I give my cat little bit of scrambled eggs, little bit of cheese which he loves and very small amounts of bread. He also loves shredded chicken and unseasoned ground turkey.
hello there I had some suggestions for you..you should try out raw eggs, I give them to my raw fed ferrets & dogs, very nutritious and beneficial to their coat (unlike cooked). 1 per cat per week and for cheese remember that cats can not properly digest dairy (lack of proper enzymes to break it down, so its very hard on them and can cause issues!1) please don't give any grains to your cat ever! their body is not designed to digest grains. Fyi cats are obligate carnivores meaning, they can only properly utilize and digest animal carcasses, which is why most cat kibble cause health issues. For the meat.. unless your feeding organic RAW chicken meaning no rosemary oil added no spiced, no salt and no vinegar, You shouldn't be feeding it AT ALL.. This goes for all meats. Try feeding it raw! it comes much more nutritious for them to eat it in its natural state! Its what cats dogs and ferret were designed to do.
I would recommend goat kefir over yogurt. Goat kefir is higher on nutrition vs yogurt itself! It's easily accessible too and there are also companies that do pet used goat kefir with turmeric added it which is even better.
for cheese remember that cats can not properly digest dairy (lack of proper enzymes to break it down, so its very hard on them and can cause issues! please make sure that you research before doing things like so!!!
@@elizabeth1663 Greek yogurt contains very little lactose. That is why it is more appropriate for cats than other dairy products. Cheeses also contain very little lactose, but the problem is that they tend to be high in salt, and thus unhealthy for cats.

@@debbieshomes6984 A tiny bit of turkey deli meat once a month or so would be fine. Your cat's body doesn't accumulate sodium over time, so as long as the rest of their diet is nutritionally balanced, I wouldn't worry about a high-sodium treat once in a while.
@@AllAboutCatsYT its not a tiny bit, but its given as a treat on occasion. Its easier to buy than to buy turkey tenderloins and boil & shred it. @@sofiawils3829 Cats actually have the bacteria to break down raw food. So it doesn’t harm them believe it or not! But if you were to give raw meat or eggs to a human it would in fact harm them. You have no idea what you’re talking about.. you have done no research whatsoever to prove what you’re talking about. I have done countless weeks of research on what I do on a daily basis. I could give you many more examples on how the raw diet has saved my pet’s life.. how many times can you say that about kibble? Is that right none?? my god really!!! that’s what I thought cats dogs and ferrets have a much lower gastric pH compared to humans. We are not designed to eat raw meat. Go look at a cats incisors. As well as dog and ferret. Their body is designed to rip flush off his bones. I don’t think that I ever see wild polecats tigers or wolves eating kibble from a factory that is highly processed and covered in cancer. I choose not to feed harm fully processed foods. The companies that I support for my roommate have in mind of keeping pets healthy and making them thrive. Cable companies only want money they use the remains from human meat such as beaks and many other completely nutrient insufficient ingredients. It’s only because it’s cheap. My boy cat loves a spoonful of pumpkin and because he’s not much of a water drinker I add water to it. I read it’s okay for cats. Oddly his sister used to like pumpkin too, but now never eats it. However she loves the water fountain. That’s cats for ya.
Pumpkin is a really good source of fiber for our pets! Whether they have loose stools or constipation it works wonders! The vet I used to work for would allow us to tell owners this if there were no other symptoms to save them $ and a visit (obviously if there were any other signs of illness they need to be seen right away)
My cats go nuts for frozen vanilla yogurt. Since my husband got throat cancer we are having frozen yogurt every night ( we are vegans but the non dairy yogurt has more sugar and saturated fats). I give them each about a half tsp each of the frozen yogurt. When my husband is recovered no more frozen yogurt.
My old cat used to love trying to steal our yoplait whenever we ate it. Probably not the best cause it was flavored non-greek yogurt, but it was not a regular thing. We gave him some yogurt as his last treat before we had to put him down (he was old and had a stroke that paralyzed him from the neck down)
Hi thanks for this video! I am about to get a new kitten and am super excited!!! Also your onion cutting skill is perfect! As a Chef I seem to think you are trained with knife skills...?
Could you please make a video of how you feed Wessie? what in his everyday diet? My 1 year old cat had urinary struvite, she is clear of it now but the doctor said we needed to watch her diet. I've been feeding her wet cat food and royal canin urinary dry food (we don't have anything else for urinary support in Vietnam sadly) but I'm worried it isnt enough. I also have been giving her Tripsy supplement with her food everyday. Would love to learn how you feed Wessie, and whether you give him any supplement! Thank you! always love your videos!
I would be interested in this too! they have an article on the top Urinary cat foods on the All About Cats website. the recommendations mostly aren't specially formulated for urinary health but I guess they are healthy options because they have high moisture, have high quality ingredients, and avoid certain things. I would like to feed my cat a higher quality food but I'm scared to give him something that isn't specially urinary formulated.
My cats love chicken. They are pretty fond of big chicken (turkey) too One of my cats likes to sit and eat peanuts with me. I share because I feel like it's a bonding moment and my cats are friends and family.
I’m feeding Royal Canin dry and wet food for kitten (1-12 months)… recently I discovered blood in poop… she’s having diarrhea… what could be the reason… I do give treats Purina Party and dreamie… what could be the reason, please advise
My cat can absolutely not stomach milk. Even a tiny spit of milk makes him throw up 😔 he also strongly loves popcorn, despite me not giving him any. Popcorn is probably one of his most favorite "human foods". I got my cat when he was 5 years old and he is 6 now. Big orange cat from the shelter that I was able to slim down to a more healthy weight. His name is Benny.
Usually the problem is that the milk is pasteurized, which is heavily processed with synthetic minerals and nutrients. The pH is also acidic instead of alkaline or basic like raw milk that hasn't been tampered with. Just a factor to consider. Often times, the problem is not the milk but what they do to it.
My cat is obsessed with yogurt. Every time one of us grabs some from the freezer he senses it and runs to meow dramatically in our faces until he gets some too.
Thanks I was taking care of my besties cat and I didn’t know what juman food they could eat and I wanted to give the cat something different then cat food, and because of this channel I found out what I can give the cat!
I'm super new to being a cat mom, my fiance's cat has recently had to have a diet overhaul and your videos have been such a lifeline for me! I would be very interested if you could have a general overview video of things to be looking for in our cats' diet (obviously short of veterinarian recommendations). Maybe showing some of your processes with how you'd read a can of cat food to distinguish or the type or research you would do before trying it? I've heard things like avoiding too much tuna, fish in general, etc. but our cat LOVES those so I feel very conflicted - so tips like that in a general education video would be so helpful. I've been interested in Stella & Chewy's and I hope a full video may be in our future! (Especially their "Dinner Dust" to maybe have an option to fulfill nutritional needs even if some foods lack it? Not sure what your opinion of that is but I'd love to know!) Thank you so much for all that you do!
I’m adopting a 12 week kitten in a couple months from a friend. Can you go over how many calories they need as they grow? I want to feed a variety of different food on a rotating schedule but I don’t want him to get over weight. Or sick.
I have a random question. So the kitten I got is still 2 months old but the people I got her from didn't wean her. Should I but formula and wean her myself or will she be fine on her own? She can eat wet food on her own.
Hi Jaz, thanks for commenting! Most mother cats will wean their kittens, so I'm not sure if you mean that your new kitten has been drinking their mother's milk or if the previous owners were bottle-feeding her. Regardless, if she can eat wet food on her own, I would opt for that.
So I just had to call the poison control helpline a couple weeks ago when my cat snuck a bag of raisin scones under my bed to eat verrrrry quietly. He ate three whole scones. And the helpline basically said that while we don't know why a tiny percentage of cats were affected by grapes and raisins - according to the helpline, only a handful of cases from their records - they all had underlying conditions that could have complicated the matter - cats don't seem negatively affected by grapes and raisins like dogs. So even though my cat ate a bunch of raisins over the course of two days, he had no sign of issues, like vomiting, excessive energy or lethargy, increased thirst, etc. So I didn't take him to the vet. But always be aware of any sudden changes to your cats behavior in conjunction with consumption of grapes or raisins. At least that's what the aspca poison control helpline told me.
Great comment. I'm amazed that your cat snuck and ate three scones under the bed! What a motivated and curious kitty. Glad that everything worked out well.
Hey Mallory! As always me and my cat Simon enjoy your great work. I was wondering if you were planning on doing a review on cat vitamins/ malts or probiotics/prebiotics. As a guardian of a cat who has had bilateral femoral head and neck osteotomy, I struggle to find viable and reliable options to support my cat's bone structure and support him in other nutritional needs. A review or recommendation from you would be great! Thanks so much for the great content you put out there.
How do your cats react to having lit candles in the house? I love candles and I'm looking to adopt this year but I want to make sure I am careful about the cat harming themselves or starting a fire
I got my cat off of dry food and wet food seems a little expensive monthly, can I do a mix of homemade boiled chicken/liver/other organ meats and the rest commercial wet food? Like a 50-59 split
Hi there! A 50:59 split would not be right. Boiled chicken and organ meats aren't nutritionally-complete for cats, so I'd worry that this would lead to nutrient deficiencies. I would aim for a 90:10 ratio of commercial to homemade food, unless you are using a recipe and fortifying the food to make it nutritionally complete.
@@AllAboutCatsYT thank you. I will keep her on 100% commercial wetfood for now and give chicken for snacks, until I can find nutritionally complete homemade recipes.
I'm curious about your opinion on feeding a frozen raw food diet to cats? Something like Instinct Raw Chicken Bites for cats or Big Country Raw's Fare Game?
My cat ate his normal meal he always eats then he ate less than 1/4 tsp of yogurt and he vomited his whole meal 2 mins after eating yogurt. So maybe some cats can’t eat yogurt. Also people who feed their cats a raw diet include raw eggs in their diet but others say that raw eggs are bad. Can I give my cat a raw quail egg as a treat?
The fact I’ve heard so much “cooked” in this video made me cringe , boiled eggs ? Seriously ? Where on earth cat can get boiled eggs or cooked bird in nature - raw all the way - lots of information in this video is very amateurish & simply incorrect. But I guess that what pet owners like to hear

I'm very interested to find out if the Cats & Dogs were allergic to Grapes (Non-GMO or Organic) way back years ago, when all Grapes had seeds in them. Is it only when ingesting SEEDLESS Grapes + Organic for instance...I never heard early 1980's that Cats & Dogs should not be given Grapes in the 1970's or 1980's...They've altered out foods with Seedless which is not Natural at all. Vita has no interest in dairy products. Should have taken that into account when I bought her goat’s milk, which is a lot easier for cats to digest than cow’s milk. Interesting you used the Lindt dark chocolate as an example of chocolate. We have lots of that! 85 per cent too! . Vita has not shown any interest and I have been mindful about keeping it away from her. As for the tuna, albacore tuna has a higher content of mercury than skipjack tuna. I have given Vita a small amount of albacore tuna, and she loved it, but after doing research on it, I ended up consuming the rest. I have known other cat parents who have given their cats tuna on a regular basis with no ill effects. Vita got a high amount of tuna in her first year, before I adopted her. As for garlic and onion, it is very common for me to drop some garlic and onion on the floor when chopping or transferring the chopped bits into a bowl. I guess these small amounts won’t harm Vita. I need to be more mindful about keeping the floor cleaner, although these little bits are sometimes hard to see.
Thank you so much. I wonder that can i feed my kitten frozen tuna i bought from supper market? My city is in quarantine right now, then I can't find fresh tuna >.
Hi Aya! Those should be fine. Cheese can be a little bit questionable as certain softer cheeses present a slight lactose risk, but if your cat seems to handle it well, I think it should be fine. Just make sure that their weight and body composition stay within a healthy range and let your cat snack away!
I’m a bit confused. If a cats diet shouldn’t be fish based and chicken should be given as a treat, what should a cat be eating as part of a balanced diet?
Fermentation reduces the lactose content of yogurt, so it's already a lower-lactose option compared to regular milk, but you'll also find products that are made to contain no lactose-here's a list you might find helpful: www.eatthis.com/lactose-free-yogurt/
If chicken and fish aren’t a part of the balanced diet of a chat then wtf is a cat’s balanced diet!? I’m someone with very limited food resources and cannot afford manmade cat food
If you call the pet poison control hotline they will charge you, instead call your local emergency vet thats open 24 hours. They will let you know if you need to bring your cat in or not. I am a professional pet sitter and I've called the local emergency vet a few times to ask them several different things. I had a dog eat a mushroom on a walk once, so I gave them a call and they were able to put my anxiety at ease and let me know to just keep an eye on the pup for 30 mins or so. I have never even thought to call the pet poison control hotline
@@AllAboutCatsYT it's still probably good to mention the Poison control hotline because people in rural areas may not have a 24 hour vet available to them. Try feeding it raw! it comes much more nutritious for them to eat it in its natural state! Its what cats dogs and ferret were designed to do.
Bread is not good for them
I would recommend goat kefir over yogurt. Goat kefir is higher on nutrition vs yogurt itself! It's easily accessible too and there are also companies that do pet used goat kefir with turmeric added it which is even better.
Thank you for great video. Some of the bad foods were quite common thing to give to cats...

i never thought about my cat's gut health before. im going to try giving her yogurt on occasion now
for cheese remember that cats can not properly digest dairy (lack of proper enzymes to break it down, so its very hard on them and can cause issues! please make sure that you research before doing things like so!!!
@@elizabeth1663 of course id research before feeding my cat anything!
@@elizabeth1663 Greek yogurt contains very little lactose. That is why it is more appropriate for cats than other dairy products. Cheeses also contain very little lactose, but the problem is that they tend to be high in salt, and thus unhealthy for cats.
What about fresh sardines from the fish market? Is it safe for them to eat small fresh sardines? or should I cook them?

@@AllAboutCatsYT Yes! Great video! I have a question, would it be ok to give my cats turkey cold cuts (cooked meat)? It says its less than 2% sodium. As a treat, they go crazy for it, but I am concerned abt the sodium intake. Its only as a treat, maybe once a month. Pls advise.
Thank u
@@debbieshomes6984 A tiny bit of turkey deli meat once a month or so would be fine. Your cat's body doesn't accumulate sodium over time, so as long as the rest of their diet is nutritionally balanced, I wouldn't worry about a high-sodium treat once in a while.
@@AllAboutCatsYT its not a tiny bit, but its given as a treat on occasion. Its easier to buy than to buy turkey tenderloins and boil & shred it. They normally eat wet food for lunch, freeze dried raw snack in the afternoon and dry food at night & in early morning. No free feeding anymore. Only good healthy food, staying away from carrageen, gluten and no "by products" either.
Thanks for all your videos & answering my questions. ❤❤❤

One of my cats really love yogurt. I can’t eat any without him stepping on me to get some and this cat is the textbook definition of a scaredy cat... so I let him lick a little off the lid but no more.

My dad is getting a kitten in 4 weeks from our neighbour who has way too many, he is a rebellious big blue eyed tabby, he starts fights with other cats
*seems brilliant*
My cat is always constipated I mix a small spoon of yogurt no sugar with probiotics and helps her go
No egg whites, especially for male cats. Egg yolks only. Yes to yoghurt... plain yoghurt good for balancing digestive problems.
My cat Hermes goes crazy when I peel hard boiled eggs, meowing and rubbing up against my legs, but when I give him a little, he doesn't eat it. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

I could give you many more examples on how the raw diet has saved my pet’s life.. how many times can you say that about kibble? Is that right none?? my god really!!! that’s what I thought
cats dogs and ferrets have a much lower gastric pH compared to humans. I buy raw meat because it’s the highest quality that I could possibly give my pets. I want to give them the best life that they can have while they’re still with me. Some of my cats go bonkers for costco roast chicken leftovers. For now on I will rinse it first to reduce the seasoning which I assume is mostly salt. Thanks Mallory. Also, cat guardians you should know that all lily plants are potentially deadly to cats.

I meant to ask your opinion of Freshpet for cats? It is in stores refrigerated no preservatives. Ahna
Questionable. I've read a lot of reports of freshness problems in the stores, and they use sodium nitrate as a preservative, which may not be ideal.
my cat eats sushi quality raw ahi tuna as a occasional treat and she never had any problems, she is 19 yrs old indoor cat.

My vet has reccomended me to add pumpkin into my cat's diet regarding her gland issues
I Love Pumpkin pie 🥰.
my cat loves bread and butter 😐 don’t worry i don’t give it to him, but he’s gotten into them before and he loves it
Butter is good in small quantities if your cat is prone to getting matted fur
I dropped a can of Pringle and my cat grabbed like 4 before I could get out of bed and across the room to get them
Omg same my cat tries to eat my toast all the time
My cats go nuts for frozen vanilla yogurt. Since my husband got throat cancer we are having frozen yogurt every night ( we are vegans but the non dairy yogurt has more sugar and saturated fats). I give them each about a half tsp each of the frozen yogurt. When my husband is recovered no more frozen yogurt.
One of my cats love hard boiled egg yolks. Also I usually make chicken breast if I ever run out of cat food it’s a good short term substitute

Cats are lactose intolerant smh its not a baby cow.
My cat is obsessed with yogurt. Every time one of us grabs some from the freezer he senses it and runs to meow dramatically in our faces until he gets some too.

Not sure what your opinion of that is but I'd love to know!)

Yes the new kitten is still drinking its mothers milk. Thank you again for answering.
What about nori as treats? I read dried seaweed is fine, as long as it's not seasoned of course
Good question. That's one you'd likely want to consult your vet before trying, because seaweed's mineral content may be a cause for concern for some.
A lot of people give their cats bonito flakes as treats! Thats a much more thoroughly vetted option 😉
How do your cats react to having lit candles in the house? I love candles and I'm looking to adopt this year but I want to make sure I am careful about the cat harming themselves or starting a fire
Hi Michael, my cats are fine with the candles, but I do take care to never leave a room with a lit candle as you never know what might happen.
What's the brand of candle you have in the background?
Hi Adiy, that's a White Barn candle. Thanks for commenting.

Uncooked eggs are acceptable, but I have heard that there are some concerns about raw egg whites, which are seldom included in raw food recipes.

Yes! Frozen tuna should be fine for your kitten, provided that it's not the only thing they're eating. Take care!
I feed my cat mainly unseasoned chicken and meat and fish once a week little cheese Is that correct ?
Hi Aya! Those should be fine. Cheese can be a little bit questionable as certain softer cheeses present a slight lactose risk, but if your cat seems to handle it well, I think it should be fine. Just make sure that their weight and body composition stay within a healthy range and let your cat snack away!
My cat's favorite food was a freshly roasted chicken, which was the one food he would keep eating after he was full. Take care.

are these okay for kittens? or should you wait till they are an adult?
Yes, all of these are just as safe and appropriate for kittens as they are for adult cats.

Hi Laura, while most varieties of flavoreed yogurt won't be harmful, I would recommend choosing an unflavored plain yogurt.

My first cat liked tomato and cantaloupe. Aren't some cats allergic to chicken?
My first cat loved broccoli as a treat. LOL
Would tuna be considered/ to be raw
is there lactose free yogurt??
