    Excellent video, mate! I tried the MX Mini Mech and K3 Pro and it was no contest. K3 Pro all the way. The low profile Gateron blues made all the difference. The Mini Mech’s keys felt mushy and slow in comparison. The K3 also cost $65 less!

    My biggest issue with the Keychron boards is that the backlight doesn't shine through the stock keycaps. Of course I could just switch them out, but honestly I'm not willing to go through the time and the extra expense of finding a new set of key caps. I honestly don't understand why Keychron would include a backlight in the first place if their keycaps are just going to defeat the whole purpose.

    • @CinceTheDay
      @CinceTheDay Год назад +4

      my biggest issue is that they're calling those caps "double shot PBT" which in my opinion is (even if it's true) misleading and probably done to hide another disadvantage.
      first of all PBT is good. it usually feels much better as ABS it doesn't wear of (big ABS problem) and it does not get shiny (big problem on all keychron ABS caps)
      so you basically want PBT
      but you also want (like I do) shining letters for night use.
      here is one thing PBT lacks and that's the ability to be transparent.
      so usually what's done here is to combine PBT and ABS so the things you want to be transparent (like the letters) are cut out of the top PBT layer for the light to shine through the ABS that fills the void underneath it.
      so even if they double shot the caps they're doing it with two non-transparent layers so there is no use in mentioning it in the first place
      now the part that's even worse: those customers who do put in the effort of replacing the caps are (literally) faced with the very disappoint reason for keychron's non-transparent choice.
      soutfacing LED - don't even let me get started on that.

      Awesome! Do you also have wrist rest with it? I ordered mine yesterday with blue switches and many reviewers mentioned just how tall it is, so I also paired it with the official wallnut wrist rest. I don't like the fact that the keys are not shine through, so I also ordered black topped Steelseries prism PBT caps to go along with it to really make the RGB lights shine.
      Not sure if the blues are going to be something I can handle for the long run (hopefully they don't just end up annoying me), but I've been using cherry browns for the past 6 years and I'm tired of them at this point. I wanted something more clicky and I tried some other blue switches in local electronic stores - I was blown away with the sound and feel.
      Seeing the other Gateron switch options, I would really like to try greens also. They are heavier and the click seems very nice with them. But I'll have to see, this is the beauty with hot-swappable switches though. :D Would be nice to try reds too, so maybe I'll buy those also at some point.

    I bought the K2 Pro and have problems for which I cannot find solutions. The biggest problem is that the Windows logo key will not function. I have searched for solutions and tried everything I could find. I updated the firmware and driver, I did a factory reset. It may be that the Windows key is simply locked, but I cannot find that function key on this keyboard, which is the other problem I have with it: several function keys that I use frequently are missing (or maybe just hidden, but I can't find any support material that helps with this thing). I'm frustrated enough at this point to get rid of it and buy a Logitech.

    I was debating the K2 Pro or Asus Azoth, I ended up going with the Azoth for my gaming PC. I got Blue switches and I have to say I'm very impressed with the Azoth, its got all the K2 Pro features but also has more damping and faster wireless. Yea it has an OLED screen as well but that doesn't do much for the typing experience. It's so quite the blues sound like browns. I may still get the K2 Pro for my Mac Studio as moving back to more of a normal, non low-profile keyboard, that Apple keyboard stays right now just for the fingerprint scanner. I did get the K2 Keychron wrist rest because it's closest to the size of the Azoth. I'm switching from a G915 TKL which is the gaming version of the MX Mechanical. It's been great but after a couple of year I have no visible letters on the keycaps and no real replacement options. I guess technically I don't need them but we all look down from time to time. Thank you for this review... definitely leaning towards picking up a K2 now as well! I may be strange but I like to switch my keyboard out from time to time just to change things up... odd I know.

    Received my K8 pro ANSI and I am disappointed that although it has rgb backlight you cant see key characters in the dark. The keycaps are not shine through. One may ask, why notbuy alternative keycaps? I did, however I discovered that the south facing LEDSs hardly shine through the typical north facing keycaps (hyperx pudding in this case) to show the characters...and south facing keycaps? well, good luck finding those.

    • @PhazonBlaxor
      @PhazonBlaxor Год назад

      Is it really that big of a problem? I saw a picture with K8 Pro with Steelseries Prism caps (which are basically higher quality versions of the HyperX Pudding caps) and they seemed just fine. Somebody asked the person who posted the picture about this also, and they said while what's bright enough is highly subjective, they had no problems with it at all.

    Meh, sticking with my G915 Tenkeyless. Has both 2.4Ghz and BT, and much easier to use simultaneously with two computers. Has useful backlighting, where it actually helps you see the letters in dark environment. It feels great, battery charge lasts forever.

    I've got a K10 (I'm an accountant, I need a number pad) and it's really just okay. The legend on the keycaps is illegible unless the backlight is on (an easy fix, but annoying) and the battery only lasts about two and a half workdays while using the backlight. Plus, this is actually my second K10--the first one died after just over two weeks after I stared using it. Keychron was great about replacing it, so that's great at least. I'm actually thinking about getting an MX mechanical to replace the K10--Logitech hardware just feels better, and the battery life alone is probably worth it.

    The "Pro" Keychron keyboards have one big gotcha - if you need to use the keyboard in low light you're SOL. You can't just buy another set of keycaps, because the "Pro" series uses south-facing LEDs - so they won't work with the majority of keycaps (I've tried, it's been pretty disappointing). There are south-facing keycaps that are available but the better ones have the characters printed on the side of the keycaps - leaving the tops blank - so the problem goes from stupid to super-retarded. It's been very frustrating and disappointing to order a "Pro" Keychron keyboard to find out I can't effectively use a basic feature that comes on cheaper keyboards.
    If you need shine-through keycaps - get the non-pro versions of the Keychron keyboards, they use north-facing LEDs.

    the big problem with the logitech is the price. it needs to be priced at $100. its too expensive. and brands like logitech, razer, rog and others price their products too high and it wasn't really an issue when they had no other competition besides eachother, but now there are other brands out there with similar or better products for less money.

    I got a K8 (office keys) , it looks and feels solid (well so far anyway, lets see in the long run), but for a "good" keyboard it makes me do a very large amount of typing mistakes. It is just the way the keyboard is, it just makes you accidentally press the wrong keys when you type fast. Also I got a feeling keychron's way of promoting these is via those youtubers and there is a bit nasty promotion tactics. I tried to post a 3 star review on their web site (due to the typing mistakes this keyboard makes you do) but it was silently rejected. Then I noticed they don't have not 1 single review below 4 stars.
    So ... don't believe the hype.

    I will echo the goodness of the K Pro keychron line. For wired, the V series is also a high value budget line worth checking out. You get the essentials of a higher end typing experience, but without the frills that don't doesn't directly add anything to the typing experience. If you are starting out, getting a K or V series and maybe mod with different keycaps or switches down the road to your own taste
    One other low profile keyboard worth checking out is NuPhy Air, specifically the Air 96 which can be ordered with newly designed Gateron switches. These have a higher degree of travel for a more tactile feel. The keyboard has the thinnest low profile keycaps available. I am a NuPhy user and I just love it.
