I actually met him in 2009. I was working at a parking structure in a wealthy suburb of Detroit (he probably was visiting family) and he walked up to my booth, asking as to whether or not he'd be too tall to walk in the car entrance as he was "7 foot 2" when it said that there was a "7 foot clearance". I didn't recognize him at the time and suggested that he stoop down to avoid any injury, but now I realize that was him. RIP to a legendary character actor.

Mr. Richard Keil is a gentle giant and a loving person...my grandfather told me that he met him and hangs out with Richard all the time...after the movies that he completed, they celebrate it happily, and my grandfather said that Richard isn't the guy who drinks Beers and gets drunk because my grandfather never ever sees him drinks beer, just wine, my grandfather said theres a time that Richard's friends dares him to drink a beer (after the movie "The Spy who Loves me") just once, and he did it but he mixed it with water, and my grandfather just smiles of how smart Richard is and how he avoids problems consuming his health
Thank You Mr. Richard Keil for being my and my grandfather's inspiration.

This is actually my first time watching this, and I really enjoyed it! Its crazy how tall he was, but the fact that it didn't stop him from playing in anything. It is a shame he passed away though. I never really watched any of the movies he was in and it feels like I am missing out on that. Someday I would like to start acting, Ive always wanted to since I was a kid, but you do have to live your life and when be hopeful that the time will come... so im hoping someday I will get there.

Richard Kiel should have been a leading man on television and later the movies. He had charisma and was actually a very good actor, sadly he was only marginalized as a sideshow oddity or a goon they could wheel out for comic effect.
I've had Richard's autobiography Making it Big in the Movies for over 2 decades along with many of his obscure movies. My favorite is 'Stuck on You' where he is "Mr.Eddie"

Having his size and looks makes it impossible to be regular leading man. Even less horrifying tall actors have had trouble finding roles. James Cromwell and Christopher Lee were such men.
As opposite being such brutish-looking actor gives lots of roles.
