    I’m adding another review. I bought this fountain a week ago bc of this review… easy clean up, quiet, minimal parts to clean. I had no idea how much my cats weren’t drinking until I got it…I can tell by what’s in the litter box and I’m shocked by the increase in urine output. Many cats are prone to urinary / kidney issues so getting them drink is important. And cats by nature tend to like running water. I still have bowls as an option but I see them using the fountain a lot and I can tell by the water level in the fountain how much they’ve had. I’m so glad I found this review bc every fountain I looked at before had too many parts to clean. Thanks again for this great review!!

    I used to have this one, and realized that my cat was getting chin acne. I use Petlibro's automatic feeder with stainless steel bowl, so I ended up returning this one and getting their stainless steel water fountain. It may not look as pretty as this one, but I'm liking it so much more for my kitty. YMMV!

    We bought our cats the Catit Flower Fountain about 2 years ago. They all use it and love it. The filters on the Flower Fountain wash well so can be used several times before replacing them. One of our cats sits at one side of the fountain but stretches over and drinks from the opposite side. Very strange cat 🙄 I find ours is quiet but maybe that's because it's sitting on carpet which absorbs the humming. I like to hear the soft trickling of the water - I find it relaxing. Ours didn't drink out of bowls so much but the fountain is a great favourite with them all. We lost one of our cats at the age of only 9 to kidney failure and wondered if it started with low level dehydration, which is why we bought the water fountain. My cats are mostly fed on wet food but do get some dry food in the afternoon. I think everyone who has a cat should have a fountain of some kind.

    • @amandaangelisse5612
      @amandaangelisse5612 11 месяцев назад +1

      I had that one before I bought this one. The filters were expensive $10 and only came with 2 of them. Than I found there was a lot of dirt and particles in the bottom and my cats were getting sick. I switched to this and my cats use it a lot more and the filters are cheaper and come with more!

    • @Pythonaria
      @Pythonaria 11 месяцев назад

      @@amandaangelisse5612 Never had a problem with ours and we've got 2 of them. Got box of 5 filters from Amazon for £13 - about $15. Filters are washable too and last for a long time. The only thing we've had to do was replace the pump in our older Flower Fountain. The new pump cost £8 - roughly $10. Where I live in the UK we have really hard water. For us humans we don't have a kettle now, they would last less than 2 years. We have an Aurora Optima water dispenser which gives us hot or chilled filtered water. As for the cats' fountains, simply clean them out regularly. When our older fountain wasn't working for a couple of days, our cats refused to drink water out of a bowl and used the upstairs fountain. Catit were really good and the new pump was with us within 2 days. Really can't fault them or their service.

    People complaining about fountains and stuff need to realize that these things need to be regularly cleaned and maintained, they have a lot of parts and components that can harbor bacteria and whatnot, so they need to be cleaned thoroughly and sterilized.. filters aren't going to filter out bacteria etc that create films and slime.

  • @veeeks2938
    @veeeks2938 Год назад +1

    I got given this model as my siblings cats didn't take to it.
    Some thoughts.
    It worked fine at first but the water slowed to a dribble then stopped over some weeks. I thought it was the filter, or maybe the power adapter was kaput. Before I chucked it out, I disassembled everything, even the pump housing (don't worry about damaging it, it's all obvious where it comes apart, no tools required). I found the pump inlet gummed up with a lot of nasty stuff and gave it a good scrubbing with an old toothbrush, and used cotton buds to clean the tube that feeds into the fountain. Finally I left the whole thing in hot soapy water overnight, and after an initial run which had it spewing out gunk, it works perfectly fine now.
    I don't use the filter in it as it seems like it is used up. I am looking into seeing if I can replace the components in the filter with third party replacements (ie activated charcoal, etc). It's not important as the fountain works just fine without the filter.

    I would get a fountain because cats do like to see the moving water but I would just forgo the silly filters. They aren't going to do anything really and are a clear money grab for these companies to get a recurring money stream. Just keep the large one on the pump to keep the big stuff out.
    In that regard I think I would get the pretty much all stainless one. Earlier to clean and will prob last longer.

    • @cptbardo
      @cptbardo 2 года назад

      This is exactly what we do. If you rinse and refill every couple days, you don't need a filter. Heck, it probably keeps things cleaner than using the filter and only cleaning every 2 weeks. And I personally find it easier to maintain that way than worrying about when I last changed the filter, or running out of replacements, etc..
      Been using a Catit LED Flower Fountain sans filter for over 3 years and it's still going strong. But the middle plastic support piece has SO many tiny nooks and crannies to clean, and you can't put the fountain together without it. Recently purchased an NPET fountain because it was a simpler design, but twice now we've woken up to find water in the tray under the fountain. There are no cracks in the reservoir, so it must be a design flaw with the holes that allow water back down into the reservoir. I think I'm going to pick this one up instead and hope that I can put it together without the filter tray. (I know you can leave out the filter, but I'm hoping you can also leave out the filter tray to simplify the cleaning.)

      Pioneer pets has one called The Swan. It’s does need to be adjusted, though: people say it’s works better if elevated on a stool, and a couple Aquarius rocks are placed in the base to reduce the splashing sound. And other you can do is adjust the flow of the water: on the pump, there is a slide that allows you to change the flow from full to a stream.
      Also take into account the maintenance of this foundation: it needs to be scrubbed down with a pipe cleaner, and the pump needs to be taken apart and hand washed. The base and neck can go in the dishwasher, but not the pump parts (the parts are too small, and can be lost). It is also best to run some hydrogen peroxide or vinegar through it once in a while to disinfect.

    It gave my one cat cat acne. Otherwise, it’s a nice water fountain. The fountain is expensive for upkeep with a multi-cat home with the cost of replacement filters. I would also mention that due to saliva build up on the spout, the top never really gets clean, leaving a white , non-sticky residue. Nothing I did could remove it. It’s best to have more than one in the home for multi-cat homes. I ended up getting rid of it despite my 2 other cats having no adverse health reaction. It’s the best of the ones I’ve purchased thus far, including the Petlibro stainless steel water fountain ( which I don’t recommend).

First, it’s the quietest water fountain I’ve owned. I literally cannot hear anything when it’s running. Second, I love that it’s a high top so my cats don’t have to crouch when drinking. I'm so sorry that this has impacted you. I'll also try to make sure that the volume of my voice is a bit louder as some others have mentioned that it's too quiet. I recognize you from comments on previous videos, so thank you so much for remaining engaged and continuing to watch even though the situation hasn't been ideal for you. - Mallory

      @@AllAboutCatsYT I’m not gonna lie, it’s a bit of an addiction. Watching videos about the best ways to take care of my cats, there’s always more to know. You are pretty informative so I try not to just write someone off because of captions and such. Keep up the good work! You have definitely directed me to the right litter, litter box, tooth paste, cat trees, food, toys, and much more stuff I frankly can’t even remember it all.

    Question please if possible, does the Petlibro fountain work as normal without a filter? It looks amazing but the added cost of filters is a bit concerning especially when I'm already filtering the water beforehand for my fluffy friend.

      Bit late here, but yeah it works fine without the filter. I change the water once every day or two. I've actually been tempted to cut the filter material open and try replacing it with another filtration material like activated charcoal. Though to be honest, it's a bit over kill lol.

    I've been considering getting this foundation, but I saw a lot of reviews on Amazon mentioning that when the water level is only half full, the water barely drips out of the spout. A lot of reviews also mentioned the filter getting moldy quickly. Have you noticed either of these things being an issue in your time using it? Thanks for your help!

    • @AllAboutCatsYT
      @AllAboutCatsYT  3 года назад +1

      Hey Amy, after using this fountain for a few months, I can confirm that the spout does get really slow after the level lowers, but I haven't noticed any mold. Hope this helps!

    • @matthewb.1687
      @matthewb.1687 2 года назад

      This happens to most cat fountains and usually the culprit is the foam filter. Its too dense for most filters and they struggle badly. its recommended that it be removed. You have a great three tier filter up top and if you clean it once every two weeks as is recommended you should be right as rain and not need to fear debris damaging your pump.

    Hello I’m looking into getting a water fountain and I’m between petlibro stainless steel or their ceramic rainbow one they have? Do you think one is better than the other? I’m leaning towards the ceramic one but wasn’t sure.

    • @AllAboutCatsYT
      @AllAboutCatsYT  3 года назад +1

      Hi there! I haven't tried either of these newer Petlibro fountains, but it looks like it's probably going to be a matter of preference in general. The stainless steel one has a larger capacity, so you'll be able to go longer between refills, and stainless steel is probably a bit more hygienic than ceramic, but other than that, it looks like they're probably very similar in terms of performance.

    So if the power goes off, is there any water left for the cat to drink? Mom of them the water does go down into the base and it is not accessible for the cat to drink. This is not good if I am gone all day and there is a power outage.

    • @AllAboutCatsYT
      @AllAboutCatsYT  3 года назад

      Yes. There will always be water remaining in the top tray, so your cat will have something to drink if the power goes out for a few hours or a day.

    I loved this fountain so much when I bought it - but within 15 minutes of use, my one cat had the top off and the other cat pulled it over and emptied the water all over the floor. (sigh). It’s very light, so if you have cats that like to play with the fountain, this won’t be a good choice. This is my 4th fountain! I can’t find one that my male cat can’t take apart. Does anyone have a suggestion? The Catit one with the flower on top is another example… the cat had it disassembled within 10 minutes.

Do you have other cats who may be making the litter box feel unsafe for your female kitty? You can learn more about inappropriate elimination here: allaboutcats.com/cat-peeing-outside-litter-box

    OMG...do not wait 2 weeks to change the water in these things!!! We dump, rinse the parts and inside the fountain and replace the water with filtered water every Tues, and every Sat morning, it is fully cleaned with unscented soap and warm water, and refilled again. Even with a filtre and movement, there is no way that water will not accumulate bacteria after two weeks. Don't get me wrong...we have two of the Parner stainless tray fountains for our boy, but the 2 week rule advertised by the manufacturers is nothing more than a marketing ploy to appeal to consumers desire for convenience. Btw, did not hear whether this fountain is BPA free.
