    Not really. I had a English Budgie named Frasier. He was big. He lived to be 11 years old when he died last February. The only problem he had was what the vet called a fat pad, but other than that he lived a happy life. I would put his cage on the back patio everyday. He loved being out and able to hear all the other birds. He was a awesome bird and could learn to talk.

    I personally prefer the English over the wild type just for personality factor alone. I find them to be more willing to interact with humans and are generally a whole lot quieter.

    budgies are native to australia and are green/yellow, but after long years of domesticating english people breed them too look really fluffy and blue, theyre for showcase.

    I never said I would like a cripple for a bird. I still want the bird to be active...otherwise what's the point of having any parrot species?

    I totally missed this comment but now I will reply. Budgies like so many animals are mutant and have been man bred... that is true. Get over yourself. Dogs are one of the many animals that have been bred selectively... do you think about toy dogs the same way. I love animals. I don't breed my birds to have feathers that cover their eyes like so many other breeders. I don't see my budgies as mutants I see them as my pets and love them.. Budgies don't need to be in flocks... dumb ass..

    I have a question pertaining to my English Parakeet..( I posted a video on his page) he has full blown fallen in love w a green blow pop.. no joke. He gently chirps to it and tosses it around and even tried to do the dirty to it.. well every time I say the word lollipop his behavior changes drastically and he shoves his face against my lips and lightlychirps and whistles and will even flap his wings firmly Everytime I say Lollipop. He mimics extremely well so I'm used to him going to my mouth over words or phrases he's learning but this is just so intense and odd and def out of the norm. I'm not sure if he likes me saying it or if he is as possessive over the word as he is the actual lollipop. Thank you in advance on any info u can give me. Again, the last video I posted is of this behavior. Have a wonderful day!

    @neewafa You have to be patient. Put food on your hand and stick it in the cage, and wait for one or both to hop and and take some. It may take several tries but don't give up. Try sesame seeds, mine love them. After you gain their trust you can gradually try to coax them out of the cage with sesame seeds.

    Ohhhh....I see. You're right....I always thought that English budgies were just naturally larger than American budgies...Yes, I agree it's very sad that the cute little buggers die so soon.

    Anyone can translate what Mr. Budgie say?

  • @AuroraBlood
    @AuroraBlood 13 лет назад

    @geilcourt I can't believe you can say that. English budgies have been bred so wrong that their faces are distorted. Please, read a book, browse articles, educate yourself. "It's so CUTE" is not the correct reason for buying this mutant. Also, budgies need to be in flocks, so you have to have at least 4 birds for them to be happy.

    Any tips for diet..my birds are small as five inches I want them bigger like yours

    • @neelubird
      @neelubird 9 лет назад +1

      +kevinjml I think size has more to do with breed than diet. English budgies tend to be larger. I once had two budgies; one was an English budgie, the other wasn't. Both raised together, the English budgie was almost as big as the one in this vid whilst the other one remained small all his life and they had the same diet and environment.

    Even though I have stated my general distaste for this budgie type, he is your pet and should be afforded the respect due solely because of that. You obviously love him and that is all that matters. I think the dog analogy you've used is rather apt. No one disses the big breeds of dogs all that much - and they are fraught with problems that small dogs do not get - hip displasia, spinal issues, jaw issues, elbow displasia - a wealth of problems in other words. Anyhow, your budgie looks happy!

    As an Australian, I know this "English" budgie is far too big, when compared to a budgerigah in its natural state. I have not had anything to do with this type - they are not to my taste. My budgies do not weigh more than 50 grams. I'd be concerned about potential joint / bone problems when they get older - but, as I said, I don't have these type and dislike them intensely, so it might pay you to talk to an Avian vet - NOT breeders, who just want to sell their birds.

  • @HyperRush79

  • @OzLioness
    @OzLioness 12 лет назад

    I must type in Mandarin. But anyhow, if one LIKES this type of budgie, you CREATE the market for them. That's just common sense. Spread the word that they are NOT to your taste and the breeders will eventually stop, because you do not have a market for them. I also advised the person to speak to an Avian VET, because they will give you unbiased veterinary facts.
