I built this a couple of weeks ago. Then the garage got flooded. Just finished it yesterday. I learned so much doing this. Love the way it turned out. Flaws and all. My first build 😊. Thank you!
The first half of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
I made two of these this week to sit under my windows in my family room. I made one to test my novice woodworking skills and then made a second one using better wood after my confidence grew. I added some wood glue and more screws (less nails) for stability. I also shortened the legs so the height would keep is under my window ledge. This video, while others may not appreciate it, has saved me nearly $600. People complaining because the overall cost is closer to $50 are being extremely petty considering how comparable stands will cost AT LEAST $150 (and MORE if you buy the quality of wood I used that only cost me $60). Thank you, Rehab Life!
Exactly! Console tables are surprisingly expensive!😬 The stain and polyurethane can also be used on other projects. It’s not like you’re only gonna get one use out of them.
I agree. These videos are inspirational. I like the method they use to show the process. If I want to up my novice game and try with pocket screws or use maple, I can do that. I may want a shelf near the bottom and these and their other videos are great for learning.
Just made one this weekend. Took your same designer but substituted the 1×6 for a 1×10. That give me enough room to put my books on the shelves. I also used pocket holes to do all my fastening of the legs. Between that and splurging for redwood for the legs, it turned out very sturdy. Would probably fasten the top with pocket holes if I were to do a similar design again so you dont get any holes in the top. All in all, great video and great design. Thanks!
I love everything ya do, I have all ready created some of your designs, I love them because they are simple, no table saw, no router, no expensive tools needed. Doing these projects bare feet is just another example of how easy they are. My son moved out 2 months ago and I made all his furniture, living rm, bedroom, kitchen table, bathroom cabinet, just using your projects and his friends are so impressed, it looks fabulous and original. Now I gotta make 2 console tables, one for me the other for my son, maybe even one for my mother. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and projects.
Did this table today, I think it came out nice. $30 it did not cost, more like $70, but that's ok, it's still cheaper than the store. Plus I have the satisfaction of building it myself. I would recommend using the screws for the entire project. They make everything feel tighter and a little more solid.
Your videos are absolutely perfect for anyone who feels overwhelmed by woodworking plans. And intimidated by all the YT woodworking videos that are so far beyond one’s abilities, it seems. I love how you have broken all the steps down and taken the time to show every move. These projects feel attainable. I have a shed full of standard size salvaged lumber and all the screws and nails anyone could want, thanks to my much more able and brilliant spousal unit. I am going to start with a small bench, and who knows? Thank you, and thanks also to your intrepid four legged helper.I have some of those too.
I built this last night. I was very simple. However, the person at the store did not cut a piece correctly so I have some sanding to do. Other than that, it came out great. I used screws and wood glue just to make sure that everything stays in place. I am going to make the farmhouse table next. Love the videos!!
I spent $76 on everything to include 2 different sand papers, carpenters glue, wood, and wood filler. I already had the stain. I think the price depends on the type of wood you want to purchase.
I've done my share of woodworking projects over the years, and had lost interest in them mostly because I ended up overcomplicating things (Too much information on the internet!) and frequently things just didn't turn out how I expected. Saw this recently and it fit a need we had, built it in a day and my woodworking interest feels like it's come back. Your methods are very approachable and I'm super happy with the results. Can't wait to see more!
My husband and I are about to move into our first home and I just want you guys to know that I watch and re-watch your videos all the time! I will be making so much of your designs and I love the simplicity and classiness of them! Thank you guys for doing this! ❤️
For the folks complaining that the materials cost are not correct and such. Move on! I have been building projects like this, selling them at craft shows for decades and I appreciate that videos like this that give people hope and can get people started learning how to do things. Look at some positives for a change instead of whining about your petty little know it all ideas.
Thank you so much for this video!!! Followed the plans but changed slightly to fit the dimensions on the side of my sectional... and I cannot be more in love!! Wish RUclips let me post a picture!!
We made this today! The wood total was $67 from Lowe’s...about double what was advertised. That’s my only complaint. Instructions were easy to follow and super easy to put together. Thanks for the videos!!
I was inspired to make this console table due to consoles on the market being so expensive. I have never worked with wood or built anything from wood in my life and thought something like this was only for skilled pros. To my surprise, this was extremely easy to put together based on the simple steps in the video. I am so impressed with results. Honestly, I still cant believe I made something that looks like I purchased at the store! People would never have guessed that I made this.
This was me and my hubby’s project. We love it so much 😍😍😍. We even made the bench and it looks so gorgeous ☺️. Thank you guys so much ❤️. You guys are amazing ✨ oh yeah and girl!!! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL 😘 from the G family.
You guys make it so easy and fun somebody living in an apartment or fist time homeowner to making their living areas a little more homey. You guys provide a excellent service with your idea and well thought out projects. 👍 Excellent video!
Thanks, The Rehab Life for the video. I needed some guidelines for an 8' entry way console that I want to make. The lumber is left over from other projects (as well as the stain, screws, putty) so I will call this my FREE console table. I appreciate your sharing as I needed some fun and a quick walk-through of the process. I am so sorry you have to put up with Chris Parker. Please keep up the good work. And, as you know what he said "It's about credibility and how serious you want people to take you on youtube." PLEASE just be yourself and don't let haters spoil it for us! Thank you!
This is actually a very attractive, simple and easy-to-make sofa table, or console table, that ANYONE could build as a nice addition to their home. Well done. Good instructional video.
I made a dining table thanks to your video you made a while back. I changed my measurements a bit because I wanted mine a little bigger. My first piece ever! It's not 100% perfect but I love it and have gotten so many compliments from friends and family. Thanks for the inspiration. My next project is this console table and a computer desk! I'm so excited :)
I can totally do this, and it has style! I live in a condo where the mess of cutting would be too much, but these are nice simple cuts I can get at the hardware store. Thanks!
I think this is a great project! I just think the viewers should know to build it out of properly kiln-dried lumber and also have a more realistic expectation of the material cost. It's impossible to make something with exterior grade lumber that doesn't crack, split or warp overtime. At most Home Depot's or Rona's the stain and finish alone would be $25 after tax.. I'd really like to see a budget breakdown in one of your videos.
I agree with you Danny M! I went to Home Depot this morning and it would have cost me over 100 dollars to make this DIY project. I guess if I was blonde and pranced around with stretch pants people would believe anything I posted also.
Love this video. I’ve bought all the wood yesterday and am going to try to accomplish this project this weekend. It came out to about $50 in just the lumber, but that is not terrible. Especially since I live in Alaska where everything is significantly more expensive than the lower 48, this project is very affordable and much cheaper than paying a furniture store $800 here for one similar.
you guys are wounderful I really love how simple and practicle you make these projects look. I told my three boys we're going to work with wood. I home school and this is a great way to teach them how to work with wood and build things. It would be really nice if you guys can come up with a kitchen island prep cart... thanks
Such a well detailed DIY tutorial. I have been shopping around for a console table in its simplest form. You would not believe the prices for these items. My daughter and her fiancé are learning to work with woods. They have made a few items and planning to go back to school f to learn more. In the meantime, making these tables and sell them at the flea market can definitely bring them some income. I cannot think you enough. Do you mind if I ask you a question?
Looks great and the instructions seem clear and simple enough. I'm definitely going to give it a go since I dont have the saw I'll just have the store cut it out for me.
I love the table, and the instructions are pretty clear. I want to make this but it will be 84 inches long for behind my sofa, and i will add a shelf at the bottom for storage. Can't wait to get started, Great video, thank you.
I'd like to see this built using red oak 1X material, pocket holes and glue and more support for the legs. Also with an 1/8" round over using a router on the sharp edges.
Cool! I built one of your benches and it came out great ( the $15 bench), I like that you use basic tools like what I have, and you are not constantly selling tools, and a bunch of other stuff. I like this and it will probably be my next projecy.
Going to def build this! as other people have said, put some shoes on at least, ive dropped all kinds of tools and luckily i'd been wearing my boots. Hate to see something bad happen but yall looked like you had fun, thanks for the build :)
Im in Canada, just bought my supplies for this project, including a big container of the 2" screws. All in $40. Not including stain or nails which I had. Decent low cost.
These are absolutely wonderful DIY videos and some of the best out there. They are well produced, great lighting, wonderful close ups and only the necessary clips. They provide an easy to read list of materials then they list the steps in clear text so you can read it then they demonstrate it. Textbook Instructional Videos. Liz is cute as can be...and she works barefoot!....and she has pretty feet!!! I watch just for that alone! Bonus #2? Henry is adorable and love that he is in the videos too. Keep these up. I love watching them! Great job!
I learned a lot from your videos, I love making things too, and making DIY projects. I also started my RUclips channel. I made one of this console table and made it as a coffee bar. I really liked it.Thank you
My boyfriend and I are trying this tonight! We had absolutely no supplies at home so total cost of everything (including getting the wood precision cut) ended up being $100. Despite this, the instructions seem clear and easy to follow and we're hoping to get a good sofa table out of this :)
Thank you for this! I posted on your farmhouse table video, which I watched first, that I wanted to build a desk if I make it a bit wider. This is even better for a desk. Love it! I find your super cute, up beat attitude fun to watch and I love how much you love your doggo!
I love this entire video so much, but my absolute favorite part is PuppyDogFace joining you at 1:54 and the various shimmying throughout as you displayed your progress 🏆😆 🏆
I did some research and priced out materials based on the given list: For the wood at home depot i came up with $26.17 For nails (40 pk), screws (100pk), wood filler, sand block- $16.87 Wood stain (8oz)- $8 Grand total: $51.04 The cost really can vary! Perhaps look on craigslist, offer up, fb marketplace, and/or local hardware stores for supplies. Even yard sales and flea markets or anyone that sales scrap wood. This is still a great price considering that stores sell these tables for 100 and up. Once you're able to find affordable wood, buy nails in bulk (so you have left overs for other projects), the possibilities are endless. Shop around folks and get creative =)
I shortened the legs, the length some, and added a shelf on the bottom to make a flatscreen display table. The customer loved it. I only had to cut holes in the back for cables to pass through.
This is awesome. I love it. I already finished one TheRehabLife project and this will be the next one! My problem is that I only have a circular saw and the cuts are not that straight. Maybe I will invest in a miter saw.
I've seen some rough joinery and staining jobs during my life and this one is the best (roughest) one yet. Don't give up your daytime job to follow a career in woodworking.
I wonder if it is workable to stain the insides of the cubbies before completely assembling it. It seems it would be easier and make it easier to get the stain non nicely.
Very nice peice, and great job buildinng it! I love the simplistic approach you guys take, barefoot and all! Maybe Liz's nickname should be "The Barefoot Builder". 😄
Very nice. The only improvement I can sugggest is using glue on the wood joints. That would keep the unit from coming apart from the shaking. I like the simplicity though. Keep it up.
Hi guys love this, you make it look so easy and it inspiring to give it a go. I was wondering if you could make it a little shorter in length and wider in width and add drop leaf sides for an extending craft table. I have limited space and really appreciate the advice. Thanks in advance x
thank you for content like this! you made it look very easy. I've never built anything before but have been wanting to. this video made it look less intimidating!
Thank you both for the video, I will be doing this build soon here, but planning on a modified touch to it. Love the Video, keep it up, great idea here, am sure there is more. Thank you again
Omg. love, love ya'lls designs. This is what I'm hoping me and my baby start doing together when she gets outta jail. Even the name kills me, cuz it's spot on for us too :) Thanks alot
Using dovetail or box joints on the box with mortise and tendons on the legs and frame would insure this last multiple lifetimes with this version it's probably not super strong but usable
Love this project but I would have applied stain conditioner first so the stain could absorb more evenly? Or maybe paint it. Going to try to build this myself!
Hello! really nice, i want to build it but the measurements dont aligne pretty well, can you please tell me if they are correct? example: with the 1 1/2" overhang, how will the 2x2 fit perfectly? great videos, im just starting to work with wood. Thanks
Rafael Gabriel Grullon Guzman I know your comment is over a year old lol but maybe it will help someone else. 2x2s are not actually 2 inches by 2 inches. they are more like 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches, if you measure them. That is why they fit perfectly :)
Hi, This looks great! I think I might be able to make this even though I’m old as a rock! I’m wondering if I just made it using one 1x8 if it would be wide enough to stand alone as a sofa table? Not be too wobbly and fall over. I love your other builds too. You guys are such a cute couple! Very easy to understand tutorials.
I built this a couple of weeks ago. Then the garage got flooded. Just finished it yesterday. I learned so much doing this. Love the way it turned out. Flaws and all. My first build 😊. Thank you!
Would you say this would be sturdy enough to use as a tv stand?

How do the 2" screws do anything to secure the 2x2" leg board to the shelves? Wouldn't it just barely peek through?
Ignore the small minded people. I have my materials already to build this!!! I like your idea of using screws for more stability.
Just made one this weekend. Took your same designer but substituted the 1×6 for a 1×10. That give me enough room to put my books on the shelves. BattleshipStLouis what kind of screws did you use?
Me too this was 90 dollars this video and all the other ones are misleading

They cut all the pieces for you at the store? I didn't realize they did more than one or two cuts
How much did you spend on everything? Is it really only. $30?
I spent $76 on everything to include 2 different sand papers, carpenters glue, wood, and wood filler. I already had the stain. I think the price depends on the type of wood you want to purchase.
I went to Home Depot with the measurements and the guy cut them for me. It was so much easier than to do it at home. Saved time, plus it was free.
Pamela Wilson What kind of wood did you use?
I've done my share of woodworking projects over the years, and had lost interest in them mostly because I ended up overcomplicating things (Too much information on the internet!) and frequently things just didn't turn out how I expected. So what's the benefit of saying it only cost 70 dollars?
I live in Thailand, so I'd probably spend less :D
Jim Blume you’re a complete idiot.
Jim Blume yes!!!
You don't need "hope" you need realism
that looks so amazing - exactly what id want to have
Thanks!

I don't know about the last comment, but for what your doing you hang up " dem dare " shoes. I'm envious. You guys rock. Best of luck, Liam
For me, this can be a console table/school desk for my two kiddos. Thanks for the build! This will be my next project.
I look around for good woodworking projects and this is a good one ! Thanks
I made the coffee table and the blanket ladder!!! You guys are great. Thank you
I’ve been wanting to try woodworking for a while. Your videos are inspiring.
THANK YOU GUYS. DID THE DINING TABLE BENCH A MONTH AGO... YESTERDAY I FINISH THIS CONSOLE, LOOKS GREAT.
I was inspired to make this console table due to consoles on the market being so expensive. I built two of these for our screen room and I love them. Now if you would show me how to build a pergola!!!! Pleaseee 😊
Agree with Pergola.
Also, Garden entrance arch.

Yup, they should totally be able to make the cuts for you, good luck!
I agree with you Danny M! I went to Home Depot this morning and it would have cost me over 100 dollars to make this DIY project. I guess if I was blonde and pranced around with stretch pants people would believe anything I posted also.
maybe they already had extra lumber and only had to buy stain............
+Lana S maybe, but that would defeat the point of giving it the $30 price tag in the title
If you're interested these are some great woodworking plans you could use: HootWood.com
Love this video. I’ve bought all the wood yesterday and am going to try to accomplish this project this weekend. It came out to about $50 in just the lumber, but that is not terrible. Very sturdy, and easy to clean.Excellent product
Glad you used a respirator when applying stain & poly. But tbh, its worth using a P100 mask during sanding and at the miter station as well.
Such a well detailed DIY tutorial. I have been shopping around for a console table in its simplest form. You would not believe the prices for these items. Your channel is so inspiring! Honestly makes me want to build furniture for my house even though I've never built anything before!
Made this today, turned out great. Your tutorial videos are the best and laid out perfectly. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
great work Liz its so great to see the use of a hammer and nail great looking table and as always great video
I'd like to see this built using red oak 1X material, pocket holes and glue and more support for the legs. Also with an 1/8" round over using a router on the sharp edges.
Awesome...this is what im looking for...trying to make 1 for my kitchen after covid 19 settled..thanks vm for this
I giggled throughout your video..great work and great personality..
Thanks!
I see so much of hate comments, but don't be disheartened, your projects are easy to make and of great design too. Cheers! Keep up the good work!
easy to break too
try working hard and making the project sincerely for a change lol

I love that they show you don't have to have tons of equipment to bulid something nice for your home. Just a small space and the essentials...
I like them to be this way , no time to listen for too
Much talking, just do it and so easy !

Awesome! Thanks for watching!
THANK YOU GUYS, THIS WILL BE AN EASY PROJECT FOR MY OFFICE. YOU GUYS ARE AWSOME!!!!!!!
Im in Canada, just bought my supplies for this project, including a big container of the 2" screws. All in $40. Not including stain or nails which I had. Decent low cost.
Yes, I have to agree...screws, nails, boards and wooden floors are no place for bare feet! It only takes one time!
These are absolutely wonderful DIY videos and some of the best out there. They are well produced, great lighting, wonderful close ups and only the necessary clips. Bonus #2? Henry is adorable and love that he is in the videos too.
Keep these up. I love watching them!
Great job!

I could watch her all day everyday
forget the haters!!! great job! and please stay barefooted !
very nice, I think I might go with pocket holes in some spots, this might be the table my daughter is looking for, thnx!!
Great videos. I've made the kitchen table and side tables. Too bad in California the lumber prices are way higher. Great videos either way.
I love this entire video so much, but my absolute favorite part is PuppyDogFace joining you at 1:54 and the various shimmying throughout as you displayed your progress 🏆😆 🏆
Just used a combination of her two designs to make a 72 long industrial version of this. I appreciated the share
This is awesome. It looks like I will be making myself a brand new desk.
ikea eat your heart out! i love it. gonna make one but slightly different. keep it up guys
Thanks for watching!
Sorry!!.. another winner!!..great job!!..💜😄
Love your console table. Especially the length. It came out very nice. A new subscriber to your channel.
Excellent guide - straightforward and to the point. Thanks a lot guys!
I did some research and priced out materials based on the given list:
For the wood at home depot i came up with $26.17
For nails (40 pk), screws (100pk), wood filler, sand block- $16.87
Wood stain (8oz)- $8
Grand total: $51.04
The cost really can vary!
I loved her video on the console table it gave some ideas. Also you sure have a cute dog .
NICE. Am going to save this for the future. Console table - sofa table - whatever it's great to have.
I'am going to try to make this over Christmas break . great video!
My fav of all !! Keep posting. Happy New Year !!!
I wonder if it is workable to stain the insides of the cubbies before completely assembling it. It seems it would be easier and make it easier to get the stain non nicely.
I love you guys and looooveee everything you do!! So easy and simple to follow. Thank you very berry much!!!!!❤👏👏👏👏
Great job, looks cheap and easy but will last.. now if we all had a cute puppy like you ; )
I love the way you build.
All of your projects are excellent ! Do you have a video on making a book-case?
Lindo trabalho,e vc é muito animada e simpática.parabéns.
Computer table I’m thinking. Love it.
Definitely next on my list, looks great
thank you for content like this! you made it look very easy. I've never built anything before but have been wanting to. this video made it look less intimidating!
Thank you both for the video, I will be doing this build soon here, but planning on a modified touch to it. Love the Video, keep it up, great idea here, am sure there is more.
Thank you again
Brilliant love your channel, loads great ideas,
Omg. love, love ya'lls designs. This is what I'm hoping me and my baby start doing together when she gets outta jail. Even the name kills me, cuz it's spot on for us too :) Thanks alot
Thanks for watching and good luck on the future projects!
tommy gatten name kills u?
How do these pieces of furniture hold up with use? I notice you never use glue or clamps and I'm wondering how that affects their longevity
..probably okay considering they used nails when no craftsman would ever do that sort of thing
Using dovetail or box joints on the box with mortise and tendons on the legs and frame would insure this last multiple lifetimes with this version it's probably not super strong but usable
These won't last. The timber alignment has zero compensation for natural expansion and contraction; the nails are a very weak joint

Looks great!!! Just saw your kitchen DIY island and WoW!!! New subbie here!!!!
Love your videos. Would like to see a project sheet in the description box and also if you can speak in the videos. Thanks MaryAnn
Really enjoy your videos. Please do one for a 60" tv stand/ table
Great videos, nice and simple to follow for DIY beginners!
Love this project but I would have applied stain conditioner first so the stain could absorb more evenly? Or maybe paint it. Going to try to build this myself!
Thanks for this, I so enjoyed this step by step tutorial👌🏾👍🏾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks for watching!
Hello! really nice, i want to build it but the measurements dont aligne pretty well, can you please tell me if they are correct? example: with the 1 1/2" overhang, how will the 2x2 fit perfectly? great videos, im just starting to work with wood. Thanks
Rafael Gabriel Grullon Guzman I know your comment is over a year old lol but maybe it will help someone else. 2x2s are not actually 2 inches by 2 inches. they are more like 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches, if you measure them. That is why they fit perfectly :)
Thanx for sharing. Really good info. Will it work to only make the holes half thru the table if the table is 1.5 inches thick ???
Hi, This looks great! I think I might be able to make this even though I’m old as a rock! I’m wondering if I just made it using one 1x8 if it would be wide enough to stand alone as a sofa table? Not be too wobbly and fall over. I love your other builds too. You guys are such a cute couple! Very easy to understand tutorials.
