I believe he is using it in this song to represent the more commonly used bagpipes. Your pausing doesn’t bother me, if I want to hear the song uninterrupted, I simply go to his channel.

This song is what started me down the rabbit hole with Dan’s music a year ago. I never heard of him, I never listened to metal music at all, and I have been blessed and enriched with the way he interprets and delivers the music. Absolutely pulls you in emotionally….joyful, sad, go conquer the world…. whatever the emotion needs to be--he delivers. I, too, think that this is the very best rendition of Amazing Grace. After hearing you speak at the beginning, I suspected this was going to have a powerful impact on you by the end. I don’t think you need to worry about your interruptions. They are far fewer than many reactors. When this first dropped almost everyone stopped to comment after the second verse. The problem was, Vasc comes into the third verse an octave higher and depending on how long the reactor spoke, many of them didn’t notice the change. That drove me nuts, but you didn’t hit that pothole! Thanks! 👍

Dan has a personal connection to this song too. His dad passed away and this was his dad's favorite song... also, his dad gave him the harmonica. So you can see that he's really feeling it and conveys his passion in his beautiful voice and in his face and while I haven't been a lover of metal in the past, I very much appreciate Dan's skill in incorporating that grit into his personal, emotional way. And I love being able to watch his face and mouth close up. And he did this song justice and with respect. Then combine his good looks and posture with his music... it's pure gold. Dan released this video last Easter. It just showed up on my feed and when I watched this, it really touched me. I think the reason this performance has made such an impact is that Dan is being totally authentic. There are many different facets to this man and he is openly sharing one. Of course, his rich voice, vocal range, breath control and performance ability are amazing and these added with his openness, are something truly special. I've watched this many times an it never fails to move me. Dan is really just a great guy. Thank you for the honest reaction. BTW, I don't mind you pausing and giving your thoughts. Some think that pausing ruins the flow, but we come to someone reacting to a song for their reactions and thoughts, especially those that come to mind in the moment. For those who don't like the pausing, go watch the original. If you (Jesse) think that pausing ruins the flow, simply go back 5 seconds (left arrow key) and play from there. This is what many reactors do. Also, I've heard quite a few reactors state that they have tried to limit pausing and taking notes, but still miss many things that had come to mind during the song and by waiting until the end, they forgot. For myself, I don't like the reactors that don't pause and then end with "Ooh! That was good. Well, have a good one. Until next one my friends." Okay. What in the h-e-double-hockey-sticks?!? Where's the reaction? You didn't have any thoughts? Am I supposed to be a mind reader or simply go off of your facial expression? Another commenter in a comment section a while back stated that it was like a spiritual journey: starting out tenuous showing the beginnings of the journey of faith, and then building and strengthening until they are proudly and strongly proclaiming their faith and belief with powerful convictions.

I'm really happy that you did this one. I had a feeling that you would really like it. I have only heard one reactor, so far (out of 100s) who didn't like it at all. You do great with the stops that you do, in my opinion, and you always have something worth hearing, to say. Then you back up a bit and we still get the transitions that might have been missed, otherwise. Dan has a personal connection to this song too. His dad passed away and this was his dad's favorite song... also, his dad gave him the harmonica. So you can see that he's really feeling it and conveys his passion in his beautiful voice and in his face and while I haven't been a lover of metal in the past, I very much appreciate Dan's skill in incorporating that grit into his personal, emotional way. And I love being able to watch his face and mouth close up. And he did this song justice and with respect. Then combine his good looks and posture with his music... it's pure gold. I normally don't like interuptions... I've only known of Dan for 2 weeks and have in that time, listened to this probably everyday, and only just discovered reaction videos, so I forgive you because I've listened to this over and over because I just can't get enough. Dan released this video last Easter. It just showed up on my feed and when I watched this, it really touched me. I think the reason this performance has made such an impact is that Dan is being totally authentic. There are many different facets to this man and he is openly sharing one. Of course, his rich voice, vocal range, breath control and performance ability are amazing and these added with his openness, are something truly special. I've watched this many times an it never fails to move me. Dan is really just a great guy. Thank you for the honest reaction. BTW, I don't mind you pausing and giving your thoughts. So much preferred to others speaking over the performance.

Some think that pausing ruins the flow, but we come to someone reacting to a song for their reactions and thoughts, especially those that come to mind in the moment. For those who don't like the pausing, go watch the original. If you (Jesse) think that pausing ruins the flow, simply go back 5 seconds (left arrow key) and play from there. This is what many reactors do. Also, I've heard quite a few reactors state that they have tried to limit pausing and taking notes, but still miss many things that had come to mind during the song and by waiting until the end, they forgot. For myself, I don't like the reactors that don't pause and then end with "Ooh! That was good. Well, have a good one. Until next one my friends." Okay. What in the h-e-double-hockey-sticks?!? Where's the reaction? You didn't have any thoughts? Am I supposed to be a mind reader or simply go off of your facial expression? (of which many people really aren't that expressive)
As to this song, Dan's version is simply the best I've ever heard. Starting out slow and building bit by bit upon that and ending with power and conviction. Another reactor/vocal coach/singer said that Dan gave a masterclass in vocal technique with this rendition.
Another commenter in a comment section a while back stated that it was like a spiritual journey: starting out tenuous showing the beginnings of the journey of faith, and then building and strengthening until they are proudly and strongly proclaiming their faith and belief with powerful convictions.

I'm really happy that you did this one. I had a feeling that you would really like it. I have only heard one reactor, so far (out of 100s) who didn't like it at all. You do great with the stops that you do, in my opinion, and you always have something worth hearing, to say. Then you back up a bit and we still get the transitions that might have been missed, otherwise. I wouldn't change a thing, You are doing great, and whenever I see one of your reactions pop up, I'm ready to listen.
I have two other Dan suggestions, for a change of pace. For one, I think you might really enjoy what Dan did for this past Christmas, because it makes a great follow-up for Amazing Grace. His Christmas choice for December 2023, was "O Holy Night," ( but I highly doubt you've ever heard it sung like Dan did it.
