Clint Howard is one of the few actors willing to work on a wide variety of films, be it the big screen or the small across many genres. What separates him from his brother and his niece is his ability to fit in every role he portrays.

One of my favorite roles Clint did was one he did with Rance Howard on Workaholics. Adam and Blake go on strike so their boss replaces them with Clint and Rance's characters. As soon as Clint gets in the cubicle shared with Rance and Adam and Blake's friend Anders he immediately goes "Ooh a computer. Any firewalls on this thing or am I...free to use my best judgement?" and then some time passes and he yells "Craigslist Casual Encounters blocked? What is this, fucking North Korea?" Other highlights include Rance rambling on about somebody from his church making all kinds of soups. I don't know why that Clint Howard role sticks out in particular. I think that's kind of the magic of Clint Howard, anybody's favorite role of his is completely legitimate cause he manages to leave such lasting impressions with the smallest of parts.

I saw Ice Cream Man in a special showing at Brew & View at the Vic in Chicago in the late 90s. He actually introduced the film. Brew & View specializes in showing second run cult films at that venue and the crowd went wild. It seemed like he had a good time and that was very happy making.

Somebody else has probably asked here, but why was there no mention of Clint's amazing role on Seinfeld? Was it a licensing thing? If so, that's a shame. His episode as the serial killer who Kramer is mistaken for is one of my favorites, and frankly, he's a scene-stealer. Absolutely hilarious. Also, his portrayal of Leon on Andy Griffith is the best, especially when he rats out Barney during his mannequin episode in the department store. Anyway, thanks for the great documentary for a well-deserving guy!

One of my favorite smaller Clint Howard roles is as a lackey in Fist of the North Star, costarring Dante Basco. There's a great scene where he's improvising while his character shoots at the public and he says "ooh, a baby!" (kablammo!) It had me laughing.

I was a kid in the 1960's & I first saw Clint Howard in Gentle Ben in prime time.
He looked "normal" as a kid but as he grew into an adult he looked "weird
& geeky & he used that to his advantage to play eccentric roles. Whether it's a lead or supporting role or a bit part he's always memorable. In 1981 I bought "Evilspeak" on video disk & I rented "Ice Cream Man" in the 90's. Clint Howard is so distinctive one of a kind & the true definition of a character actor. When they made Clint they broke the mold.

Awesome video. As you said, Ron Howard tries to get brother Clint into his movies. However, in “Willow” he had no part for him. Yet, Ron instructed the technicians at ILM - who did the special effects - to make the heads (faces) of the Dragon, the Ebersisk, resemble Clint’s. And there you are. Now, we shall drink the tranya.

My favorite role that I’ve seen was actually in a Law and Order episode. He was definitely a weirdo in it, but he wasn’t just a weirdo. He played it with some sincerity and heart. He even managed to be funny too despite the darker tone of the episode.

I worked on one of those straight to DVD films that Clint was in. I remember being at the craft service table and over the walkie talkie, I heard the AD announce "Picture's up.." I wasn't where I needed to be, so I immediately ran out the back door to my place and almost ran over Clint Howard. He looked am me, like, "what the hell!?" Sorry, Clint.
