Fun thing I realised, in the bad ending the credits are written in all English, but in the good ending, things like “sound design” and “level art” are written in Trunic (fox language) that’s pretty cool!
This game made me feel like a little kid again (31 atm), when i didnt know any english and i was trying to understand the game by the images. made me draw actual lines on paper after so many years. And i think that is what the final boss in true ending wants to depict. it illlustrates all of us (adults) who only seek to beat enemies in video games and that (and life) made us cynical. and thats why the obviously grown up form of the avatar runs a tear when sees the booklet. thank you for the experience tunic. and that is only my opinion
If you look up interviews of the developer, they got a lot of inspiration from games of their childhood where they were dumped into a game with very little if any explanation. So, it is exactly what they wanted you to experience !
Fun facts : you can do both endings in the same playthrough! The appearance of the heir is linked to tunic so if you change outfits in the dressing room she will also change outfits.

I know the resemblance, but you do have to remember that Hollow Knight isn't by any means the first game or even piece of media to do a "cycle continues" ending.
It's Hollow Knight meet Hyper Light Drifter, with all the "yup you are (ENDING A)" and its themes of "the chase for immortality" And it's interesting how both are Metroidvania, except one is sidescroller-platformer, and the other is isometric-ish with fast action. Highly recommend both.

You don't have to obsess over someone just mentioning the reference that's sitting at the forefront of their mind rather than the absolute original thought. If anything, it being at the forefront makes it the most deserving of being mentioned.
How did you guys figure out the secret language? Some secrets are impossible to find without being able to read it and I just had to look it up because I couldn't figure out how to translate it.

Fox and Sword were really good teaching tools to get started plus the alphabet on the back. The hard part is the line in the middle of words. Took a while for that to dawn on me.
I didn't knew THAT! Let me explain this quickly. I got the good ending accidentally, because the fight was to hard with my low stats. I searched all power ups, secret treasures, fairies and pages before I started a new try. After that I saw u can enter the final boss area in the normal world. (day time) I was wondering why the fuck the magical fox didn't attacked me. Now I know it and I'm freaking happy! 🥰 Sorry for my bad english. It's not my first language.
The exact same thing happened to me. I was struggling with the second stage of the boss. I got really close but eventually lost hope. So instead I went after the rest of the pages and well... discovered the good ending instead haha. Still feel salty that I didn't defeat her though.

Would have been fun, but the ARG is mixed in with it. I thought I has to do the ARG too, and translate the book. I did 70% of the problems, then got stuck on that stupid wind chime puzzle. I knew what to do, but I couldn't place the notes because they seemed random. I looked it up, the dev *did* randomize the tempo! WHY?!! At that point I just looked up a guide for the rest. The golden path was easy - but once I got it, the input messed up 5 times because it was so danged long and I had to look it up to make sure I was correct. I was, it was just not accepting the input. By the time I got to the final page I was ticked off. Doubly so when I realized I did the trophy room for nothing but a stupid website code and glorified screen saver going "oooooh what does it all mean?" That stupid arg ruined the game for me.

For real. The game is so good and moves at such a clip then all this holy cross crap slows it to a crawl. I don't need to spend 2 hours drawing a map for a 100 button input

Yeah I also finish the game in Ending B on my first playthrough because I already know what happens if main character beat the Heir which is already in the manual. Although the mountain puzzle, broken monolith and decoding something gives me headache though.

I did good ending first and I cried from it and then I did bad ending after and I also cried after that conclusion: this game is really good (i rarely cry)
(SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T YET WATCHED THE ENDS) Is it just me or are both endings terribly sad? The "bad" ending is obviously meant to be so, but the second one seems almost more cruel to me. The fox ghosts don't come back, the zombies are still there, and the Ziggurat assembly-line is still presumably churning away, its screaming prisoners never to be released... Worst though, in the "good" end when the Heir cries, is she merely touched by kindness, or has the "wisdom" revealed to her that her heroism and lonely imprisonment was all for nothing? :( All I can hope is that there is a Tunic II where you (maybe your new friend too!) work to rebuild and heal this bleak world!
It reminds me of the ending type that are just not as bad. Meaning, it can just be bad or really bad. Like Labyrinth of Refrain: Convent of dusk. Both normal ending and post game ending are sad in their own right, they did get a end but a happy one? No. Those endings hit harder then anything at all.
if the bad ending is anything to go off of, the heir is a previous ruin seeker who's been imprisoned and lost their memories, and they then get reminded of who they were and break the cycle
You can get the first ending just vanquishing the Heir, then, you can load the same save and get the true ending. If you get the true ending first you gotta need to do a new game for the bad ending, cuz once you have all the manual pages you can't fight against the Heir

So I did enough to get the completed manual and I thought it was a choice to either "take your rightful place" or "share your wisdom" not realizing that I locked myself into the good ending. An amazing subversion of how things were supposed to go but damn I still want my boss battle lol
You don't need to kill the boss first, you just need to make yourself whole, by going to all the hero shrines at night. Then you can go to the bed and rest to make it day. I haven't beaten the boss yet and I can go between day and night.

This fight ain’t as easy as it looks especially that second phase for second phase use the shield to block and don’t stay close to them for too long for the first phase if you are good at parrying their attacks (some attacks you don’t want to parry tho) you should have an easier time also ice dagger helps with this fight too gun is ok but they don’t flinch from it so not recommended
I cheesed them with the wand + blue fruit. It was my third attempt in, and surprisingly my first attempt getting into the second phase. I just kept my distance and kept on shooting and snacking 😄 ...probably not as satisfying as mastering the dodging techniques needed to win this fight the normal way, but oh well :]
I heard the hourglass can extend the time needed to input the code but it’s 100 inputs long and that hasn’t worked is there any freaking way to do this outside hooking up a keyboard ???
That is what I think. It's a metaphor, the older brother is stuck in the game because he doesn't have the manual. Once he nows what to do he is not trapped in the game anymore and now the two brothers can go spend real world time together

I wonder if anyone actually solves the golden path puzzle to open the mountain door? I already knew how to get the golden path code, but I was so frustrated by the previous puzzles that I couldn't bother looking for the few remaining pages and writing down the whole thing on paper. Instead I just looked it up. Though after that I realized I need to get all pages anyway to get the EB
I solved it for real, mostly. I tried it and couldn't get it to work, so eventually checked online, and found that a few of the sections I had though had a line that denotes a double move didn't actually have a line.
I solved the golden path naturally. There was only one piece I was stuck on but eventually figured it out. I figured out the language first. That helps a LOT!
I was so damn disappointed after beating the boss with almost none of my stats back, thought the extra challenge would reward me in the end with either a secret ending or her sword…but then shocked to see me getting trapped in the end.

The thing with D Pads there is this thing that Bcuz the buttons are linked together as 1 button there is a chance every time you try to input a direction that it will activate another direction by accident. Even though they appear separate on the PS controller it still works the same way. Therefore, after copying the code down and checking it several times and trying it 6+ times I just can't get the 100 digit code to work on the Northern door, and just have to watch this vid for this that part of the game! So thanks.

Question - I got as far as the last boss (a second time) but forgot to regain my skills from the tombs before triggering it. Now I'm stuck plinking away with a level one sword and no magic or enough firepower to kill it. Am I stuck? I don't really want to play the entire game from a new save but it seems like if I sat there bashing away with the sword I'd be here a week with no level ups.
@@zeeb2190 Yeah I watched a video on how to do it. The problem was I was already locked in to fighting him a SECOND time with no upgrades to anything. I think it took me about 40 minutes to kill it then I went to get all my upgrades back.
Iam watching this after trying to input the mountain door code 20 times why the hell is it so hard. You have to be in a specific spot, there’s a 2 second Delaney after each input you can’t get one wroung. I even heard it might not even be possible with controllers what the hell is this game lol
The ghost part ruined the game for me. Most of the world suddenly became blocked. You had to go to all hero graven nobody can enjoy that it was so tedious. Game should have sticked to the open colourful world as it was in the beginning but ruined it totally.
I assume part of why it becomes blocked off is that by that point there's so much of the map to traverse that figuring out the last puzzle locations would be a chore, so limiting the exploration space helps with that. I will admit though, I had to look up how to get back into the eastern forest.
it's meant to be a challenging game that makes you use your brain. I passed the game and it was great. Yeah it was challenging to become whole again after becoming a ghost but there's a purpose to that. It gives you a new ability you use to get the rest of the pages and figure out the biggest puzzle in the game to get the true ending. Challenging games are meant to be tedious at times. I would get really annoyed if every game was easy and didn't put up a challenge
this was like an hour out of the game that was limited on where you had to go because you needed to get your body back. No idea how this would ruin the game for you lol
@@ajisfr I have finished hollow knight and celeste. I like challenges. What i don't like is the game taking a way all your progress and blocking most of the map or the fact that the game forces you to go back to places you already have been to several times. Even that I would not mind if you got something good out of it and not just your previous abilities and powers. You get one ability whoppidoo. A great game would have included that ability to the overall map and allowed you options to progress in a way you like and not force you. I finished the game. It was good but it could have been so much better without this part.
Your life is utterly insignificant and not special at all, and still you aren't a rip off of anyone, Hollow Knight didn't invent the idea of a vessel sealing something else, so stop being a troll

The thing with D Pads there is this thing that Bcuz the buttons are linked together as 1 button there is a chance every time you try to input a direction that it will activate another direction by accident. Even though they appear separate on the PS controller it still works the same way. Therefore, after copying the code down and checking it several times and trying it 6+ times I just can't get the 100 digit code to work on the Northern door, and just have to watch this vid for this that part of the game! So thanks.
I had to input it a crazy amount too, turns out the problem was I was standing too close to the door 😭
The game has a feature that helps you manage the inputs by laying them all out and then playing them all at once when you say

Question - I got as far as the last boss (a second time) but forgot to regain my skills from the tombs before triggering it. Now I'm stuck plinking away with a level one sword and no magic or enough firepower to kill it. Am I stuck? I don't really want to play the entire game from a new save but it seems like if I sat there bashing away with the sword I'd be here a week with no level ups.
you can just, go and get your stats back, like, just go to the hero grave locations.
@@zeeb2190 Yeah I watched a video on how to do it. The problem was I was already locked in to fighting him a SECOND time with no upgrades to anything. I think it took me about 40 minutes to kill it then I went to get all my upgrades back.
How come the world had returned to daytime after you got the first page from the top of the mountains?

Iam watching this after trying to input the mountain door code 20 times why the hell is it so hard. You have to be in a specific spot, there’s a 2 second Delaney after each input you can’t get one wroung. I even heard it might not even be possible with controllers what the hell is this game lol

They fixed this in an update
The ghost part ruined the game for me. Most of the world suddenly became blocked. You had to go to all hero graven nobody can enjoy that it was so tedious. Game should have sticked to the open colourful world as it was in the beginning but ruined it totally.
Without giving it away, a clue is in page 22 if I remember it correctly, to turn the world as before becoming a ghost
I assume part of why it becomes blocked off is that by that point there's so much of the map to traverse that figuring out the last puzzle locations would be a chore, so limiting the exploration space helps with that. I will admit though, I had to look up how to get back into the eastern forest.
it's meant to be a challenging game that makes you use your brain. I passed the game and it was great. Yeah it was challenging to become whole again after becoming a ghost but there's a purpose to that. It gives you a new ability you use to get the rest of the pages and figure out the biggest puzzle in the game to get the true ending.
Challenging games are meant to be tedious at times. I would get really annoyed if every game was easy and didn't put up a challenge
this was like an hour out of the game that was limited on where you had to go because you needed to get your body back. No idea how this would ruin the game for you lol
@@ajisfr I have finished hollow knight and celeste. I like challenges. What i don't like is the game taking a way all your progress and blocking most of the map or the fact that the game forces you to go back to places you already have been to several times. Even that I would not mind if you got something good out of it and not just your previous abilities and powers. You get one ability whoppidoo. A great game would have included that ability to the overall map and allowed you options to progress in a way you like and not force you. I finished the game. It was good but it could have been so much better without this part.
So basically it's just a rip off of hollow knight's story
Your life is utterly insignificant and not special at all, and still you aren't a rip off of anyone, Hollow Knight didn't invent the idea of a vessel sealing something else, so stop being a troll
