Another great video Calv. I have to say I'm a real fan of power - less is more. Getting into a car with less power gives you the opportunity to explore its limits without necessarily breaking the law. Being able to rag a car in every gear and making bends and corners at high revs is awesome. I had an M140i and got rid of it because I couldn't have fun with it. On British roads it was too fast. Fun to 60 but that was it. There's no substitute for working the nuts off a car, getting out of it and feeling like you've really driven it.
Hey mate! I know this is an old comment but was wondering if you could expand on this experience ? I’m about to purchase my first ‘proper’ fast car in a few months, and the M135i is what I’ve been looking at for the longest time. But this post seems to resonate with me as I’ve been in faster cars and found myself just hitting the breaks too often.. contemplating that the focus of ‘joy’ over ‘figures’ (in terms of BHP, stats, etc) is more intelligent if you’re simply after a wicked experience.. I’ve had mates telling me to look at GTIs, Cupras & VXRs instead & now seeing your comment after randomly searching ‘GTI’ has got me thinking further
Cracking motor that is. The Mrs used to have mk4 gti she loved it. Old School hockenheim style wheels all day long as a wheel choice 👍👍 As ever top informative video 👍👍
@@itsallrobbish I know they are quicker for sure and as for rot if they are anything like the Mrs mk4 they'll have no sills left or baked been tin sills as a repair 🤣 she had a mk4 2litre GTi an it just ate fuel. Always said to her to get a 1.8 turbo so I could play an tune it but she came back with a 2 litre 🤣 she loved it either way 👍
The mk5 Golf GTI, such a great car Calvin. I owned one for 3 years and loved it. Changed it for a Mk7 Golf R but still miss the Mk5. Pound for pound bargain.
The steaming up inside looks like water is making its way into the cabin either from the sunroof drains or the rear vents hidden behind the rear bumper or sometimes from the scuttle. Easy fix if you need to sort it.
Calvin I've owned 7 vw golf gtis. 1 x A Reg Campaign mk1 1.8 8v Gti. Had in 1995, but got stolen and burnt out. 1 x W Reg mk1 1.6 gti later 1.8 engine fitted with full Zender body kit. Had from 95 to 96. 1 x E Reg mk2 1.8 8v Oak Green Campaign Gti, with single window in front doors. Plus Big bumper conversion. Had from 96 to 97. 1 x J Reg 1.8 8v gti last of era mk 2s, with power steering etc. Although some rare K reg models around. Oak Green. 2001 to 02. 1 x G Reg mk 2 2.0ltr racing 16v conversion, 165bhp gti. Monza Blue. 2002 to 2004. 1 x Mk 3 N Reg 2.0 gti. Hated it, sold after 12 hours. Should've got highline VR6. Had 2009 1 x Mk 4 02 reg, V5 2.3 170bhp gti in Red. Had 2015 to 2017. All my gtis near the Mk 3, Had loads of work done. All with full competition sound systems (esp the Red Mk 1, and 2nd OAK Green Mk 2 on J Reg). I've yet to own an Mk5. If it a dsg Would you swap my Audi for it (shame it a manual), I'd be then I'm on target to own each mk. The Audi I have has the mk5 R32 engine in. So I can say its a kind of mk 5. But that 08 looks great. In 5 yrs after loan. Then bmw choices I planned. Or mk 6 or 7 Golf R. Love the channel Calvin. Always look forward to your next posts etc.
Great vid. Had my mk5 for just over 2 years. Needed a five door and these have always had a good all rounder reputation. Again I was suprised how quick it was considering on paper and by today's standards its not.
Used to have a Mk5 golf loved it but had to get rid of as I started to struggle getting in and out of it,I have a spinal condition (Ankylosing Spondylitis) and needed to get something higher off the ground, will be entering to try and win yours Calvin, would love to relive some memorys of ours. Keep doing what your doing buddy love watching your channel.
I only know about Rotiform's thanks to our FitmentIndustries boys lol. I reckon those ZMO-M's would look banging. The edge gives off a rally-style vibe while the spokes give me old skool TSW vibes. Yeah you can't go wrong with the BSS OEM style ones, and the standard multi-spokes, but this Golf has little extras that make it unique, and I reckon it deserves a unique wheel to go with.
I just got rid of my Stage 2 R-Tech remapped MK5 GTi, it was a 5 door 05 plate, it dyno’d at 280bhp & it was rapid, I loved it. I now have a 2017 Vw Golf R as I have always wanted an R. Nice Car Calvin, I wouldn’t say no to that if I won it 🤞
I've never owned a Golf GTI, but I did drive my brother's when he owned one in the 1990s and I was really impressed by it. Personally, I think the no.5 black wheels will look great with that lovely blue. Only recently found and subscribed to your channel, so I'm still catching up on all your great videos 👍
I've had the edition 30 golf Calvin and I now have the Seat leon cupra K1 and I'm hands down a golf gti man, but the cupra is a far better car on the road, handling is far better which helps putting 382 bhp to the floor 👍
i had the 2007 Seat leon FR which shared the exact same spec motor as the Golf 5 gti it was cheaper and i really enjoyed the car was nimble and styling was unique and was less common than the golf this is a good example especially being untouched under the hood which is rare i would hands down choose the leon cupra over the gti as it has the s3 spec motor and the styling once again is appealing im probarly late with this comment as the whhel must have been chosen but i would have chosen Wheel No 6 in 18inch
Great looking motor Calvin, think the performance in that weather was pretty impressive. Nice colour too. Great giveaway car mate. Your a good person giving away all your RUclips funds from 2021.
Typical golf with the condensation 😂 love the Mk5 though. The whistle noise from the exhaust because of the back box delete is no good, a proper exhaust and back box is much better on a turbo car and will be effecting performance.
Paid £800 for same year but 1.4s with 88k tuned with a years MOT, good quiet cars but you’ve gotta turn ESP off to have fun Edit: Drinks fuel and can see the needle going down
Thats quick especially on crap tyres and wet roads, number 2 or 6 for the wheels I think mate I'd love to win it honestly its going to look 👌 with new boots
i hope your ok/well,,its amazing condition petrol 200 bhp golf gti for the year, its a nice dark blue colour ,it runs very nice,i love all your videos .there all cool great cars you give away,, all the best ,,take care,,stay safe Cal m8
I've seen a lot of these on Marketplace 140,000'ish miles...for between £2,795...to...£2,995...Nice cars still. The fuel-price now for petrol, and mpg, I'd say diesel's the way to go till 2025 at least....
You Can't get a legit mot on the golf policeman car with the xenon headlights without the headlamp washers fitted behind the bumper moulding strips which are not fitted on this car wouldn't bother me but just saying..
Man, I think most of us here had wet dreams when we were younger about these cars, looks really nice even today. Btw is the hood and front bumper painted or it’s the camera/video? Edit: Or maybe ppf?
I’d definitely go for the GTi all day long. They’ve got so much more character and better fun to drive, but then again I’m biased as I own a mint one 😂

I’ve got a 2 door dsg and it is so much fun, the value of these has to increase they’re brilliant little cannons. So stable at high speeds
I love how you appreciate less expensive old cars even though you can afford latest and greatest. Respect.

🤣 enjoy mate
Sounded like a high pitch tone under load, check the DV for rips, that is what causes the sound usually
Cracking motor that is. The Mrs used to have mk4 gti she loved it. Old School hockenheim style wheels all day long as a wheel choice 👍👍 As ever top informative video 👍👍
I loved the old school hockenhein R Alloys. Locked the mutts Nutts on a mk 2.
These Mk 5s are a lot quicker, though. I wanted one, but I’m sure they’re supposed to corrode a lot quicker than the Mk4s.

In Northern Ireland that would be a 6k car currently....5k in England definitely....the silver lock on glove box is standard on GTI

A problem with most golfs it seems every one I’ve owned always steamed up like that
@@neilstewart2036 yes unfortunately seals fail on the rear vent etc. i just fixed mine in my R32 and no more condensation! Happy days

How comes left exhaust looks darker than the right exhaust- just wondering whether it’s meant the be like that
Think they forgot to clean the carbon out of both 🤣
What hpi app do you use to enable you to check the optional extras?
Pure genuine guy Calvin much respect to you wish you nothing but the best
Top man hail hail
Thanks mate 🙏🏼🙌
Just purchased my no.5 2006 model … very great car powerful as well
Great GTI brilliant order for 16years old, i'd rather have the Golf than Leon even on the age the Golf looks better and ages better.
Its amazing that 16 years ago you could get such a nice car new for £22grand . Now cars are madness new prices miss my mk5 gti

The whistle noise from the exhaust because of the back box delete is no good, a proper exhaust and back box is much better on a turbo car and will be effecting performance.
What's the name of the upgraded rear lights please?
Calvin.. is the GTI blowing through 1 exhaust only?? Because the left exhaust seems to be heavier used than the right??
Is it me or does that turbo on spool up sounds like it's on its way out ?
What's the black Audi with the silver front spliter in your yard? Looks interesting
I’d have the GTI all day what a great car!! Keep up the great work Cal love your vids!!
You sure it's a GTI this time? Haha
Check the exhaust - 1 pipe working haha
Nice. Gonna come see u soon....
What app you using for HPI
Beautiful car. Still think the mark 5 is the best golf GTI. Colour is really nice too. Fingers crossed 🤞 .
Does only one of the twin pipes work?

You can mod these like there is no tomorrow, k4 turbo it, map it and upgrade brakes and suspension...
I've the equivalent in vRS Octavia 2006
Mo did lots of nice little bits to the car , wonder why he never had it mapped? Had mine done a while back, makes a good car even better
Not sure if to get the carbon wing mirrors for my GTI. Same colour GTI as well :D
Calvin the old mk4 had the 1.8 turbo option bam job but the mk5 I'm guessing 2.0 tfsi ?
Wheels, 2 are nice, I like 5 but not a fan of black wheels. Oldskool 3 would look top!
Cracking podcast Calv brilliant content as usual pic 2 for the rims mat
Picked up a 3 door shadow blue mk5 gti dsg calv, no sunroof though!
Really liking this car. And the extra uploads this week.
Those tail pipes let that car down imo,you can clearly see one is just for show hence the colour difference
Most cars have a pipe which is darker than the other my golf r the inside pipes are darker than the outside ones.
Mk5 gti golf turbo need one how do i order it
calv man, I literally binge watch all your videos 😂😂😂 calv >> Netflix
This or a honda civic fn2 i dont know what to choose
5,black alloys super cool and there will look great on the golf GTI
Thats quick especially on crap tyres and wet roads, number 2 or 6 for the wheels I think mate I'd love to win it honestly its going to look 👌 with new boots
Why is one exhaust tip perfectly clean inside?

You serious dude ? It's a GTI.
Tfsi vs diesel or na petrol, the tfsi has nice grunt low down but revs out nicely too
I hope that’s a joke!!
Ronal R41 in Matt black ain’t a bad choice either 👍
Why do these always steam up inside when it rains? Always see VAG cars of this era all steamed up on the roads of the UK!
Such a fresh looking example, who ever gets that will definitely be blessed.

That is an awesome blue colour. Love it. Nice car. Great vlog as always !
