  • This scooter came to us to confirm that the transaxle had broken and the customer decided not to repair it. This gives me a great opportunity the see what happened and if i can repair, replace or scrap the scooter. Watch out for the other video of me stripping down this style of transaxle.

    Hey Ian my names josh I'm 27 and live in Florida. I've watched multiple videos trying to gain as much knowledge as possible about the mobility medical services such as scooter, power chairs, lifts etc... I've recently just got into working with my brother in law down in Florida with 2 mobility stores. I'm super motivated, any tips for the trade? Is there anything would tell your younger self when you first started that you would do differently? Thanks for your time Ian hope you and wife are doing well and business' is good.

      Hey Josh, my best advice to you would be, methodical, take your time and look over whatever you are working on as you can easily skip over something especially when you run across something that you haven't seen before. With scooters and power chairs always questions the customer about how they use, store and charge the scooter, this could help you with diagnosing a problem.
      Finally, what I would change... you can't fix everything.
      Sometimes asking the basic questions like "when did you last charge your batteries", "when did you last change your batteries" "is the brake disengaged" and "is the charger unplugged" can save you a lot of time and wasted journeys if you do house calls.
      Good luck my friend and any questions we are only an email or phone call away.

    Superb stuff! Have you ever changed the brushes on a m4 7um motor? I don't see any access to them on this Shoprider Cameo I've got.

    • @lasvegasscooterslifts
      @lasvegasscooterslifts  Год назад +1

      Thanks bud. I've changed brushes on a Victory motor in the past and also repair wiring to a mot on a Go-Go before too. The Cameo (UK) looks a lot like the Shoprider Dasher here in the US and uses a Pihsiang motor. Normally to take apart a motor you would remove the brake and unscrew the two Philips head screws and then remove the top and bottom to access the brushes. Make sure to mark the case and top and bottom portions so you orientate it back together correctly. I would just replace the motor if it's bad if it was for a customer's scooter.

    Hi lan i,ve got a go go sport had a dodgey battery gauge brought one from a pride colt new batteries but gauge only goes to last but one green light but when on charge all lights lit
    Tested voltage shows 26v when not charging but last light not lit is gauge buggered🤔

    • @lasvegasscooterslifts
      @lasvegasscooterslifts  Год назад

      Hey Dave, Hmmm, I have seen some of the new ambient volt gauges (light sensing) not be calibrated correctly but normally they go down to quickly rather than not illuminate all the green lights when the scooter is not moving. Make sure you charge the batteries fully without interrupting the charge and try it again. If you still getting one missing green light then yes it could be either a bad gauge, something draining the power or a bad battery. Get the batteries load tested to rule them out also the gauge from the colt might be calibrated defiantly to the lower AH of the sport but I've never seen that before. let me know what you find out.

    Have you ever tried putting a LX transaxle motor in a EX? It seems like you could. The controller would probably have to change. I heard the LX end is more robust.

    • @lasvegasscooterslifts
      @lasvegasscooterslifts  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Kurt, no I have not. Are talking about the Pride LX? if so, the old-style trans is one of the most repeated broken transaxles I've seen come though my shop. As for the new style Linix style I've seen nothing as of yet but It's still early since they made the change. If you are talking about the Golden LX then it would all come down to mounting position at the ends of the transaxle and clearance to weather it would fit. You are correct with the controller, that might have to be changed if the motor is larger on the LX compared to the EX as you would probably get a buking effect from the motor. I've tried it on a Pride before, putting a larger Traveller plus back-end on a Go-Go Traveller front, it was like riding a rodeo bull. Funny but not safe for your grandma 🤣
