I'm getting so excited about this show! We haven't discussed Kat yet (I'm going to call her Katherine cause it's too confusing), but she's so pretty and super close to my OG fancast of Danielle Panabaker. I think I'm the most excited for Magnus! WHO ARE THEY GONNA GET TO PLAY THAT ROLE. Magnus transcends all Shadowhunter books, they have to get someone who's super adaptable if they ever plan on tying in the other story lines.

It's kinda hard for me to picture Katherine as Clary. Cuz I've seen her in those Disney movies and TV shows and she usually plays the mean and snobby person or the antagonist.
I still can't get over how perfect Izzy is. I mean, Izzy from the movie was nothing like what she was described in the books (I mean, OK pale skin, black hair...STOP... SHE. WAS. NOT. IZZY.). But tv Izzy... Oh my god, where do I even start.

I don't know, I just kind of hate Kat as Clary, it seems like she's really unprepared for the role of Clary and her acting skills are kind of meh, she's like a really immature version of Clary

me!! haha i am really not over the fact that the ending was horrible and now i am seeing all this comments of people who had super high expectetions for the show. I watched the show and fell in love with the shadow world so i started to read the books cause i need a better ending for clace, also even tho the books are nothing like the show, it is super enoyable
Okay so, I really liked Clary and Izzy but... Simon.
Oh God.
When it was announced that Alberto was going to play Simon, I couldn't believe it. I didn't want to, because he was nothing what I imagined. He wasn't my Simon (and Simon is my favorite TMI character I love him so much)
But then I realised that the problem was: He. Was. Not. Robert. Sheehan.
I mean, Robbie will always be my Simon, but unfortunately he won't be the one that will play Simon Lewis in Shadowhunters.
So, after hours and hours of chatting with myself (Yes, I speak with myself, so what?) I said: "Leila. Get over it. He's your new Simon."
Now I understand that.
So I'm willing to give Alberto a chance. Who knows? Maybe he will even surprise me.
(I hope he does, I really really do)

I'm on the verge of crying (sarcastically) over the fact they didn't cast an Alec with blue eyes.. I mean Herondale blue eyes? The captivating eyes that caught Magnus' attention in the first place??? gr

It's just.. they made HUGE changes dude. Like Luke is a cop!? I mean im sorry.. Isiah i love ya Old Spice but i dont see him bringing out Luke's sensitivity (which is the only reason Joselyn falls for him) with him being a cop out of all things. Simons an accounting student (HA) the band is GONE. And they probably wont even have accents! (They grew up in Alicante until they were like 10 and they have virtually no contact with humans.. so it makes sense). See huge changes that ive accepted but then they go and make small changes to things that matter! Its just ugh

They do have a band. And they didn't grow up in Alicante. The light woods grew up in New York because Maryse and Robert were punished by the clave sort of. And you have to understand, they have to make changes in the TV show. If they made everything exactly like the book, the series would be very boring and slow paced. There isn't enough material in the first book for a 13 episode first season. If you go into the show making a big deal out of every change , you won't end up liking it. I think as long as they are following the main plot line, and don't change anything too drastic, the show will be awesome
Yeah I said they in my rant but I meant Jace, I have no credible reason why the Lightwood kids would other than isolation but seeing as how they're going to be a non caucasian family they probably wont have british accents
I was kinda upset with Clary because I liked LillY Collins, but I've seen Kat act and she is a good actress. I'm going to go with the flow and just see how the whole T.V. show goes. 😄 I guess it doesn't matter as long as Alec is hot, even if he is going to be gay it'd be nice to see him looking hot😍👌😂
I really like who was casted for Sizzy but I HATE who was casted for Clary. I don't think she's Clary at all...
It especially doesn't make sense for Jace to be sporting the Uni-Bomber look since he's invisible to normal humans isn't he?
Simon is my favorite character & I wasn't happy with the casting until Alberto posted the videos on facebook thanking everyone wearing Simons glasses. His voice is perfect. I loved Robbie but I think he's going to be great.

Don't worry about the accent of Emeraude! haha she is latina but also she was born and raised in USA so obviusly she has an american accent ;) haha
I always imagined Clary a bit frail looking, skinny but not in the cury and beautiful way, lots of freckles, kinda cute but awkward looking, a bit slouchy, red messy hair in a loose ponytail, a skinny pale face, anf just someone whos not to beautiful but an ordinary person. But i guess that actress works too.
It's funny because my thoughts on the casting is exactely like yours! I love every actor but I had some problem with Simon just because of my love for Robert! I'm so nervous for Magnus and Alec, though! But I feel like if they managed to make such on-point castings of the other four, I'm sure they'll make a great job of Malec too!
Also I have mixed feelings for the T.V show because I fell in love with all the actors from the movie and I agree with you on the Rob thing. The guy is cute but not Rob cute.

I really like the casted Izzy, but if she's Latina, then they have to make Alec latina because they're siblings, and how are they going to do the blue eyes? That's key to the Malec relationship, and the Malec relationship is key to everything, so............
And, Gabriel and Gideon were English. They were descended from Gabriel and Gideon. I don't know. Overthinking it.

So I like you Christine I look up esmeraude toubia on IMDB and HOLY FUCKING SHIT SHE WAS A CONTESTANT ON NUESTRA BELLEZA LATINA!! Basically its the Mexican version of America's next top model except with more beauty peagent elements than high fashion editorials. They do have to act on the show so maybe she has chops, ill give her the benefit of the the doubt. But i should warn you that spanish soap operas (at least the ones from México) are total crap. But hey lets hope for the best!

I love the casting for Clary, Izzy, Alec, Raphael and Jocelyn. They all look EXACTLY like their characters and I think they're going to do a great job. I'm not really sure about Dominic Sherwood but I'm willing to give him a chance. Alberto looks the part of Simon pretty well but I think Robert Sheehan was way better :(. But I think Alberto will be a good Simon so :) Valentine was a surprise, I never pictured Luke like that and Magnus was a complete let-down. He didn't at all seem like Magnus, not like Godfrey Gao did. He really got the Magnus thing down

This video was made a year ago but the way you felt about the Simon casting was how I felt about the casting for the Flash in the upcoming Justice League movie because I was like "No no no you aren't Grant Gustin!" but i'm really excited now
I'm with you Christine! My favorite movie cast people were Simon and Magnus and so it took me a little getting used to Alberto but he's not a bad actor (the fandom has dug up some videos of him acting) and his enthusiasm got me. I also keep in mind that they are 18 and in college now, not 16 y/o in high school so that makes me see him as a more mature version of Simon... Ya know, after he decided to work out a bit to up his game with the ladies and for his band image XD

Being older than people is not fun. I think Kat looks more like what I though Clary would like too. I think her casting is perfect. When I first saw the Simon casting I wasn't thrilled, but after watching his video and the pics of him as Simon I think he's going to be really good! I think Izzy is going to be great too.

Cassie explained in the Shadowhunter Codex that Idris is right in between where france, switzerland and germany meet. But I dont understand why you want them to have english accents? They live in New York, they should have american accents. But thats just my opinion.

Cassie explained that she also wanted them to have English accents because she wanted to emphasize the fact that they weren't like regular new yorkers; somewhere in the CoHF, she wrote that people from Idris have a subtle accent

I've only seen Kat Mcnamara in Girl vs. Monster, so I don't love her but I don't really have any opinions on her acting just yet. Yeah, a different Simon. A different Clary. I wasn't so sure about Izzy at first, but I'm warming up to her.

Books are so cool because in real life your not going to find out your a long lost shadow hunter or that your a vampire or that your special or the chosen one. In the real world all you haer is screw you then your on drugs or alchohol and people are just goanna ignore you but in a book you can connect on different levels.

I wrote a story on FanFaction.com on the book Vampire Academy and got 15,000 views. It helps reading and writing. I write like 10,000 words a day, my dreams to become an Author, and it's really cool cause I just want to say your my inspiration, when ever I need to find a good book I see what your reading, whenever I need a good laugh I go and watch your blogs or whatever you've posted. I never doubt your word on a story. I don't really have many friends but as long as I have my books and computer that I write on, it's all good. And just wanted to say my older sis doesnt have a laptop and I said I wanted a new one next year, my sister said I already had one, but my dad said getting me one would be an investment. Lol

I'm so excited to see the casting for Alec and Magnus. All the others have been pretty good so far.
I'M SO EXCITEDDDDDDD OMGGGGGGGG AJEOIRAJEIWORJKALWEKFDAOLDF When I saw Izzy I was like OMG SHE'S SO FREAKING PERFECT. SERIOUSLY SHE'S ALMOST EXACTLY HOW I PICTURED THAT WOMAN. Then Simon I wasn't sure until I saw the glasses and I was like OMG HE LOOKS SO GOOOOOOOOD. Personally Robert Sheehan wasn't how I imagined Simon but I loved him anyway he worked well I think this guy looks more like how I imagined Simon but idk. DOM IS PERFECT FOR JACE AND KAT LOOKS SO FREAKING PRETTY WITH RED HAIR! I really hope they can all act because that will make things so good. 13 episodes I think they could make it a book per season, or even two books per season. It's not like they aren't lacking in source material there are so many shadowhunter books so they could do 2 books a season and I'd be fine with it. I really hope they don't just do only TMI for this series and do the other offshoots as well because I think that would be fun.

Honestly, I prefer the City of Bones cast over the Shadowhunters cast (except for Valentine and Isabelle), but as you said, "Give them a chance." My name is Isabelle, and I preferred the City of Bones actress, but I love this Isabelle too (Well, Duh. I have too). I LOVE TMI/TID!!! Are you excited for Lady Midnight that comes out March 8th?!?! I just finished reading CoHF last night. As I was reading the last few chapters, I had tears streaming down my face, and in my head, I was screaming, "SIMON!!!!!" But then everything got resolved.

I completely agree with all of your thoughts! I'm really excited about everyone. At first I was a little eh about Simon, but I saw his little video and I think he is going to be great! I AM SO EXCITED!!!
Oh, and by the way, I am pretty sure that Emeraude Toubia is 5'9". That is pretty close to the 5'11" that Izzy is in the books!
