    That’s a nice machine you got there Aaron, really nice, I’ve never spent more than ten minutes metal detecting, I just have a very cheap detector and didn’t find anything the one time I attempted to detect, I’d love to get me a nice waterproof detector I can get in the creeks with, I have some really good spots in mind for when I do or if I ever get a good detector, I’ve found dozens of 3 ringers just surface collecting for arrowheads over the years and I know I’ll probably be hooked if I ever do find anything with a detector, I wasn’t really into arrowhead hunting until I found my first whole point, I would tag along with my brother and just find flakes and when I found my first point I was hooked, anyway buddy I hope you find some really sweet treasures with your new machine, thanks for sharing, God Bless & GL&HH!!

      Thanks Bucky! I would KILL to be able to metal detect in your area. We have very little Civil War history in my area. VERY little. This was all Indian Territory during the CW. Not much CW activity was going on here during that period. At least compared to other areas. In general, metal detecting around here, except in a few noteable locations, doesn't frequently lead you to find anything from before the very late 1800s. You'd have a blast with a good water proof metal detector. The Garrett AT series is totally water proof. You might also look at Notka. I know at least their Triple Score machine is water proof. Both good brands.

      @@meandmyshadow6269 that sucks Aaron, I’ve found piles of civil war era iron relics just mud larking, I had a bayonet I found in the river, we had a drought one year, the water was the lowest I ever seen it so I would walk down there and gently wade the river with goggles and pluck relics from the river bottle and that’s how I found that bayonet, during one of our droughts years ago an old man was walking the river and found an old train bell in a sand bar, the newspaper ran an article about it, turns out during the 1920’s I believe a train went off the tracks in between Canton and Ballground Georgia right up the rd here and crashed in the river, I never about this until I seen the news article but that cool find, I’d like to contact that old man if he’s still alive and make a video about that and about the train wreck, that would be cool, I told you before I found an old antique SS card, I got video of me returning that to the woman’s gravesite but I didn’t leave it, it’s the church right by my house and I wanna see if her family still attends the church and return it to them but anyway Dude yeah I got tons of spots to metal detect, can’t afford one though but I got two creeks mapped out for when I do very near a major battle site, I bet I could get in there and find artillery shells like Auquchigger does, I doubt anyone has ever detected in the creeks and I bet there loaded with artifacts, I think I found a civil war rosette a few months ago, I got it soaking in vinegar now trying to clean it up, but yeah if you wanna bring a couple of metal detectors down I can put us in some honey holes, holler me if you ever wanna, peace Aaron, God Bless & GL&HH!!🙏🏻🏹

    Thanks for sharing your hunt, I was thinking the detector would tell you what it was probably picking up. Ie ring, coin, gold nugget ✨️. Now I know why the top pockets are smaller 😉 Are there any public swimming holes around, I've heard they can have some goodies 💫🎖🥈💰
    GL next hunt 👍

      @meandmyshadow6269  4 месяца назад +1

      Lol, yeah some hunts can get a little discouraging especially if you're hoping for it to be a really good spot. I wasn't holding too much hope for that spot though, public parks are tough. Mainly I just wanted to see how I'd do in a tough trashy area. Yes, there are some good swimming holes actually. I usually to go to one in particular every summer but I didn't go this summer unfortunately. I have found several rings there in the past. I have a couple water detecting videos in my video list if you want to see me detect in water. I didn't do super good in either video but I still found some junk jewelry and lots of modern coins. Thanks for watching!

      Same here! I just got that AT Max and the first thing I did was pull the stock coil off and put the 5x8 on 🤣
      You ever try the 4inch (I think it's a 4") sniper coil? Not sure if it would be useful to you in the woods or not but I hunt super trashy areas in the city mostly and if I get in REALLY trashy areas that are good sites, I'll put that sniper coil on and it is excellent too. Found some very good treasures with it in places where even the mighty 5x8 wouldn't do. That being said, the 5x8 is still incredibly effective in high trash/high target areas. Thanks for watching and commenting! Sorry for the novel of a reply, I just love talking metal detectors with people!

    Sorry but one more comment brother. I wanted to tell you about old school houses. I'm not sure about the state you live in but here in Colorado every county has land specifically set aside for schools. Many of those lands might be leased for farming now a days but in the past the land had small school houses. When I was really addicted to metal detecting I found A LOT of good coins and other good stuff. I just wanted to give you an idea of a different place to look. Stay blessed my friend.

    • @meandmyshadow6269
      @meandmyshadow6269  4 месяца назад

      I thank you for sharing the tip, Kevin! I have had the opportunity to dig a few old school sites and I couldn't agree more on how good they are! One of the coolest things I ever saw dug out of one was by Gman. We were on an old school site and the building and all trace of it were long gone. The school that once stood there was built in 1906. Gman dug up a broken jar that contained a few marbles and a lead Model T toy car. A toy cache! Mind blowing to have witnessed. And yes, the old schools produce some of the best coin finds. Including, as you probably already know, random old foreign coins. Makes me wonder if they were souvenirs that kids brought for show-and-tell? 🤔

      @@meandmyshadow6269 Aaron it's funny but I have never dug a foreign coin before. Of course Colorado is kinda behind the rest of the US as far as history goes. I started with a Whites detector that weighed like 30 lbs. LOL No discrimination so I dug EVERYTHING. LOL I don't think I will every top my best day though. Along with the 14 silver coins I found a ton of Wheaties and a couple Indians. And a copper ring that never made it home for some reason. LOL I wish you a ton of luck with the new Garret brother. The Mercury dimes I used for the Jewelry were form that day.
