also provide a glimpse into the future of Ford and Chevy in the market, discuss lease rates, rebates, and residuals, and share insights on how to navigate the complicated car buying process. Plus, you'll get exclusive access to my negotiation guide cheat sheet that's helped countless viewers save on their car purchases.
So, is it wise to buy a Ford right now? Which model and year will offer the best value? Stay tuned as we uncover the truth behind Ford's sales strategies, and don't forget to hit subscribe to keep up with the latest insights and tips in the automotive world.

Ray and Zach postulated Stellantis isn't helping dealers because they want to shrink their dealer network and move to a direct to sell business like Tesla. Since Ford has been complaining about dealers and has talked about moving to direct sales as well, they may be doing the same.

I've been looking for an F-150 Tremor. I priced out the "current" base price of the 2024 with the base price of the 2023 in the local area. The base price is 5.6% higher and the 402a package is 55% higher albeit it probably has more included.
I'm now 73 and tend to keep my vehicle for ten or more years so this would be my last purchase. I'm looking for at least 10-13% or 10k off the MSRP. If I can't get what I want for the price I'm in search for, I'll probably be buried in my 2012 F150 FX4 which has been a great vehicle!

Chuck if you buy a new one you’ll likely have to get another one in 5 years. These new trucks with aLl the sensors and issues will make you want to trade it in instead of dealing with the maintenance while having a monthly payment. Good luck to you.

I can’t believe a F-150 lightning that costs $96,000 with a few hundred miles when its worth less than ( I believe that’s what it is) (after a year) $50,000 if you take cash for it from a dealer. That an even bigger issue!!!!! Ford literally has to offer a buy one get one free at this point!!!

You seem to think this is an "EV problem"
      .
      It's not.
      .
It's the result of "overoptimistic" manufacturers "selling" (all) vehicles at a high price to "overoptimistic" dealers, who took those vehicles "on credit" (floorplan) believing that because they *had* always sold, they *would* always sell.
      .
Those "overoptimistic" dealers then sold vehicles to customers, who were somewhat "pessimistic", thinking prices were only going higher, but also "optimistic" that the vehicle (that's *ANY* vehicle, ICE or EV) would hold value.
      .
And of course, they bought on finance....
      .
      What could *POSSIBLY* go wrong?
      .
      Result?
*TWO* layers of "customer" (end consumer and dealer) "under water"
      .
Then, realisation started to set in,
*Some* end consumers saw it and delayed their purchase.
But, the dealers were still marking up to offset their costs as buyers started walking away.
      .
So now dealers have "New/ old stock" they can't sell close to *their* floorplan price, but they're still paying interest.
      .
And.... Consumers are waiting for the collapse to pick up a bargain.
      .
It was (is) a house of cards.
      .
Nothing to do with "Ford" or "EVs".
      .
It's "the nature of the beast" in a consumerist society.
      .
"More, newer, better, NOW!" With an "It'll be alright" attitude.
      .
When it's going well .... Fantastic!
But when outside circumstances upset the narrative.... Watch out!

The Hertz CEO Lost his job..... More likely because well intended people with no real idea of the tech thought it was a good idea, but didn't research the use case enough to understand they needed:-
      .
Slow charging on site (to overcome the "return full" issue)
      Employee training (Why wouldn't you?)
Basic customer training (notice in car?)
      Etc.
      .
As for the "they sold all the Tesla's!" myth.
A (small) *percentage* of the cars sold were Tesla, but they typically had much higher mileage than a normal "end of contract" vehicle, so it's likely they actually made money (or would have if the terms of the contract were correct.... Back to the expertise issue?)

    The Ford situation (imo)?
    .
Jim Farley was interviewed recently regarding EV plans.
    .
    Reading between the lines....
    .
Ford now has no intention of pushing sales of the F150 Lightning / Mach-E
    .
They have the NACS agreement with Tesla.
    .
The have the adapter for existing vehicles.
    .
They lose a huge amount on every *existing* EV sold.
    .....
    BUT
He said "Wait 'till you see the new products" (paraphrased)
    ......
    Their plan? (Again, imo)
    .
Wait for the Tennessee plant, "due" 2025 (we'll see)
    .
It's their best (only?) chance of making a compelling EV at the price required, with profit.
    .
(Its also their best chance of a factory without "Union influence"... But don't tell anyone)
    .
What's going to be in the vehicles?
    .
    Well.... My guess
    .
    2 choices.
    1) A major link with Tesla, using the Tesla 48v and driver assist systems (soon to be autonomy)
    .
This might mean Ford essentially becomes the unofficial Tesla "mid sized personal truck/ commericial division"
(Bearing in mind the move away from smaller cars by Ford?)
Leaving Tesla to go after volume?
    .
    2) Recent reports of a collaboration between Ford and BYD?
    Batteries?
    Vehicles?
    Who knows...
    (Maybe for "outside North America"?)
    .
