Thank you for this video, that middle button above the led and below the scroll wheel was a mystery that Logitech failed to communicate in all their documentation and videos. I am now using this mouse and also the MX Vertical. This video earned a new subscriber!
OH I didn't know that's what the button did to change the wheel to free wheel! The free wheel drives me crazy & I almost returned the mouse. Thank you!
MacOS user here and long term review. Mine always had connectivity issues and tends to drop from time to time, more frequently nowadays. Beware that my unit always seems to drop in connection as if the mouse had restarted and the connection lights would flicker for a good 10 seconds almost every time I bumped it into something like my keyboard and even if it got lifted off the table when dragging and dropped back down.
I've used the MX Master 3 at work for almost 4 years. I recently bought a monitor and already had the MX Keys at home. I didn't want to but another MX3 so I bought a M720. I was blown away by what quality you're getting for $30-35. It's not up to par with the MX Master, but I would easily spend $50 on the 720 and not think twice about it.
Thank you for the long term review! I especially like the warning about the rubber coating. I have an old Logitech Marathon Mouse made before they started rubberizing them and it's still great, the only problem is the rubber strip on the scroll wheel is starting to lose its grip on my finger. I bought a new MX Master S3S and am worried it will not hold up over time. Every single device I have had with the stupid "Soft Touch" rubber coating on has turned into a mess over time, from TV remotes to cell phone back up charging banks, to a Food Saver food vacuuming system, they all wear ungracefully. Wish companies would stop using it, but then I guess they want people to replace the device once the fake "Premium" feel turns to garbage. It's cheap enough I suppose, but would rather not have to toss it in the trash just because of a poorly designed surface coating. Do you have any problems accidentally clicking the back, device switching button when trying to use the Back button?
yeah totally agree, it sucks for sustainability because you are capping the lifespan of the device unnecessarily. which is a shame because every other part of the mouse works perfectly! the accidental clicks happen at the start but your muscle memory adapts after a while! you can also just reprogram the buttons to do something less disruptive.
Logitech is definitely in the “it just works” camp like Apple, except their mice actually feel good to use. I don’t understand the Apple Magic Mouse’s ergonomics LOL
Good morning. If you want to clean that stickiness off your mouse, use baking soda and water, make a thick paste, rub in a circular motion for a few minutes until the stickiness disappears. Voila!
the m720 is a near perfect home/office mouse. one thing i'd like to add is its very quick bluetooth switching between devices. got this because of its unique feature in the market (even today 2023) having the rf/bluetooth switch button accessible via the thumb. allows me to 'quick-draw' switch between my work laptop and home PC in milliseconds. Other 2.4Ghz/bluetooth combo mice have their buttons underneath and so not as quick/handy to switch between devices. the dual mode hyperscroll wheel was the surprise feature I didn't know I was looking for. very handy for office and browsing! only real letdown is the clicker started failing after 2 years. still looking for a similar mouse with the same thumb-button wireless switcher that also has hyperscroll features.
@@PGBlanks i'm only a few days into using it. has a nice feel and the keys are kinda quiet maybe its slower than the m720 to switch between my stuff w/ flow but for my first BT office setup it was a steal @ 50% the price👌
this mouse is perfect for macbook indeed, I wish it has a silent click. I get used to M 331, and it's going to be weird I guess to not having silent cliec feature.
Thanks for letting me know about M331. I didn't actually realise how important silent clicks were to people, so in the future I will definitely highlight when something is silent or not!
Bro, nice review!! Just a question I am tying to decide between this mouse and the death adder hyperspeed razer; I am not gaming anymore but I have large hands, which one would you recommend me ? Thanks in advance.
Maybe I am unique in this regard, but it bothers me if something I hold in my hands poke my skin in anyway, like the seam of a phone case. The thing that makes me worry about this mouse is that device switch button. Its position seems to be where my palm skin between the thumb and the index finger would rest. Doesn't it poke the skin when you grab the mouse?
I dont think it will really poke at you that way, check out 2:38 for how my hand sits on the mouse. The edge of your thumb might touch the buttons though!
The MX master has bluetooth issues and the infinity scroll lags via bluetooth as well. It also doesn't have the full featured software of the logitech gaming mice. It's only redeeming benefits are the size being larger and the side scroll bar.
Can you give me some advice between this one and the 650L ? Dpi range is better there, i don r need to switch between devices fast... but I don't know about quality of materials and wheel reaction.
I think the M720 was about $55 or $60 when I built my PC in 2020, so I opted for the cheaper M705 at the time. I only use it with my home PC, and I use a very cheap compact Blackweb mouse that I got at Walmart 8 years ago on my work PC. But the Blackweb has been terrible lately, being stuttery and clicks holding when I only click once. The M720 can be bought for around $30-35 if you look around for deals, which is about what I paid for my M705. I think I'm going to pick up the M720 and ditch the Blackweb altogether since I can switch between PCs on the fly with the M720. I'll probably keep the M705 as a backup or take it to the office for use there since I won't want to leave my good mouse there all the time.
The dongle can pair to a specific channel (1, 2, or 3), so imagine you have dongle at 1, bluetooth device at 2, and another bluetooth device at 3. It is then a matter of just toggling them.
im looking for something smaller than the mx master 3 but larger than the mx anywhere 3. sadly this doesnt looks as good as either as the materials look like poor quality honestly, seeing how poor it ages. probably gonna get an mx anywhere.
This is the 3rd mouse I have bought in the last week. The first 2, a cosair iron claw gaming mouse, a razer v3 something and this one. NONE of the software for any of these mice will detect the mouse... I'm at wits end... I got the logitech triathalon today and the logioptionsplus program won't detect the mouse... it says turn off your device and then back on to connect... still no devices found...IDK.. windows sees it as a HID compliant mouse. This mouse setup used to be so simple... I can't program any of the buttons...this sucks..
Hi, there is also a Logitech M720 PRO. What is the difference between the M720 and the M720 PRO ?. BTW: i do have now the Logitech M705 works fine but, i want to upgrade. Do you or someone else knows the difference ? Thanks !
Best mouse for me is Logitech M510 mouse and use it all the time to illustrate with photoshop or illustrator, but some think I use a Wacom tablet, but actually it's that mouse but it is for those larger hands like me. I bought the Logitech K780 multi device keyboard to use with iMac and my Windows pc but for some reason blue tooth would not work with windows 10 so I returned that keyboard even though those keys are better than the MX keyboards key. Logitech should just provide 2 unifying receivers that way it ensures it will work on both computers so I could just use one keyboard, but since it did not work as advertised, I will stick to my old Logitech k800 keyboard.
I would say they are similar to other Logi mice, so yeah not silent. Check out this video if you want a clear sound comparison as I compared another mouse to the M720 ruclips.net/video/cgRVOM1MqVw/видео.html
great and well explained video 👍👍 Question: does anyone know of a logitech model that is re-chargeable with easy-switch on top or on the side and can pair with up to three devices ?
Thanks for the review! Considering this mouse for purchase. One thing I cannot figure out from internet is - can M720 buttons be configured to act differently in different apps? ? I've seen on many videos similar picture to yours: ruclips.net/video/l7NOj6GxPUg/видео.html - where "All Applications" in the top right corner (in Logitech Options software) is "greyed out". This makes me think that M720 does not support "App Specific Settings"... Can you please clarify if "App Specific Settings" are supported via Logitech Options software for M720? Another question: As you own M720 and K780 and use them together - to switch between devices do you need to click on "change device" button on both M720 and on K780? Or can you press just on device change button on K780 - but M720 will automatically change to the same "device number" automatically? Thank you indeed
Hi there! Thanks for watching my video. I just tried it and YES it can be configured to have different button mappings depending on the app. I just tried configuring to be forward/back buttons on Google chrome but screenshots anywhere else, and it worked within seconds!
On your second question, I've always needed to change device separately on my M720 and K780, haven't figured out how to switch them simultaneously. But for me it helps that I just assign buttons 1/2/3 to the same things.
Great video! I bought this a few months ago and feels great! The issue I have with mine is that it's 'skipping on my mac, running OSMonterey v12.6.3. Any ideas why this might be happening? New sub, and thank you!
Never mind, I just re-watched your video and found out I pressed the wrong button for the mouse to be discovered by BluTooth. It now works, thanks to you! Thank you so much!
Had it bundled with the k850 and it is great. Love how grippy it is. It's their best "M" series mouse. However, is having side scrolling on the wheel worth having a supper wobbly scroll wheel? Also the scroll mode switching is functional but waaaaaay worse compared to my mx anywhere 3. But hey it's cheaper I plan to mod mine to have silent switches and maybe (?) fix the wobliness, making it a M331 deluxe😂😂
@@MrMarcec85 that's a fairly new one and I haven't tried it yet. I have tried the auto-switch-to-smooth scroll function on my MX anywhere 3 and it's pretty nice once you've tweaked the sensitivity settings to suit you and I haven't used the manual switch button for quite some time now. The scroll switch on the M720 is not really a button but mechanical latch(?) and the wheel is pretty wobbly but that helps with the tilt-to-side-scroll function. M650 has a magnetic Smartwheel but doesn't have a manual mode switch button, it's all automatic. If you can manage to handle both physically in a store that would be best so you can decide which shape, grip, and scroll switching function you'd prefer.
