Call me the odd man out, but I really prefer Kat over Lily as Clary. Kat's acting may not be perfect, but she really does portray Clary with the right insecurities and awkwardness. I think anyone out in her situation would be acting the same way, lost, confused etc etc. Lily on the other hand, even when she acts, she just oozes confidence, and even portraying someone like Clary, she tries to act vulnerable, but it just doesn't come across. Especially with her and Jemima, she seemed more HBIC than Jem. Though I love Lily, Kat is more Clary to me.
SAME!!! I thought I'd be the only one who's like I prefer Kat... And ur absolutely right I watched the movies so many times and though Lily is awesome she still has this whole air of confidence to her but Kat's like 'eh, I'm aight' and has this whole thing going on that makes her think she's not as good as Izzy and Alec and Jace. But to be fair, they've been training since they could run. So I really do prefer Kat as Clary, though Lily does make a pretty good Clary

I actually really love the guy they casted as Luke, he's the perfect balance of hot and looking like he can do the whole warm paternal figure thing.
Tiffany Jenks I am too dude, more so with the fact that he's an NYPD detective, because that just doesn't fit Luke's personality. I get that it'll bring a lot more to the show and open new doors, but I'm a stickler for detail
It seems weird that he's a detective, I mean like yeah I guess it makes sense with the pack's hideout but the bookstore is so important to his personality!
I think she's cute and beautiful but strangely I see her more like a vampire than a shadowhunter (i know, that's weird) But I'm excited to see her in the tv show, I cannot wait fjkdfnbjdfbvdoif

I hate change, and I get Lily Collins is more of the "movie scene" girl, but I really would love her as Clary forever and always, especially when I imagined her as lily Collins while reading the books. But looking at your red hair and characteristics, I thought that you'd make a perfect clary.

Reem Alomari NO DON'T READ THE INFERNAL DEVICES FIRST! I mean, you can... but you only really need to before you read the last book. My friend read the entire TMI series first and she still had no idea what the situation was going to be.
Defiantly read them!! But read the TMI books 1-5 then the devices trilogy and then do CoHF

I'm really excited about this whole T.V show. I think they've done a really good job casting the characters and I completely agree that the fandom needs to stop complaining, we haven't seen them portray the characters yet so we can't judge them. I think the fandom is just really judgmental at the moment since we did get a movie but everyone just needs to be more understanding. P.S I love your hair
i have to admit when i first saw her with blonde hair i thought they did a bad choice casting her but seeing all the pictures with her natural red hair i feel like she will make a wonderful clary, she fits soo well :)

I watched the series . I'm disappointed now half of the cast really can't act especially Kat and Matt.I wish they made movies on TMI. I miss Lilly and Jamie as clary and jace .they were perfect .😩

Wasn't that the problem with TMI movie? They didn't include so many things that happened in the book and I was so upset by that. Jamie did not look like Jace as much as I would've liked neither did the Lightwood siblings. Hopefully this show will be like the books and I'm really excited about the castings. So far so good. 😁

I'm freaking fine with the casts since i already know Cath from girl vs monsters (i love DISNEY BTWs) i told myself lately i would really love to see the new casts as long as they both change jace and clary cause guys you know i really love jamie and lily so i would be really sad if jace or clary would be acting with other casts but to top all of that i really like to see the new casts

As a PLL reader/watcher, I can confirm that it is both a very accurate and very inaccurate portrayal. The characters were captured perfectly, despite the different appearances, but the scenes that happened in the books rarely happened in the movies, other than a few of the bigger scenes. However, I love both the TV series and the book series, and though I barely consider them the same story, I adore them both equally and love the way it comes across in both ways.
With that in mind, I have a good feeling about the Shadowhunters TV show. There may be some differences, in terms of the scenes shown, or the way they come across of how they do it or whatever, but all in all, as long as the actors do the characters justice, I think it'll be a fantastic show that I cannot wait to watch.

Elena in tvd books is blonde. Elena in the tv show has dark brown hair so I am keeping my fingers crossed. But Nina turned out ok. change is not so bad.

I totally agree with you Sasha, the only thing that i'm scared about is the network that its on, because honestly all book to show adaptions on abc family are not accurate at all! Pretty Little Liars books are so completely different from the show its unbelievable & the same with The Nine Lives of Chloe King, that book was so good and the show was pretty good too but they were so different. I don't want to bask abc family because honestly the shows are really good but they aren't accurate at all.

I'm actually kind of excited for this TV series. I got into the series from the movie, yes I'm part of the .001% that LOVED the movie and the direction that series was going to take. I'm not a fan of the books which I'm sure TMI fans think is weird but hey it's my opinion. It's weird seeing other people be the characters but look wise (since I've never seen them act) they look like a good fit. I'm curious about Magnus cause let's be honest, Godfrey was freakin on point, so that'll be interesting to see who will portray him once they get to that point.
The reason they changed PLL from books to TV show, is because everyone already knew who A was and who ended up with who. The show is actually better then the books (this coming from someone who watched the show then read the books)... But, Cassandra actually announced that the show and the books are very similar. Of course, they have to change a few things so that its not predictable but... So far, it seems really cool. Love your videos by the way :)

Hopefully ABC Family has seen the movie and realizes that deviating too much from the source material probably isn't a good idea. God knows it didn't do the movie any favors. So here's to learning from past mistakes!
When you said "Hashtag who is Alec? Hashtag who is Magnus?" I was exactly thinking the same thing and hopefully they would have that chemistry too. I also commented about this on polandbananasBOOKS. Soooo freakin' excited!

I think it could have been more fully executed on the CW channel, because the show would have had a little more freedom in its scenes, and content. ABC Family kind of gives me that feeling that it'll be a little restricted with what it displays. Hopefully it's well presented!

She was on MTV's Happy Land. I didn't particularly like her acting on the show, nor did I like on the last episode of the fosters that she guest stared on. But she fits into Clray's description kind of so I'm willing to give her a chance even though I was not excited that she got cast.
I was very against it at first because the show is going to VERY different from the books, but after watching cast interviews they said they're using the book like a skeleton so the characters are exactly on point (outside and inside) so I'm really excited. Watch the cast interviews and you will have a huge change of heart
I know I'm probably gonna get some hate for what I'm about to say, but it is my opinion. I personally hate the new cast. It's not because of the actors acting skills. Personally it's because they don't look how I imagined the characters. The cast for the movie I thought was great. Again this is my personal opinion and not based on the new casts skills.
The girl playing Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia) was actually in a telenovela or Spanish sop opera as some refer it to. I love the the telenovela and love the character she had portrayed (she was a good actress). When i saw her I knew she was from somewhere and then looked her up and found out she had played one of my favorite characters in one my favorite novellas. Small world isn't it
You're making a really good point about ABC family being the producers. Cassie did SUCH a good job creating a beautifully intertwined plot with so many little subplots and nuances that any changes would likely make so many things fall apart.
But in general I do like the casting - at first, I wasn't sure about Kat b/c she didn't look like Clary to me but once I saw her with red hair I was like giiiiirl I'm super excited bc she looks really good as a redhead :) Dom is great even though I haven't watched his previous works. Someone did an edit and posted it in IG and mhm I approve, though I think they'll dye his hair blonde (if they don't that's nearly as bad as not making Clary a redhead lol). LOVE LOVE LOVE Simon's casting - he's so dorky and nerdy and perfect for the role. Not totally in love with Isabelle's casting but I mean I'll hold off on judgement until I see the show obviously. I just hope she pairs well with Alec in terms of looking like siblings.
And yea, I totally understand being attached to the old cast bc I love them too, but obviously they have other projects now and some of the cast are a lot older (Kevin Zeger is having kids now?!) so having a younger cast fits in better with the series :)

Honestly I think the casting for the TV show is much better that the movie cast in my opinion. Also a fun little fact is Kat's a natural redhead.
The casting is great! I'm really, really happy about Izzy and Simon, their actors are exactly how i imagined them (and yay! diversity!) Dom Sherwood looks good as Jace. Not as I imagined him at first, but I think and hope he will do us (the fandom) proud. Kat McNamara was a bit of a surprise because the whole fandom at the beginning was like "its going to be Molly Quinn! Molly Quinn" and she was how I pictured Clary. But I think Kat will still be great.
This show is going to be great and it makes me so happy that our fandom is lucky enough to kinda get a redo and get a second chance of showing the world how great Cassandra Clare's story really is.
On a sidenote, does anyone know is Cassie Clare will be an "exective producer" or like there to give advice about the story for the show? I really hope she is there to help keep the story honest and good!

For those of you who've never heard of her she is for the most part a Disney star but since thats a turn off for some go check her out in the MTV show Happyland.
Seriously though Kat is an amazing actress, singer, actor, & person! Proud to be a #kitkat since 2012! This is a huge opportunity for her career so Im praying the TV show isnt a flop! Just give her a chance I know she'll be an amazing Clary!
